That's my bad then, darlin'.

Again, from dictionary.com

Right, then all of the above for 6-9. And 9 is explicitly required, otherwise you cannot be part of the class of intellectuals. Creation of knowledge, not application of it, and certainly not merely admiration of it.

IMO the only intellectual on CFC is Dr. Mindbender.

Crap fifty, if you are not an intellectual, what chance do mere mortals like me have? lol.

Seriously though, Dr. Mindbender is a smart dude.

No. I'm intelligent and creative, but not an intellectual. I'm more a visionary than anything.

According to a test I once took, I'm a "non-conformist intellectual". On a personal note: I read stuff (like non-fiction books and poetry), but I also get bored easily (if what I read is badly written, outside of my field of knowledge or just doesn't interest me).

What I'm missing in those definitions is that, I thought at least, intellectual applies to alpha sciences rather than beta. So, according to the dictionary, Stephen Hawking is an intellectual - which makes perfect sense.

@Bill3000: I don't think intellectuals are a class, though... as that usually defines a scoial stratum.

I think you think of class in terms of Upper, Middle, and Lower classes. Those are based on wealth and income. Intellectuals can be a part of those three classes.

It's not an economic class, but - absolutely it's a political class. It's a rather minute one numerically, but it's a powerful one. It's one that creates ideological systems and breeds dissent in a government. It helps the nation prosper through their research. It is also the class that authoritarian governments need a tight control over. It's as much a social class as traditional economic classes or the military are.

Voltaire is an intellectual. John Locke is an intellectual. Richard Dawkins is an intellectual. Some random dude on CFC who likes science or philosophy and has above-average intelligence? Not so much.

I do not think that Intellectuals are strictly a political class. It is also a job class.

half of the people here consider themselves intellectuals?

for the record: i dont.
Be nice if it were a public poll. And also for the record: I don't either.

Yep, yet those people won't come out and say it here... hmm...

Pity a noob and please tell me who this Sidhe person is?
He is the man who flatters himself as an Intellectual...

...when in actuality, he is not.

Government by the intellectuals: Bolshevik Russia, almost.

Totally unrelated question, CG: how did you get the shadows and texturing on Alyx to work that way? It looks amazing, but not at all like HL2 looks normally.
