I've pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk, still not been dispatched, estimated delivery date 25-Oct.... :(

Then again, I'm mega-busy with important RL stuff this weekend, so thats probly a good thing.

It's going to be a long couple of days. Here's what you can do in preparation for Beyond Earth dropping: Clean Your Room, Clean Everything, Do Laundry, Go Grocery Shopping, Get Your Oil Changed, Take Out The Garbage, Do Homework and Study, Fake Early Sickness Symptoms at Work So Calling in Sick is Plausible, Run, Exercise, Spend time with GF/Wife/Kids.

In essence get everything done that needs to be done. Then your time after BE is launched will be maximized without any nonsense real life junk in the way.

Spend the next two days being a model citizen so you can nerd out this weekend with no repercussions!!

Could you all please let me know what the install size is on your machines? The path on Windows by default is:

[drive]:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\

found it in the depotcache sub directory, at a size of 2.74g for all files....

The game won't be in the common folder until Steam gives the order to decrypt it.

In depotcache, the 65981_depotcache_1.csd file is 2,759,199 KB, or 2.63 GB, for me.

I think I'll go to sleep early on the 23rd so that I can play early morning the 24th (4-5 AM). A strategy that has been more successful in the past than waiting a midnight release :) I'm fresh for the whole day and skip launch issues (though I don't expect civBE to have server issues).

just leave the computer on so that steam can do the decrypting while you sleep, vs furiously trying to get it done when you want to play.

People turn off Steam?

I don't but have found it helps to occasionally shut down and re-start it, to make sure I've picked up all possible updates to games and to the Steam app itself.

I turn off my computer at night.

It's got lots of fans and lights... even while in another room that's enough to see by in my bedroom, so it's got to go off so that I can sleep.

Also, yeah, I've noticed that you sometimes have to turn steam off to force it to start some downloads.

I'll go with my plan since Gods and Kings. Take the day before, the day of and a couple of days after off work.

Nap the day it releases which usually happens at 11pm my time. I'll have a nice cold 6 pack of micro beer cold and waiting while the wife is sleeping and get in some quality gaming till the sun rises with the wife, dogs and cats safely sleeping on a different floor.

The next day in this case will bring some sleep and then my daughter and her husband will be over in the evening to play the three copies I pre-ordered in my basement LAN style.

Bring it on Firaxis.....

hey guys just to inform you that i got the cdkeys from a Prepurchased game from Greemmangaming. I activated on steam with no problems.. and downloading already the content that is locked until 24

Just got the email saying it was posted this morning, and it comes with free first class delivery so should have it tomorrow :goodjob:

I live in the sticks and have only the most basic of broadband, hence why buying a physical copy and not d'loading on Steam.

It's quite a nice timing for me, actually. The game will be dropped about the same time I get off work tomorrow night. Come home from a night in the kitchen to just melt in front of a screen. Rinse and repeat. Suddenly, my week of 10-hour shifts just got bearable.

BRING ON THE ENERGY DRINKS!!!
