Dear Killer
Yes it was indeed extremely harsh and offensive, in fact we were shocked by your reaction and the tone.
We received a hastily written note titled ...
could you investigate TNT's silk city for us?
We will add the gold it costs in on our deal. I see you are beating us to the city anyways. Mezzanote I think is its name.
We outlined our position post haste I might add, on being neutral in this scenario and expected you to respect our stance or at the very least be civil in disagreement.
We were open in our response which clearly and succinctly outlined that our intentions in no way were taking a resource away from you. In fact as stated in the letter, we were urgently securing our own supply and preventing KISS from obtaining either own through either direct action or extortion. Our intentions should have been self evident in the letter, especially if you had properly read the section dealing with the
saltpeter resource we saw nearby. If you take but a moment and breath deeply you will find that the Doughnuts benefit greatly with what we propose.
How do we interpret
we are not trading for silks since they are "ours."
if you are implying that because this luxury is situated (in an area which was at one time quite recently considered an unclaimed zone) on your continent, it automatically belongs to you and that we should give freely the spare silk then you are sadly and foolishly mistaken. We have been outright accommodating in our dealings with you and find it laudable that a civilization in the position that you find yourselves claim an entire continent, especially since KISS has already started a forced colonisation campaign, will you be charging them rent?
Please recall also, that we were invited to partake of the TNT extinction and have chosen this method of involvement. We were also invited to align with TNT and attack you while you were distracted and militarily weakened, but we chose not to.
It was to prevent this type of over reaction that our latest explanationary notice was posted. If your own foreign service was swifter to deal with outstanding issues this would never have become one.
Regarding your tone, perhaps in future you should leave the diplomacy to those instructed in this more subtle of arts. I personally take great offence in that you are bullying an ally in this manner, an ally I might add that will ensure a technology lead for your team. Also considering that you would have been aware a settler was precent, why did you not expand your note? I took your sentence to mean that we had beaten you to secure some silk, and was indeed a grudging congratulation. If this was not the case, you should have relayed matters on the subject instructions clearer and certainly been less aggressive. As to the stance that they are
'your' silks, I will point out that there a two more available. If you had bothered to ask you would also have found out that we would not be building culture in
'our' silk city unless you agreed, which will allow you to settle your own supply.
In lieu of this, I therefore request an urgent meeting (AIM chat) with your foreign minister to discuss this matter.
Regards
Feaurius III
