I am curious to know if the CFC community admits that they are wrong at some point in time. Eather in debating in OT or Civ4. So the question I present for the discussion is:
Do you admit that you have been wrong at time? If so, how did you handle it?

Thanks

I'm always wrong. I just have to get used to it.
Youre not always wrong on everything C_H :).

I can say that I too admit at times that I am wrong. Just recently, I had found out that another poster was right about a certan subject that I was in compleate denial on. Somehow I felt kind of low for not being that much open minded to accept his ideas as well as admiting that one is wrong.

In reflection, I think that the reason why people do not admit that they are wrong is because of pride. They just have too much pride within themselves to admit honestly that they were wrong when the other party were right. However this is just from my thinking which is different from someone else's.

Sometimes the best way to win an argument is to admit youre wrong.

Somehow, now comming to think about that. I would agree to that statement. Though I perfer to admit that I am wrong in a gracefull manner.

PS. That does look like a good quote/sig material ;).

I spent 3 pages of a thread apologising for being wrong, but I did want to clear up a point of order, and as it turned out it was pretty interesting, however had I payed a bit more attention to what I was reading I'd never of started the thread in the first place:) Still was eminently worth it, I learnt loads, it's good when your wrong, you grow more intellectually more than when your right. I recomend it to everyone personally. I'm wrong alot, shows character that you can admit it, but it's not necessary, everyone knows who's talking rubbish most often:)

Bozos signature is I think a fine example of what happens when you use an internet translator to translate Japanese into English, it's masterfully illiterate, in a way only a computer program could manage :)

Thanks, but the sig youve already got is infinitely better;)

Sidhe, is that what it is, poorly translated Japanese? Every time I read it, it seems more mysterious and profound:crazyeye:

"I afraid cloud and is gettin it on with little miss to busy to call on holy and the lifestream"

I fear the cloud and and am getting it on with a prostitute(or single lady, difficult to tell really, the first available fluzy?) So I'm too busy to pray to the creator.

That's what it means in context, it's the actions of a desperate man who sees the world is about to end and get's some nooky in before he's roasted alive :)

Unfortunately it's anything but profound excepting of course the level of ineptitude it shows in translation. It reminds me of some fine arsed computer translations in foreign languages that have been puled apart by speakers of the language because it's such a poor translation, which is why I think they were being lazy and got some internet site to translate it.

Hmm, then I guess it IS profound after all:lol:

One reason I quit posting at another website was there was one person who would never admit to being wrong. For instance, at one point he claimed that NATO headquarters is in Oslo. When it was pointed out that NATO headquarters is in Brussels, he then said the logistical headquarters is in Oslo. The logistical headquarters is in Luxembourg. Then he insisted that the NATO northern area headquarters is in Oslo. It turns out that's in Trondheim. If this guy had said in the beginning "I made a mistake, NATO HQ is not in Oslo" then it would have been no big deal. But he insisted that everyone else (including NATO) was mistaken.

We're all ignorant about many things. Refusing to admit to our ignorance is psychotic.

BTW, the guy I mentioned above (known in some circles as "Mr. U.S. Marines in Stalingrad") is a libertarian. I suspect much of my disdain for libertarianism comes from my dislike for this guy.

I am always at least partially right.

I have been wrong on occasion. Best thing to do is just admit it, and get on with things! Issue an apology if required.

I used to say Christianity and the Bible is all true-but now I admit that it's a lie ;)
