Only in the sense that it is a story and it could never end. It's a game that has little dwarfs that run around digging huge underground cities and fighting off goblins and things. People just pick a dwarf and have fun hearing what happens to them.
Game is rather fun but takes ages to get use to and to not make horrible game ending mistakes like drilling into the bottom of a lake or starting off without a farmer.

Tradition mostly and because its mostly NESers. This is the seventh DwarfNES so its not like I would just change it up.

It may not be a very orthodox NES, but if I'm correct, "players" are still able to make suggestions on design, character behavior, ambitions of the fort, etc. Not exactly like a NES, but also not exactly like an AAR.
Also, yes, with a precedent of not one, but six others of its kind before it, it seems fairly obvious that none of the moderators have had a problem with this concept.

Lucky is digging holes by putting too much effort into these updates. I suggest we all encourage him to keep screenshots etc to a minimum and not worry about other things so long as the game gets going.
