Societal Structure: The Dræsonians see the world simply: Every Dræsonian is equal when he is born, but his actions determine his respect. The Dræsonians are a simple Republic, with an elected leader every ten years, or when the current one dies, with no limits on number of elections. Each province has two elected representatives, and the eight representatives and the leader of the nation meet in the capital monthly to discuss major topics and develop plans for the future. The leader is elected by the people, as to have a balance in the government. The leader, or Cæros in Dræsoni, makes the final descisions in the nation, and although he may seem like a dictator from that description, his power is in check by the people and the representatives.
The people of Dræsonia do not have a caste sytem, nor any form of strict hierarchical pyramid. If there is a shortage of food, more people will tend to work as farmers, hunters, or fishers. If the Cæros decided to build a monument to the gods, Dræsonians who needed a job or were barely doing work would grab their tools and sign up to help. If there is a need of warriors, the Dræsonians will mount their horses, grab their weapons, and fight. They do what is necessary for the nation to survive, and the only people no Dræsonian respects are people who do not look to help the nation with their work.
Dræsonians are ruthless in war. They have four major categories of troops- light skirmishers, horse-mounted shock troops, well-armored heavy infantry, and their deadly archers. The skirmishers are light-armored troops with deadly curved blades that strike quickly at their enemies and retreat, trying to draw the enemies to their heavy infantry. The heavy infantry use their spears, longswords, and plate armor to their advantage, making almost impenetrable walls of metal whenever they form up against an enemy. The cavalry wield multiple javelins that double as spears, a long sword, and a bow, and they are lethal at any range. The archers hone their skills hunting, and usually get extremely close (in comparison to IRL medieval archers) to take accurate shots at the enemy. The Dræsonian war plans are loosely described, leaving much up to the generals. The general idea is to use the enemy's weakness and decimate them. Open flank? Send in the shock troops. Light armored? Groups of heavy infantry guarding accurate archers. Heavy armor? Draw them into a trap. The Dræsonians rarely face an enemy head-on, instead preferring to strike quickly and do as much damage as possible.
Interesting Information (I call it 'Random facts,' you will probably find these out with my stories, RP, et cetera): - æ is a common letter in Draesoni, especially in names, as it is used as a sign of respect- the closest word they have to English's "respect" is tæstarus, literally translated as "the honorable/respected one." Other common letters are ū, á, and ö, although that is due to the way they pronounce words, and the latter two (á and ö) are seen less. Likewise, the long i (English examples: I, ice) is usually replaced by æ, therefore a soft i (example: idiot) is more common.
-Cair is the Dræsoni word for "city," and for "pile of stones." Likewise, Cæros means "city builder" or "one who makes piles of stones."
-Many think of the Dræsonians as belligerent and uncivilized, but the Dræsonians do not see this as an insult, but as a way to use their shock tactics to their advantage
-The Dræsonian religion is a complex polytheism that
I'm too lazy to describe has too many gods to name all of them. The major ones are seen in the names of Dræsonian cities and provinces.
Territory Color: See the map. It's dark red.
Brief History: Dræsonia was born in fire and baptized in blood. The first Cæros was the chief of the Dræson tribe of the Plásini Castū, and united the surrounding tribes into a successful kingdom. After a few hundred years of being ruled by kings, however, a less-than-benevolent line of kings ruled. Ousted by an uprising of the people, in place of the monarchy it became a Republic, with aspects similar to the democracies of its southern neighbors, like Antonya. Years went by peacefully, until Cæros Vastos I was elected, promising an era of greatness. He has so far expanded the river province, and this is just the first year of his leadership.
(OOC: by the end, I was getting bored with this, and I might improve later)
