When I was a teenager, I did go to those sorts of events quite a bit. Though nothing quite like that.. I have been too, and enjoyed, events with one or more of that stuff. The Mash Pit, gratuitous nudity, the generic guy with the long hair and bread but still gets the girls because he's funny and the girl is drunk, the sea of whitey white whiteness, you name it. I highly recommend it to any young guy who isn't morally upright.

I can't say it appeals to me now though. I've grown up a bit.

Bill3000: While I admire the stance of responsibility and prudence, applying the words "productive" and "virtuous" to the word "fun" screams, to nearly everyone here under the age of twenty, a sense of out of touch reality that only grown ups who could never understand would believe in.

Kids are kids. And if the activity is fun, they'd still be pursing those activities regardless of their maturity, intelligence, or school GPA even if all the parents in haughty realm of parentdom chide them for it.

You know Bill, one of the reasons I stopped posting in political threads as much is because most of the time you completely speak for me, down to the way in which I reason. But Bill this was atrocious reasoning. Objectively isn't fun? I hope that was dry humor. High energy mob actively is intrinsicly fun. That's the very definition of celebration, which is what humans do. Empathizing with others enthusiasm, and being enthusiastic, and being overwhelmed by music and dancing as a tribe is almost the human definition of fun. I'm down to have fun by playing board games, I'm down to have fun by building schools in Haiti (though I've never done it). I'm down to LAN party or have fun reading or playing sim city 2000 all by myself. I understand all those ways of having fun. But to lack the capacity to legitimately understand why so many find something so fun doesn't make them stupid, Bill. It just means you haven't learned to understand.

Not the music (though I'm personally a fan), but the energy, the crowd, the style, etc. The scene, basically, as portrayed in the video

I think a youtube comment summed it up for me "[shoot] I need to go to these parties!"

But I have a feeling I'm in the minority here at cfc.
