Another suggestion:

Air Base should add more airplanes capacity in the city. If airport give more one air capacity, why a air base dont give anything?

Is there a mod which allows to dig trough land to build canals?
I found myself in a position where huge narrow continent makes me to send water units all over and around just to get to the other side.... What in land distance is 4 squares and 2 turns of travel takes when swimming around 30-40 turns...... I need my own Suez Canal!(I left Panama Canal to cut possible discussions)
Can we make that work?
 
You can already build canals in stock BTS with forts. All forts need to me next to a water tile (even those covered with ice count) to act as canals though.

Interesting... you mean fort by fort from one site to another? ..... that is interesting... how did I miss that?
 
......ok ......... doesn't work for me.
You can build line of forts but only first tile nearest to the water is accessible.There is no way to set up a route for naval units trough line of forts. You can also cross one tile at some point which connects two bodies of water(in some mods...or in early years/wooden small ships). But to make it work crossing few tiles you need....well..... create something new....like a canal...... there should be a possibility to dig up a canal...... longer on flats in early days....and faster in modern.... using terraforming unit? not to change plot to water but more like making a special kind of road with specific improvement graphics!

no problem, the mod have a unit you might know- modern workboat - also - there's a new road type - tunnel - it can be be by the m workboat once it becomes availble - what does it do? its road over water... land units can move on water with it.

check out the pedia to know which tech makes it available.

Anyone ever played the Planetfall mod? They have something called bunkers; I've never used them yet since I recently dnld this mod but it sounds like it could be used for a canal system you guys are trying to make. This is from their 'Datalinks' (civlopedia):

When a Former (worker) constructs a Bunker improvement, the Former is consumed and a Bunker unit is created. This Bunker unit is the first ranged strike unit available. The most obvious use for Bunkers is to defend your borders. But they also serve many other varied purposes.

Like Vanilla Civ4 Forts, Bunker improvements:

Increase the defense bonus for the plot
Increase the healing rate for units on the plot
Connect the resource on the plot to your trade network
**Serve as a canal for ships to move through**
Serve as a base for air units
...

I was curious why people do not post here frequently. I found out!!
It is too stable!
It is so stable that people do not have any problems at all so there is no reason to post and bother.Besides, playing O2 is so much fun that who would have to waste a minute for writing a silly post if everything goes slick and smooth.
(...I am going back to playing.... so long)
 
I like Earth Maps.

I finished a game now. Earth Huge, with 25 civs. I liked so much. I played a lot Rise Of Manking and my pc don't runs huge maps on RoM. With overloards, I play Earth huge map very well, better than RoM earth standart map with 27 civ.

I went until future technology and didn't found any titanium source. Any civ had titanium. I saw the map and haven't any titanum source.

I did notice that every game I played something was missing or was limited to only one item of resource. I sure that not all resources are present after creation of map.

so, your saying not enough titanium , ok, maybe some of the scripted maps need to be updated with ol2 res.
ill check it out,

i know for sure that all of the res are appearing on archipelago , continents and the classic script maps.

rise of rom is a great great mod, no doubt, but civ4 isnt built well for large sized mods, so when i started ol2, i tried to skim with graphics, and civs and everything so the mod will be light and stable during the late stages of the game.

You could add titanium to a great geologist.

I will start new games and see if have titanium. On last game havent nome titatium in all game time.

Edit:
I started some games and entered on world builder.

Titanium, Gas and Sulphur sources are problem. I didnt see any titanium and gas. Sulphur it's so few.
 
Another sugestion:

Units upgrade more cheap.

It's too boring creat new technology and a lot of old units that it's impossible upgrade unless you are so rich.

I think units upgrade should be cheap to don't need build a new army every new important technology. Maybe it's unrealistc but for game play its cool.

Maybe a great general could give a -50% ou -75% upgrade for a unit build in one city. Or some national building.
 
Catapults and Trebuchers are supposed to reduce city defences by 6% and 4% respectively according to the Civilopedia. But mine reduce only by 2% and 1% respectively. Does anyone have an explanation for this? It makes for VERY long and tedious sieges.

i will add them, in the last few days ive been playing, prince-war, i lost twice, around turn 500, i got kicked by the ai no matter what i do.

the cheap upgrade is very important, what do you think is better - generally reducing upgrade cost, or add a few buildings that reduce the costs? maybe national wonders?

hi, im not sure about this, but, if so, i will be happy to raise the siege power, i reduced it to all the units in the game.


another thing,
i see that ive made the ai leaders too alike - they all want war, and they are most of the time angry, so, ill make some of the leaders to be more happy, so you wouldn't have to fight all at once like they did to me...
 
I dont remember what mod i played, but a great general could creat a building like military academy that gives a bonus to every unit build on this city (a think was -75% or -50% upgrade). I liked this. You need go to war to can this bonus, it's cool and you can have on more than one city. For human player i think is good. I don't know if AI would use this. Maybe a building like Heroic epic would be more easy to AI. Would be nice if more players gives opinions about this.

I was playing a game and to upgrade a chariot to horse archer cost 236 gold.

Another thing i see many times. AI don't use religions. I just see a civs converting to a religion if it has the holy city. I don't know if the mod planned this or it's a bug.

great idea, i have added - school of war (if you have a better name...) that you can build, it will reduce upgrade by 50%, built by g general.

also added a world wonder that triggers golden age - 8 per game.

i know about the religion, the code im using forbids civs not only not to found the religion but also to convert, i will remove the code and do one of these alternatives:

religon buildings - like before
some tech unique religion - ill make religion techs and disable religion techs to some civs.
remove all religion limitetions for now.

also, made significant changes, if i wont get more suggestion, say for a week ill upload a new version.

hey the mod is looking good, but i have one bug to report so far: i cant talk to other leaders. the screen appears with the animation of the leader, but there is no text to make trade/exit etc...i have to press the esc button to get out of the screen, any help please?
