I am excited with this mod, epspecially how fast the game plays compred to RFC / RFC Europe.
May be RFC-SoI creator could make a 'Donate' page or link to get some real coins for his perfect work.

Donations are legal, and there's at least three popular mods/modders that put a link even here on CFC. That being said, while I don't mind this practice myself, I think any mention of money could potentially provoke negative reactions in some users, other modders, etc. but I appreciate the offer :)

I strongly believe Fraxis should donate to the best modders' PayPal accounts, or at least to initiate some modding contests with modest prizes. I only bought Civ 4 because of RFC scenario, and I learned quite a number of people did the same. Any silly game for Iphone can be uploaded and sold in Apple store -- its only fair that talented designers to be promoted, motivated and compensated. For so many people a hobby became a source of a modest additional income, why not for something so intellectually charged as a mod simulating the History!

Ok, then PM me if you have a PayPal account with donations available

Since i noticed this thread, i googled now a bit for a quarter of an hour to see where this "donations are illegal" is comming from.
Seems there might be some restrictions with paypal depending on country, which can cause some troubles. Peoples who are further interested might want to read here.

I'd suggest everyone who wants to accept donations should read into this, and if someone is doubting i also suggest rather not to do it.

There was an offical modding contest, but quite some time ago ;).

Just to say, because i'm reading a bit into this post: Any type of "selling mods" would result in quite some problems, because they are all the property of Firaxis (read the Civ4 EULA).

Once again, thanks. That is probably not the best way to handle it, but I've been thinking about it, and reading into it (thanks The_J). If there are no objections I can just enable paypal donations through sourceforge project page.

I don't want to get anyone upset though, and I also want to be clear that save for some bugfixing and polishing the mod is essentially complete, so possible donations would be treated as a free , rather than support for development.

I don't understand why anybody should be upset? It's a donation after all, and you've been pretty clear that it doesn't affect development one way or another.

Just sent a donation, I hope you already received it. Also note that you donation page was on some strange language, possible poland. I was able to figure out what to do but others will refure to read it.

Thanks and yeah, I didn't think Paypal would set language to mine, rather than whoever's viewing their website  Weird, though probably configurable. I changed my language to English, hopefully that should do it.
