DRM and online activation?

Hi guys...

I'm a bit confused. I found that there are several different version to buy and of course i'm interested in the special edition ... I've bought every single Civ until today but i'm really thinking about not buying the current one because I heard that even the DVD versions have to acitivated online...

Can someone confirm this? Or is my information incorrect?

Yes, all versions will require steam activation.

Tzk, silly question, because of the evil DRM of course. I mean, a one-time online activation ? Come on, you must be kidding !

I have an essential problem with online activation. When I go into a store and buy a DVD it's mine. I've paid for it and (aside from the fact that i'm not allowed to copy and distribute it -> which is ok) In my opinion I can do everything with it. Can play it everywhere, can install it as many times as I want. Don't have anyone to tell when I installed it ...

This entire Steam thing stinks. I'm not going to support it.
