[DRN-001] BtS Any Which Way You Can

I've been lurking, and have been enjoying the game thus far.
A word of encouragement, do not be afraid of the war you have decided on in advance. I believe you are well prepared. It's when the AI declares war on you once you click "end Turn" to begin your round that things can get exciting.

It's been a lot of fun reading the progress of this :bts: game in particular. You have a colorful team and the game is well played.
Good luck!
*Powers up lurker cloaking device* :scan:

Goal for the round is to build up army and galleons for upcoming war.

Shared Turn: (299 Turns, 1395 AD) Looks like Azaris only played 14 turns. Will play 16 to 315. Sell Divine Right to Zara for 210 gold and world map, for

upgrades. Upgrade 1 galley to galleon.

Turn 1: Give Gunpowder to Roosevelt. Hopefully he can deal with barbs on his own now. But probably not.

Turn 3: Mil Trad is in, choose Steel for cannon. Roosevelt converts to Hinduism.

Turn 4: Check to see where Statue of Zeus is, Brennus built it, not sure what city

Turn 5: Zara wants to trade world map. As ours is a lot more complete than his, I decline. We shouldn't trade world maps with anyone anymore. Deer give +8 food in Atlanta.

Turn 8: Behold, Catherine's ugly boyfriend:

mdr_stalin0000.jpg

Can't figure out where he is.

Trade Military Tradition to Roosevelt to get back in Caste System and Free Religion. It was the only way, I don't have a lot of experience with vassals. We want him in free religion and not in emancipation right?

Trade Music and Drama to Catherine for Banking. I pass on Mercantilism, we need the money from trade routes. Research at 50% with 13gpt surplus.

Turn 10:
Privateer done, will go create mischief on Hammurabi.

Turn 12: 2 grens and a treb get to the barb city. I gamble getting Treb a free promotion at 80% odds but lose. 2 grens clean up easy. I keep the city, will gift to Roosevelt next turn.

Privateer pillages all fishing boats outside of Babylon, no sign of any navy response

Turn 13: Steel is in, research Economics for free merchant and trade route.
Some prisoner event, take +1 relations with Roosevelt. I figured more espionage points would be pointless.

Nice! Source of Silver discovered near Seattle! Sent some workers to road it up.

Great Prophet born in Washington. Can decide what to use him for, golden age or settle.

Privateer healing in ocean, I suggest doing more pillaging once he's full health.

Turn 14: Miami asks to join American Empire. I heard this was annoying, don't do this or it will become a vassal city.

*edit*: turn off advisor pop ups to disable this.

Load 2 grenadiers and our medic 2 chariot to come back for the war.

Turn 15: Roosevelt seems he can hold his own now. We can get the level 3 chariot back now. We can upgrade it to a Curassiar.

I suggest only building units in Washington. Cannon and Grenadiers. Don't tie up our best production city with wonders.

I don't think we're ready for war yet, need more troops.

Got it at 10:19 PM (Montreal/NY time), about 40 minutes after it was posted.

Sorry : Going to bed to read some Stephen King. Am too tired to focus on the complexity of managing an empire.

I will play my turns tomorrow morning.

EDIT > Finished at 09:55 AM. Will post analysis + save (below) before 10:40.

I forgot to mention we have worker sleeping in Houston. Suggest you gift him to Roosevelt.

Cathy has too much on her hands. She could be planning to attack almost anyone except Brennus. That includes us and Roosevelt.

I agree we should stop building wonders for now, but the SoL is one we want to get if we can.

T.315 (1475 AD - njorls's ending) :

Our Treasury has 636 gold at a 50% research-rate.

CONCLUSION :

1. My predecessor left a Treasury of 636 gold at 50% RR.
I leave my successor a Treasury of 1643 gold at 50%.
2. I leave my successor 2 Great Persons to invest as he sees fit !
3. I leave my successor only 3 turns of Research on my last project.
4. No city is tied-up in a long-term production project.
5. I have not declared a war and have not managed any military operation.
6. I have not done any change in the Spy ops sector.
7. I have not moved our fleets : did not know what to do with them.
8. Chicago has a morale unrest problem. I should have built a Colosseum first, but Jail will be finished soon.

Now that Hammy is at war with 2 civs, do you anticipate to join the fray relatively soon ?

I built jails to reduce war unrest in our cities, for that eventuality.

I would've built mostly grens, but then again it wasn't my turnset.

Russia vs. Babylonia will hopefully be a phony war, but in case it isn't we must beware that Hammy vassalizes himself to Cathy. That would mean a juggernaut right on our doorstep. Then again the AIs are so hopelessly behind in tech that we could just assemble an invasion fleet and basically sail it wherever we want and take any capital we'd like.

Let's do that, the capital thingy.

We have actually got 5 GP stored up. At this stage of the game lightbulbs are beginning to lose their power. Academies would be potentially useful. Trade missions are relatively valuable. Golden Age would also be useful.

We're at the stage where we can basically afford to do anything. But what do we do?

I would've built mostly grens, but then again it wasn't my turnset.

Sorry...but I am not a warmonger. I built jails, though, to prepare for possible unrest problems in a protracted war you guys might want to conduct. Chicago, for example, is already experiencing a sensitive morale situation.

For fairly short lived wars you can get by with theatres and running culture at a decent percentage for the duration of the war. Long term wars its probably best to wait for fascism and combine jails, rushmore and police state.
