A notorious Dutch weblog (www.geenstijl.nl) has decided to give direct democracy a boost. They are planning on running for a seat in Dutch Parliament, and let all the decisions to be made by this virtual MP to be decided on internet polls by the members of their blog.

Every voting decision of this MP will be decided by internet polls. And proposal this MP will make will come directly from the people on the weblog.

The voting system will be open source and as safe as possible according to their site. Their site will also include discussion forums to let the party members discuss their opinions, and link to research and inquiry's they think are needed to base your decision as party member on.

Is this the future of Democracy? :king:

We will participate in the 2007 parliamentary elections

Given that, as things stand, there won't be any parliamentary elections in the Netherlands next year, I think we're safe for now....
