DPII's Unit Previews

Thing is, if it came to it, I'm sure Chinese troops would fight using those uniforms...and they'd probably win in such a land war.

What? If it came down to what?? If they got attacked in the middle of a parade? Or on furlough?

They don't wear these in the field... it's as simple as that. Why would you want to have them wearing a non-combat uniform for combat?

You could have it as a guard unit with high defense but low attack.

DPII: Any chance you might do a Ming Zhanmadao Swordsman? :)

Here's a pic from a Ming Dynasty era war manual:

The "Zhanmadao" sword was used as an anti-cavalry sword by infantry. Zhanmadao swords are almost identical to Japanese No-dachi swords.

Troops used to wear uniforms like that in combat. The reason camo is used is to minimize troop casaultys. China has so many troops that it doesn't matter how many they lose. They used the "human" shield tactic during the Korean War.

Here are some pics from a film which I think is set in the Ming Dynasty:

doh...i request some RL type stuff and get crushed :p

the bottom line is that we are lacking in late ind/early mod asian infantry type units.

upon urther investigation, what I was talkign about is tang Chinese troops; which is the era more or less right before what your talkign about; including a ew chinese musket troops (of course, the vast majority of the troops are sword and spear)

yes. what he said. :D

So now you're using extortion to get units out of me??

Xen, you make an old milkman proud...

Anyway, what is this source? I can't and won't commit to anything right now as I have to get done with these other units first... but after that, anything is negotiable.

Also, I thought I'd share a preview of a new unit I've been messing around with... mostly as a way to train my modeling skills which are in desperate need of improvement...

This is will be a flavor naval unit for the Polynesians... or it can be used as a hypothetical Japanese aircraft carrier called the Nibai from some alternate history thing I read on the internet...

It's a catamaran aircraft carrier: The IPN Kamehameha

Note also that this is not the fully textured version. This is still a very rough model.

Holycrap. .that looks very close to the Imperial Neptune Carrier I designed. The original ws a cat, but I remade it with one hull. Here.. I'll post the pictures...

Okay... I finished rendering the Carthaginian version of the elephant... here's my idea for the generic version. I know it's a bit plainer than my other units, but it's also good because it can be used for a more ancient elephant unit. I think a heavily-armored elephant might be good for the next generation.

Hope you haven't given up on this Carthaginian Elephant and other from this nation.

Nope. I haven't. In fact, I'm compiling the FLICs for the Carthaginian War Elephant as we speak. :)
