At Target for lunch, and there it was.

I went to checkout with a pair of shorts and a copy of G&K (there was only one on the shelf).

The cashier scanned it, mumbled "can't sell this movie, street date is tomorrow" and put it aside.

I talked to the manager and have it reserved to pick up tomorrow. I am old-fashioned and want a "hard" copy.

Drat, I was so close. My dreams of evening installation are crushed.

I will have to buy my new "movie" tomorrow.

You forgot to part where you slipped him a lincoln and the cashier began whistling the other way

I wish the Mom and Pop stores in my neighborhood sold computer games, would of had it for at least 5 days already. CDs and Console games I can always get early for $5-$10 more, i.e Madden.

"Sorry, we put this on the shelf too early, we can't sell it until tomorrow. Should we put a copy aside for you?" <-- What a reasonable person would say if their soul wasn't already dead.

Edit: Yeah I think Steam would be your bottleneck. Would be interesting if you could pre-load it though.

i love how cashiers mumble things under their breath because they live in fear they might provoke you - which would cause you to in some way inconvenience them. OH DEAR, inconvenience! I better mumble, move fast and become scarce as quickly as possible!

Almost every workplace tells it's employees to do this and we wonder why our society is so irresponsible and inconsiderate with this kind of habit being practiced for 1/3 of a persons lifespan or longer (all cumulative hours at work).

Headcases line is more "customer friendly" because the employee is trying to "solve" or "rectify" a situation instead of running for the hills.

Always go to a female cashier, then flirt. Always works for me at Gamestop.

If the game is Street dated, then why is it on the shelves? As I understand it, the street date thing means they also can't display the actual game, demo it...or anything of the like. I have mine ordered at a local Gamestop and will pick it up tomorrow. From the looks of it, the game isn't in wide distribution(at least in terms of overall physical units...digital is another thing entirely). I was the only order for it...and that one is the only copy the store is getting.

GameStop disallows you to gain a serial key for Gods and Kings until midnight, despite the fact that all keys are for Steam, which blocks you from opening the expansion anyway.
