Can't you see that from my uniform?

That was your best try for an Orthodox temple! Russian one anyway. The walls and houses look "westernish", but when the church is alone it looks really authentic. Great job!

Let me guess - the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow was your inspiration, wasn't it? :D Looks awesome!! The whole thing!

Yes, the walls do look "westernish" but then again I'm not quite sure what medieval eastern European walls should look like.

It's great, and I have no idea how you managed to model it like that without using stats about proportions, but careful, something with that many details might not work at such a small scale. It might look a bit like a bee's nest if you are not very very very careful with it. I think that you might have to sacrifice some of the beautiful ornamentation if you want to make it look good on normal Civ3 terrain.

Just my two cents. I'm amazed by your modeling (and approximation, which is very important!) skills. :goodjob:

@Steph: it's probably not finished yet, but IDK. That also crossed my mind, and just like you, I'm damn sure it would look a lot better with some wood texture.

It will not be wooden in the city, but i can use the colours in the model pic in the building image :)
As for the actual model i made, it has 60.000 polygons currently, so the finished thing will have around 80.000, making it one of the most detailed buildings i have made.
However it was not that difficult, since it mostly uses the same forms again and again ;)

As for the small scale, yes i am very aware of that, but ussually when you have a well-detailed model you can find some placement/size that looks good. Anyway we will find out later on.

Unfortunately, despite my best attempts, it simply did not look that good in civ size.
But i will upload it as a building, and probably enter it in the monthly contest if i am not finished with the set before the 31st ;)

This is it currently, although it is not yet complete. Some small parts need to be coloured grey, and also i have to model the entrance:

Just for that I'll give you :trophy:! Despite the high detail it is an amazing piece of work!

Is that a real church? I can't find anything similar anywhere. Otherwise I agree with Mirc, it's almost too detailed. It looks a little bit like it's covered with blobs.

Jewel of the Northern monks.

I think that i finished them, now i only have one special house to model, for the metropolis, but that is easy.

I am not really happy with the centerpiece of the large town. I made it out of bits and pieces of everything else since i gave up on finding a unique, different style of russian medieval church. Those were either impossible to model (St Basil), or very similar to what i had.
Anyway, do you think the centerpiece is decent?

It looks amazing, but in my biased view unrealistic. If you want to have a blast then replace the one in the middle by N1 (from the right) and move the central one to the left. You could then add a bell tower to the righmost position and it would look perfect. That is my biased opinion.
