Doto [AdvCiv ModMod]

Hmm, tried both still crashed -so I checked vanilla:
It's the path that's scewing it up:
Goto units
click pikemen
click replaced by Landsknecht
works fine.

BUT

Goto Impi
then click icon for upgrades to pikemen
then click replaced by Landsknecht
Crash!

Maybe it's something I did...anybody else get this?

Found the problem: I'm using solvers events in and instead of using it as a module or mod I extracted the files overwriting the original files...eh..troubleshooting...reminds me of why I rather play a mod than build one!
 
Looking back at advice from keldath and net, I'm going to take a crack at fixing the icons. It's probably something silly which has just been overlooked. The funny part is, the icons work perfectly well in the Religions screen and on the Tech screens. Hmm-hmm-hmm?

I found this problem already, simple problem, going to take some work to fix it though. Not sure why the icon has a white circle behind it, may be a few things or some silly firaxis thing. Heres a quick view:

You know, I really hate alpha channels...first you have to move all icons down 4 slots so the icons line up with the xml. Then you have to make brand new alpha channels for each icon , that's 18 new x 2 (2 files 1 large and 1 small icons) so thats 36! Way to go Firaxis for making it easy! Anyway here's what I got. The Bird was real hard to see becuase it's brown and some terrain is brown (plains), even on the grass it's hard to see, so after going through the trouble of changing the alpha channel - I put a new one back. By the way this is the file (Targa Format) where you put the resouce icons so they show up in the city screen - I noticed no new ones are here.

What do think?

what would you say,
if i add a "support unit" to some eras - this single unit will consist out of a tank model + 2 infantry type model and perahps ahelicopter - in one unit set,
and to allow sonmthing like 3 units per player,
and this is like a multi unit - good vx infntry tanks and air, its a strong unit that costs alot and cn only build 3,
you thing that wil be nice?

Nah...Too hard to balance and so on
I want to use more Great Generals though! What about put it down to half the exp nedded now? But then you can't forget to change Great wall and the trait about it, and maybe something else that I am not aware of!
What do you guys think? Great generals are fun xD

maybe ill just give it to the person who discoves a tech ?
or just limit the unit to 1 per civiliztion -so you can have only one assult unit roaming around..? i promiss not to over power- it will have the same values, but will be better against all the era units,
like you get this unit with the idustrialism, and then this unit can attack all other units form that era without the -x attributes ive made?

i made some really cool models to v 1.5, im almost done with them,
next im gonna use nets report on the existing units he wrote.

then im gonna "merge" your report arlborn !

i cant wait to release it already!!!!

And about your unit, well, if it is only one per civ, should be OK!
 
Ah and about the half-exp..You need a certain amount of exp to get a GG right? I think it is too high in BTS(they did put higher) and I think that half of that would be fun :p

I like the idea as I'm arleady use to idea, there are many user created units I use in PG2 here's, one a StuG IIIF with Infantry:

I don't know about more great Generals as it would negate the civs that get that bonus – if you like great generals just player the Romans – build the great wall and you’ll get lots if you’re at war frequently. I would like to see any mods added that expand on the great general i.e. a rare GG, that gives 2 points instead of 1 or a rare occasion where 2 generals pop out instead of 1. A great admiral that specifically is for ships: Builds any early naval base, +1 move, ships can enter 1 ocean square and stuff like that. Solvers patch should also be added to the game to fix the mil acad bug. How about rare GG that can build a Ikhanda type building that gives +1 melee +1 den fence + 1 march and another one the build an early castle +50% defense.

All errars! The Romans, Greeks and Chinese all made use out of "combined arms". Probably only one at a time for now, maybe a elite unit like the 82nd airborne that is a paratrooper with light tanks or antitank or the big red 1 with good infantry and m1a2 tanks and Bradley – or the German Brandenburgers with the best ww2 infantry and Panther tanks – for the euro and asian civs I can think of a lot combos but for the others it will take some research.

This is exactly why you should make this mod modular - so everybody can flavour it as they see fit.

Maybe a mod where when you're at least 25% points towards a GG there is a chance one of these units will popout or a units is promoted to one of these.
 
That gives me another idea for mercenaries – the longer your at war and if you lose a 5 city or bigger one of these units pops out – early on these can be – the townspeople have pooled their money and bought off some of the invaders – you get your opponents combined units or maybe the townspeople have hired some neighboring greek, roman and zulu. – In later ages it can be defectors if the invader is using an oppressive gov…there are a lot possibilities and random events should make some of these happen with no sdk coding.
 
its better to get this combo units via great general type uniot...

but.....i dont no codng in python or xml,

so well have to stay with the xml for now - 1-3 buildble unit per civ each era.

ok i implemented most of you uu suggestions -on the 2uu types you suggested, id love to hear more,
most of the values ive made - is high but it one against the other,
id love to some more suggestion on the values.

anyway each day im getting closer to finish v1.5.
i have some more building tweaks, for now and the combo units.
