Doto [AdvCiv ModMod]

Hello. I have a problem with this and other mods. When the mod is loaded, the main menu looks like this:
Civ4ScreenShot0000.JPG

As you can see, the letters are unshowed, but are selectable. All blue. I would like to know why is happening this. Can you help me, please?

P.D.: i like ride the worm :goodjob:

O.K. Keldath. Now yer picking on me!

I'm playing Egypt. I've discovered Polytheism - so I should be able to build the 'Discover Hinduism' building. But I can't. I've looked in the religion xml and can't see any other prereq. Am I missing something ?

By the way in the 'poedia it says you need to discover 'Hinduism' to build the 'Discover Hunduism' building; but you can't discover Hinduism until you've built the 'Discover Hindusin' building.......head banging! In the xml it's O.K. I think - the Prereq is polytheism - which makes sense. All the other 'poedia religion descriptors look O.K.

OK thx Pilotis, I'll try it again hopefully I can get it to work.

Pilotis
alright, ill take alot, though i thought ive checked all the religion building,
try to take a look at these files:
civilizationinfo.zml - see what uniqe building they have
then go to
buildinginfo.xml - chech the uniqe building egypt has and see which tech does it preq,
then go to
techinfo.xml - chech the tech name.

if you cant build hindu, then one of the following is wrong for the egyptians.

hope your having fun so far.

GOTTIT!! You've made the 'main' polytheism tech now 'polytheism2' and the Hinduism tech 'polytheism', but in the civ4buildinginfos you've got the prereqtech for the building 'discover_religion6' as polytheism, not polytheism2. I've changed it to polytheism 2 and now I can build the building to discover Hinduism ! Yes!

K. Do you want me to check the others through ? Your renaming is quite complex and others may have slipped through.

BTW I'm really enjoying helping you - all part of the fun for such a worthwhile mod!

OK, I found the error(s). Now I proudly present, Genghis Kais Giant Earth Map for Overlord 2 1.6. Its enormous and its ... lacking the new resources. But it does have 34 civs. So I'd say this is surely a map worth overlord. ^^

As always its just a starter, so suggestions how to improve it are welcome.

Pilotis
you rock man,

thanks alot!

im teling you, modding is very addictive....

when i developed this system,
i wasnt sure how id do it, so i went along and wrote the techs then chanegs, so it all got messed up with no conssitant names...
would you mind uploading the fixed files? ill add them as a patch :)

bastian, thanks alot,
keep up the good work .

by the way...
im already got some new coll mods for v.1.7:
abandon city
air force mod
and a one religion mod....finally i got an sdk code that limits religions as i wanted for a long time :)

work on v1.7, will take a while...it exam times now....
thats why i tried to make v.16 with as much fixes as i could.

In your credits screen, the music is from emperor battle for dune (ride the worm), good soundtrack.

I have 3.13. My civ 4 is spanish, but other english mods work well. When i install a mod, retail text remain spanish, and the text from the mod is in english. But here is different, as you can see in the screenshot. Some kind of conflict...

hey alex,
where did i put the dune track??? that so wierd, i looked at the sound files, and say no dune file!
but! indeed i have made a dune sound track for my ol mod! that replaced almost all of the era musics and such in my mod - but i never did released it!
could you tell me which file refers to the credits?

i see,
then, the spanish must be it,
i deleted every non english text from my files in oreder to reduce size,

perhaps you can reinatsall the game with only english support, im not sure how to help exactly with this one....hope you get it :)

Just changing to "english language" should do. It does with the german version.

K.

I just went through civ4buildinginfos and civ4techinfos and I think the rest of the techprereqs for the discover_religion buildings are o.k. I especially checked Judaism-Monotheism2, Hinduism-polytheism2, Buddhism-Meditation2, Shinto-Shamanism2, Druidism-Nature Worship2

The sevopaedia needs updating. Is it worth doing that or are you gonna change the way religion works in 1.7 ???

Good luck with exams. Check in occasionally but make sure you blam the xams!

