Dot mapping/game help

i'm on a fairly large continent with Washington to the east, and i cannot tell if there is more land to the east of him until i can get open borders.
Take a look at the save game and please help me get better,

Wow - nice island there (shame about the limited Copper)!

(1.) Wait for Animal Husbandry to reveal Horse before becoming too fixed on a dot map. You may be able to successfully pull off a Chariot rush.

(2.) If Horses don't show, or already in your Capital's fat-X, despite the great three Golds to the south - I'd consider the Gold-Wheat-River to your south east as the first city with the view to expanding towards Washington. Unfortunately the Wheat is unirrigatable until Civil Service.
