Dwarf Fortress

BoatMurdered seems to read like a guide of how not to build a succesful fort.

At least thats what I gathered from their constant death.

Well, it's a bunch of goonies. If the ones who wrote that are anything like the ones I know from Eve, the entire point was to die as often as possible, in as entertaining a method possible.

Hey, the dwarf fortress wiki didn't give answers and the dwarf fortress forums aren't accepting registrations, so I'll ask it here. If there are no fish in your units screen, does that mean that a fisherdwarf is useless? If the answer is no, does fishing in murky pools ever give any fish?

I don't recall fish being listed in the unit screen.

They are if you have a visible population of fish, such as in a stream or river.

Important: CFC lacks attention to this game and I believe it is time we do a succession game. Each player plays one year before saving and uploading the save to give to the next person in line to play for a year. We will do this until the fort is dead. Sign up if interested. Also use an unmodded version so we don't get crazy glitches. I suggest an area no larger than 3x3 so we keep lag issues down for some people.

I'll do it as long as we make the play requirement no longer than a year. I'd be fine playing maybe 2-3 seasons some days, but a year may be to long. Play as long as you like as long as it doesn't surpass a year.

I'd give it a shot if you guys would be tolerant of my skillz rusting to NoOB level. I couldn't get back into the game before with the patch they released at the start of the year (too many changes).

In a cavern, by a canyon
lay a dwaaarven diamond mine
population fifty-seven
food supply, in decline

pull the lever, pull the lever
pull the lever, engineer
pull the lever, pull the lever
have no conscience, have no fear

Greedy nobles, requests endless
echo hooolow thought the caves
nobles revel in their riches
all the peasants lowly slaves

End their suffering, End their suffering
End their suffering, engineer
End their suffering, End their suffering
pull the lever, have no fear

Water flows now, through the tunnels
out the moooountain, down the side
while the nobles and the peasants
float together side by side...

not mine

I was told about this game about week ago. And I must say - wow... one of the greatest game I ever played (can not even imagine how it will play like when finished :-))
If one person can do this in 6 years, why the hell studios with 100+ people can not get at least near such perfection in 4 years??? Damn them.

But I love the details in this game:
One of my dwarves failed to crate the artifact... he becomes melancholy. Slowly moved through the fortress. Hw goes to the cemetery and lye down to one empty coffin. he was there for few minutes. Then the waiting for dead probably seems booring to him. So he stand up, go to my lovely waterfall in the meeting area and jump inside. Then he probably panic, quickly swim throught the tunel to the stairs and get out of the water. Then he just jump there again and drown himself. Unfortunatelly the miama aws all araun my magnificat room. I had to stop waterfall, rebuild the floor and wait till he rot away.

But Im glad to see, that Im not the only one who find this game absolutly perfect masterpiece.

PrinceScamp:
Yes. i read that his brother is somehow working on it. But I also read, that he is not helping so much - that the main part - coding, is done just by Toady.
But even in two people... still amazing work. Im just buildng my "best ever" fortress again :-)
This is how Dungeon Keeper should look like.

I was just playing adventure mode as a human spearman, named SPARTA, killing everyone in my guys home town. I was running around stabbing children and guards and being very spartan until the high priest says it's time for me to die. So he shoot me with his bow and the arrow hits my lung, bleeding badly, and I throw my spear before I die and pierce his heart. It was very gratifying to take him with me.

Where is your gods now!?

I've gotten back into the groove with DF now. I'd be game for one. Maybe if we started a separate thread it would gain momentum?

No succession game?