Oh here's the file but the only change is polytheism2.

pilotis..

thank man, ill move it to the front post.

i guess i missed 1 out of 10 religions...

well yeah, i found a code, of one religion per civ,
its untested at all, so its not 100% that ill use it, but i prefer that code on the crazy religion, but, depens on what overlord players prefer.

thanks, i hope to get good grades..............

and sont worry, im getting to fanatics on a daily basis....im hooked.

:)

Any reason why you didn't gave Israel both Judaism AND Christianity. Remember, Jesus Nazarenus was a faithfull Jew after all.

The nation distributions that should be completely logical (IMO) are:

India: Buddhism, Hinduism
Israel: Judaism, Christianity
China: Confucianism, Taoism
Celts: Druidism
Persia: Zoroastrism
Japan: Shinto
Arabia: Islam

Reason: the religions where historicaly founded in those nations.

Other logical placements (for current or historical rpresentations):

Judaism: Netherlands, Germany, Austria, America, Russia
Buddhism: Japan, Mongolei, Khmer
Hinduism: Khmer, (Zulu, Maya)
Confucianism: Korea
Taoism:Korea
Druidism: England, France, HRE, Vikings, (Netherlands, Austria)
Zoroastrism: Byzanz, Rome, Greece
Shinto: -
Islam: too many to name
Christianity: too many to name

I see three possible ways to distribute religions:

1) only give the 7 first named civs the right to found those religions (plus other with later religions to come, like Animism or Meso-American religions and such)
2) distribute the religions unevenly, with some nations allowed to found only one religion (christianity or islam mostly)
3) distribute the religions evenly (as you did)

Keldath

Shouldn't 'discover_religion' buildings become obsolete once they have done their job....?

Bastian-B.

Good thoughts. I did the religion distributiuon for this release - maybe not so well - anyway I'm happy to help as required if K wants to change things for the next release, but looks like he's going to code religion in a different way for 1.7......

Bastian-B.

Just loaded your map. Very good!

I did get a MAF when I ditched a game, went back to Main Menu then reloaded your scenario. But it was fine from a fresh re-load of BTS. I'll find some time for your map but I'm also running straight OL1.6.

thats some interesting ideas,

as pilotis said, he divided the groups for this release,
but, i agree that some may not be historaclly currect,
but um sure pilotis tryed to consider it,
i also agree by the way about israel...

i decided to go for option 3 you wrote, cause i prefer that for now as it its the first release of this system to make it balance and hear you r feeds,
but i like that some nations should get only one religion, is kinda nice.

as pilots wrote, i got my hands on a one religion sdk code, wish i saw it 2 days ago.....
so its not yet tested, but if it works, id prefer to use that code,
but...........maybe i can use both my code and this - one civ can found one religion,
from a set of uniqeq religion - like israel cant get both christ and jud' - only one of them,
it will be a kinda cool to have both - dont you think? plus...i dont wanna through the system i came up with so soon....:)

pilotis,
i was indeed suppose to obselete those buildings...forgot bout it,
also just for you to know, i gave the buildings +1 values so that the ai will build'em,
and then upon discovery - i "took back" the bonuses i gave through the religion techs.

keep working on the map guys :) ! im excited bout it !

**
hey guys...not ssure why, but some people are downloading previous versions, like today someone got 1.5....
sometimes i see 1.4 also was dl...
wierd...why dl an older version?

K.

1. I think the basic religion ideas are sound:

- each civ being able to found 1 religion from 2 - 3 available for that set
- competing with different civs for the 2 - 3 religions available
- basing the available religions more accurately on historical precedent as recommended by B-B.

2. Do you want me to just go through buildinginfos file and obsolete 'em as soon as the religion is discovered.
I assume it's : <ObsoleteTech>TECH_religion</ObsoleteTech>. Let me know.

3. Will carry on with B-B's map and the straight OL mod

4. There is absolutely no reason for dl earler versions now. However post 1 does say that the last 'stable' version is 1.5.

5. I also think we need to tidy up that first post. It is getting a bit kinda 'here and there'.
Can I help to re-structure it in some way.....???
