OK Pilotis, for you and others to enjoy:

3 GEM maps:

- full map (210x90, whole earth), HUGE TERRA +30%!
- old world (136x90, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia), similar to huge terra
- eurafrica (62x90, Europe, Africa, Westasia), similar to huge pangea

The smaller map should work for without MAFs as it is even smaller then a huge vanilla pangea. If people are interessted I could add back in the celts and some of the civs that just fell of the map (turks, india ...)
 
Ever thought of that as a challenging mode: Plauge and Famine?

You can even adopt The Plague (the Black Death) from Rhye's and Fall of Civilzation, which displays a near-perfect display of The Plauge.

The Black Death contributed to the destruction of the feudal system in Medieval Time. As more slaves and workers died, there were fewer people to work for the nobles and they had to give higher wages to the workers willing to work on the nobles' lands. The Black Death also killed many great kings and nobles. In its aftermath, the Black Death may also have favoured the use of more advanced farming tools as a smaller workforce was available and plots grew larger as a result of the population loss.

The Black Death continued to strike parts of Europe sporadically until the 17th century, each time with reduced intensity and fatality, suggesting an increased resistance due to genetic selection.[14] Some have also argued that changes in hygiene habits and efforts to improve public health and sanitation had a significant impact on the falling rates of infection.

As for Famine which is a more severe, but more isolated part of the world should be placed randomly across the world. I was thinking it of temperarly severly reducing your food storages by a large margin in a few cities (like 3 or 4).

A famine is a widespread shortage of food that may apply to any faunal species, which phenomenon is usually accompanied by regional malnutrition, starvation, epidemic, and increased mortality.

Although most famines coincide with regional shortages of food, famine in some human populations has occurred amid plenty or on account of acts of economic or military policy that have deprived certain populations of sufficient food to ensure survival. Historically, famines have occurred because of drought, crop failure, pestilence, and man-made causes such as war or misguided economic policies. Bad harvests, overpopulation, and epidemic diseases like the Black Death helped cause hundreds of famines in Europe during the Middle Ages, including 95 in the British Isles and 75 in France.[1][2]

During the 20th century, an estimated 70 million people died from famines across the world, of whom an estimated 30 million died during the famine of 1958–61 in China. The other most notable famines of the century included the 1942–1945 disaster in Bengal, famines in China in 1928 and 1942, and a sequence of famines in the Soviet Union, including the Holodomor, Stalin's famine inflicted on Ukraine in 1932–33. A few of the great famines of the late 20th century were: the Biafran famine in the 1960s, the disaster in Cambodia in the 1970s, the Ethiopian famine of 1983–85 and the North Korean famine of the 1990s.

Bastian B. We have a problem.

The maps play with the default add-ons 'on' revmod + dynamic civ names etc which are known to cause trouble. This may be why my 'huge' map game crashed - I actually wasn't getting any MAF messages, I just assumed..... I just crashed out again wth the OW map, and noticed when I tried to relaod the savegame the revmod etc 'on'.

Starting afresh I tried 'custom scenario' but when you launch you just get an immediate 'you lost' message.

Can you fix it so the maps play as described in the first post ?

EDIT. Herewith anyway:
You must play with Revolution and Dynamic civnames OFF. You also need to check and tune the DCM components.

To check and tune the DCM components go to globaldefinesalt in the OL xml folder. My settings are:

Selected (1):

air bombing
battle effects
ranged bombardment
archer bombardment (some say this causes probs - I don't get probs; I love it!)
fighter defense

De-selected (0):

civ customiser
civ changer
stack attack (definitely de-select; still a prob)
opportunity fire (not sure if this is a prob)
active defense (not sure if this is a prob)

Load OL mod. Go to OL main menu and select custom game. De-select revolution and dynamic names.

p.s revolution mod suppose to work - theres a random ctd with it - use at your own disscretion,

OK, attached you find the 3 maps without any gameoptions. That should take care of it.

Success !!

Playing on the largest map with whole earth, I'm at GT 415, circumnavigated the globe without a single CTD !!

MAF has already kicked in as expected which means I can't reload a game from within the Civ app, but 2ble click on the savegame and off I go.

Excellent !!! Great map as far as I can see.

The 2nd 1.6 patch appears to screw up the world builder, btw. Not a huge problem, but the world builder is sometimes useful.

1. I don't have Zulu's problem. I wonder if the patch is O.K. We really need to organise the first post. I find it quite confusing.

2. Bastian-B. Gaaaah!! I crashed out at GT 576. It didn't give me a MAF error, no python exceptions, but rock hard CTD. The map (largest!) is really great ! Savegame here if K or you or anyone can figure it out. It really is a great game on that map !

mod is stil pretty fast with new units so you can put some in your next version!!!
I didnt have any crash with this version,I use smart map and play with all 34 civs!!!

hey zulu,

its wierd, your the only person to have this,

with this messege it seems either youve changed somthing in the xml or i doknow,

also the world builder didnt gave me any problems,
if i get it right, your missing the caravan code.

try loading the game with out the patch,

i will take a look at it tommorow,
but, im positive theres no problem with it.
