Dwarf Tossing in Florida?

Huh. This is plain stupid. Here you have a lawmaker who riles against regulation and is hell bent on removing restrictions to freedom and liberty but whose proposal will only spawn more regulations and restrictions.

So the law gets repealed and dwarfs can now lend their services and lease their body to bar patrons for a fee. Great! A dwarf consents to be tossed for fun but while he assumes some of the risks involved in his work he can only assume so much. Being inherently a risky job, the State must necessarily lay down the rules on how he is to be tossed (horizontally or vertically), how far and how high, by whom (bar patrons who are not too drunk to have lost all sense of aim), how often a dwarf is tossed, where the dwarf is to be tossed (inside or outside the bar), how high and wide should bars be to be allowed to have dwarf tossing (higher ceilings, wider rooms), and most importantly, the kind of work benefits and hazard pay to be given to dwarfs (-ves?) who do overtime work. Eh.

I don't think the dwarf tossing business generates that much of an income to justify the amount of money needed to regulate the job and the incidences of the workplace to ensure that no one dies or gets seriously hurt.

Prostitution, on the other hand, hauls in tons of money, that while dangerous and risky, may be regulated to such an extent that the State still earns surplus profits despite strict mandatory testing, licensing and regulation.

Florida actually saves more money by keeping the ban on dwarf tossing intact.

Wasn't this originally from The Onion?

Is the "Red Diamond" an additional joke by the CFC admins?

Moderator Action: No, but I am quite happy to remove the RD designation. I do applaud the effort to try and make this serious though. ;)

That said, doing something that leads to a high probability of giving your husband (Or wife) an STD should definitely be banned.

Freedom to kill yourself? That's fine, I'm OK with that.

Freedom to kill someone else? Not so much.

In that case I suggest we ban other high risk profession such as nurses, bio-weaponry engineers and cabin crew (3 professions which I never thought i'd lump into one group :crazyeye:) , to name just a few.

IF this passes, John-Rhys Davies needs to dress up as Gimli and request to be hired, then sue for discrimination if he is refused.

Yes, because all STDs kill you. :nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke:

Well, or harm someone else.

Well, should married people really be prostitutes? Think about the problems this could cause. Its simply wrong to do that to a spouse.

Now, the unmarried? That's their business.

This practice should remain outlawed, its a terrible thing and should not be considered amusing.

Why exactly?

Also, why does "Should not be considered amusing" = "Should be banned"?

Are you seriously advocating that we ban people from participating in an activity which might result in them contracting a disease and then might be spread to someone else who chose to have sex with them?

How much more authoritarian can you get?

Chose apparently without knowledge of what career they are doing which is causing this danger. The future-prostitute could naturally file for divorce.

But, within marriage, yes.

Yes, because of STD risk. A risk the person who married them (Probably) didn't consent too. If they consented to it, fine, but why would they?
Since babies can be made without convental sex, should sex be banned since it carries with it a STD risk? Or are you only for a government mandate forcing potential sex capitalists to give away their goods and services rather than sell them on the free market? What makes the government better at solving the STD problem than the free market? Don't you think if sex was a more freely marketable commidity, it would incentivize the free market leaders in the industry to solve the STD problem?
