This is a 'Doomsday Weapon', created for my D&D Mystara mod. It is a floating globe of Mystara that has a little red disk on it. The disk is used to pick where the user wishes to destroy. When activated, the Doomsday Weapon creates a cataclysmic storm on the chosen city.

This unit was created as a single-direction 'ICBM style' unit, meant to be immobile and have an unlimited bombard range, and function as a nuclear weapon.

The orange band around the base is a civ-coloured band.

Preview animations cycle through default, 'launch', 'trail', and 'bomb'.

Thanks goes to Rhodie, because part of the 'Bomb' animation was modified from his Typhoon unit.

The mad scientist in me is laughing maniacally.

With Virote and your avatars (nice new one Grandraem) I can only be confirmed in my memories of cinema classic "DOOMSDAY WEAPON" depictions in The Mouse That Roared and Dr. Strangelove. Wow! And on a similar note... does AI react to possession (not use) of nuke type weapons? Very good unit I like it.

Thanks for the positive comments, everyone.:) I know that it is a pretty basic unit (meaning that a simple rotating globe is much easier to animate than a moving human), but the default and launch are my first non-cut-and-paste animations for a unit and it's nice to receive positive feedback. I also learned a lot about unit making involving palettes and civ-colouring while working with the typhoon and 'trail' animation (which is just a 'cut-out' of the trail of the ICBM converted to translucent 'shadow-colouring' for the unit), so it has kind of encouraged me to possibly create some other units for my mod. That wouldn't be until I'm pretty much finished the mod though, to make sure it still meets the deadline of the end of the year. This unit had no suitable placeholder though.

Moosezilla,
I'm not sure if the AI react to possession of nuke type weapons. It's been so long since I played a game far enough to possess one (I've been testing my units/buildings on debug) that I don't remember if they react negatively when you build one in an actual game.

Moosezilla: In all of my several thousends games I was never able to feel a difference in the behavior of the AI after you have build one or even more Nukes. The opposite is true if the AI possesses them !

That is an awsome unit! I am really looking forward to your mod now!

Hi Grandream ! Your unit has now 50 downloads !
... and you have said ,there will be no interest in such a unit ...

I know, when I first saw this I DLed it, said to myself, "What shall I use this for?" And then made a mod just to fit it in. I couldn't let it slip through the cracks! Amazing work!

I guess there are a lot of mad scientists out there.:mwaha:

Again, thanks for the positive comments.:)

I hadn't answered to this thread, but I wish to say this unit is one of the most amazing things I've seen here... wonderful job Grandraem, wish you could do more of these :)
