Thanks. As I said over on the blimp thread, looking good. Thanks for the images for Great Opera House and Spirit of Saint Louis. I am still looking for cityview images for several of the improvements. let me put a list together tonight and I will post it here tomorrow. Thanks for any help you can give.

AFIK you can't make civspecific wonders, just govt specific. But the Parthenon has been added to the Mod as well as the Buddha, the Statue of Liberty, Stonehenge and the Eiffel Tower. The hanging Gardens are already in the game as is the POharos at Alexandria.
 
Sorry.. Wasnt trying to make you feel an idiot at all. It was just that "Bovine" popped up in my mind and i was laughing for 20+ seconds after thinking of the cow kingdom. No kidding. Oh, and if you dont know about the secret cow level... Its not so funny then.

Don't worry about it. :D If anything it just teaches me to be more careful when inputing anything inot the bic.:D Besides, even Firaxis has typos in the civilopedia, but I would like to put this out there with as few erros as possible, so thanks for the spellcheck, I do appreciate it.

Pesoloco, and anyone else who may be able to help out here. I still need pedia icon images for the following improvements. I am shooting for an end of March release of version 1.0 beta. The initial release will not have all the civilopedia text in place yet, but it will have as many pedia icons in it as I can get before Friday.

Much like my problems with CTP's "Chichen Itza" wonder, I'm not too keen on the name of "Buddha" as a wonder; the Buddha is said to have been a real person, not a manufactured thing. Perhaps a specific statue of the Buddha, or a specific temple devoted to him would be more appropriate. I'm not sure of the name, but it might be fitting to use the name of the huge Buddha statues that the Taliban destroyed in Afghanistan....

BTW, sorry to hear about your home planet!

I agree that the name of the Buddha needs to be changed. The image I have is of the Giant Bronze Buddha in Tokyo. I don't know the name of that specific Buddha, but is supposedly tha largest statue of him in the world.

Chichen Itza, while it may have been a whole town, has since become synonimous with the pyramids there. That is what is meant in my mod and in CTP.

Thanks for the sympathy about the planet thing. I am trying to make the most of it. :D

I will be back in Malaysia next week (Thursday) and I will do a scan of one of the very old Buddha that is carved on a hillside (or rather clift) in China much like the one Taliban destroyed. Its called Le Shan Da For (Giant Buddha of Le Mountain). ;)

well, the bic is ready, but some not all of the graphics are in place yet and I am hesitant to put this out until I at least have fillers in place. The tech tree is taking longer than I expected. It hasn't helped that we just moved to a new place and I have had to spend a lot of time getting the new place in order. (sigh, why must there be a life outside of civ :D )

anyway, here is a preview of the finished ancient era tree. notice that the literature and writing boxes are longer than they need to be, even given that ancient era doesn't allow for the short box, those two techs do not need the extended box. I'm not sure how to correct this. I am thinking that I will have to delete them and readd them in order to get rid of any hardcoded effect. Just a theory. anybody have any ideas.

I can post this tonight if people want to start beta testing, but like I said not all the graphics are in place and it will have to be played as a scenario in order to get the tech tree line to show up until I can finish off the other eras.

I have played it through the ancient era and halfway through the middle ages without any problems.

Would anybody want to play it as is and test it for any bugs? Let me know. :D

Ka-el, just wanted to let you know that this mod sounds VERY interesting! I don't have much free time but I'd love to contribute with any unit graphics you should need. I'm actually working on upgrading the Warrior to a two-axe wielding Warrior. Only prob is converting it to flic format... Anyway, if you post a more detailed unit-to-do list I'll see what I can do to help ya.
By the way, here is a preview of the upgraded Warrior:

Good News Everybody! I will be posting a beta version of the mod in the mod forum tonight!! I am very excited to have you all take a look at it. :D

That unit looks more than Nice! I would say it looks super cool!! :nicejob: It will work great as the barbarian warrior. As far as converting it into a flic, are you using flicster by moeniir? I was at first a bit intimidated by the tool myself but have since then come to really love it. The only reason I haven’t put more units together is that 1)all my free time has been going into putting together the other parts of the mod and 2) that’s not really where my talents lie.

As far as other units are concerned, here is the updated list of units that no one is working on and what I had envisioned for them. These are listed in the order that I would like to see them done, of course I would be happy to have any of them completed.

The Fanatic: Unit available with fundamentalism but not restricted to fundamentalist governments (because you can’t). What is currently the civ specific color (the tunic and pants) should be white, and what is now the leather jerkin and hood should be civ specific colors. I think the brown crossing on the legs can be done away with so he has just plain white pantaloons. :ninja:

The Crusader: Unit available with Chivalry, he is an offensive upgrade to the knight but do to his reckless abandon in the name of the crusade he has a bit lower defensive rating. I was thinking that this unit should look similar to the ToT unit, which resembles a Knights Templar, probably the most easily recognized crusading order.

The APC – This is conversion from the mech infantry unit. Just remove the big gun off the Mech Infantry and replace it with the torso of the marine. The marine will most likely have to be scaled down to fit the mech infantry chasis. :tank:

Barbarian Rider – Conversion of the Chinese Rider – just put some antlers on his head. It would be really cool if you could make it into a skull with antlers. :skull:

Viking Longship – I think we all know what this should look like and CTP has a nice unit that would work beautifully if someone could grab it and convert it. :viking:

The Trireme – Here is another conversion. Take the trireme, bulk up the ram on the front end a bit and add a scary Greek eye to the prow.

The Corvette – Yet another conversion. This one is based on the Privateer. All that needs to be done is thee Skull and Crossbones has to come off the sails and either left blank or possibly if you’re feeling adventurous, replaced with the image on the caravel sails.

I think having slightly more futuristic units... Not just one. Mayber try to get as many animations as possible and make them all available within the last few advncements before future tech...
Good luck with the mod and all those tests everyone is talking about...
And, BTW, what is this home planet thing you were mentioning? Did I miss it or did you edit it out?
 
it was a play on my name, kal-el is the last son of krypton, aka superman.

re the more futuristic units. I thought about this and there are a couple more out there, but it then becomes a question of adding in more techs and some filler techs so that you don’t just have new unit after new unit become available. It is always nice to have some time in between unit upgrades so that you have the opportunity to actually use your military’s latest toys before they become obsolete.

Having just finished the tech tree I don't know how eager I am to scrap it and rebuild it.

What do people think about the change in colors for the tech tree? I like it.:D
 
hey Kal-el i'd love to ehlp you beta test this. it sounds like a great mod and i have been following it. look forward to seeing the beta.:goodjob:
 
Kal-el, I was fooling around with the Mech-Infantry... came up with 3 possible 'versions' for that APC you wanted. I'll post pics in a sec... just have to convert to pcx...
