DWG01-Behind Enemy Lines, OCC, AW

Yes, I am still watching the thread, I just never did a One City Challenge so I do not know what would be the next move:confused:. I was thinking of picking this up tonight but I am up in another SG and vra379971 is playing, so I guess I will try for tomorrow, unless someone else beats me to it.;)

Sansman, Im gonna have Greyfox go next and put you further down the list if you dont mind. What i would like you to do is to play a OCC game on your own and by the time the save gets back to you, youll have at least played a OCC by then. Even if you only play 100 turns, youll have a better idea of what to do in our SG. Not to mention, I find the OCC fun anyway.

So the roster is
Cabledawg......played
VRA................playing now
Greyfox...........on deck
ruff_hi.............Chomping his bits
negyvenketto...scratching his anal warts
Sansman.........Hopefully playing a OCC and loving it

Well. What to tell you. I built a Wall, some wisemen decided to found Hinduism, and a barb attacked a Marine. We sadly lost a Marine...ok, so I'm pulling ya leg.

hmmn - ok, I bow to the greater knowledge of the OCC players. One small point re fog busters is that they can also stop barbs that are inside our borders but outside the wall from pillaging pastures and farms on vital resources.

VRA, One of the things I like about reading other peoples succesion games is the pictures and explanations of what happened which can give our own players as well as lurkers a better idea and immersion in the game. I get no immersion in your rounds .

We need more immersion...lol

Can you post a better report and did you save any pics?
If not, will you do so next time?

Ruff, We wont have any farms or resources outside our borders. But I left fogbusters on our western front mainly to see if we get any AI incursions and give us time to pump out units if we get some.

Ruff: but the walls grow with borders ... though not reflected graphically on screen ... anyway, fog busters are good to attract barbs ... gain exp that way. If we are not chopping forests, then we need to place defenders along our borders to prevent enemies from using our forests as protective terrains.

That said, this week is a bad week for me (precisely why I have not posted a got it ;)) ... I am however free from Fridays onward (48hrs later)

Do we want to try Pyramids, too? Would be quite useful. If we don't scout our continent can delay making contacts with enemy (ie. everybody else :D ) -> they won't send units against us.

I looked at VRA save and hes 11 turns from completing the Pyramids which is huge for us considering we allready have 2 settled Priest. We have allready made contact. Our marines are near everyones capitol.

I have the game.

Barbarian: Oo, you there working the fields, I'm coming over then and ransacking your farm, you better get ready!
Farm Hand: Good Morning to you! Are you having a nice day?
Barb: Did you hear me, hear I come [rattling of club, shield and suitable aggressive grunts]
FH: Excuse me Sir, do you see that wall along the ridge line behind me ... that 30' tall, 10' wide wall?
B: err ... yes.
FH: Do you see the white line just in front of your feet?
B: err ... no.
FH: [thinking to himself ... oh, right ... I've been watching too much NFL on the TV and I keep forgetting that the TV puts in the line of scrimage, 10 yard line etc]
FH: Oh ... err ... not to worry. Anyway, the power of the German people (that is us) has grown and we control more land.
B: We'll see about that [starts to take a step forward]
FH: Wait, wait, wait ... because our power has grown, we control more land and that wall behind me, is actually right in front of you, but you just cannot see it. So, just to let you know ... there is a 30' tall wall right in front of you and you cannot get over it!
B: Oh ... err ... right you are gov! [wanders off]

I played 15 turns from 07:28:41 to 07:38:32 ... who said playing 15 turns takes a long time. We got the Pyramids and monotheism on the same turn. We revolted ...

Civics Change: Marines(Marine) from 'Despotism' to 'Representation'
Civics Change: Marines(Marine) from 'Paganism' to 'Organized Religion'

... but we didn't become Jewish ...

I visited our jarheads in the field and found that some AIs had been stiffled very well ... maybe too well? What happens if they just turtle for the whole game? Is monarch level too low?

After monotheism, I started Pottery (we would do well with a grainery - it would be good to have that to build, it would also help me to learn to spell it correctly :D) and we need to get a wriggle on for the CS slingshot. I also had a 'build' decision. Options include the Temple of Artemis which is really good in an OCC game (double trade! General Question: Is this double trade for the city that builds the wonder only or for all cities?) but not in this game (always war = no trade). I could build stonehenge (4 turns!) but decided not to polute our GE points (yet). We can knock it off if the group decides it is worth it. I did start the Parthenon (22 turns, ignore the log ... that is because we are in revolt).

My one worker just roaded the hill and some forests (not the plains GF noted!).

We have sheep in our control, not pastured yet but we are miles away from our health limit. We also have horses ...

... but only in the next expansion (from memory, we are about 300 at plus 9 per turn heading towards 750 ... err 45 turns, maybe 30 turns now or a little less with the culture from the Pyramids).

One major issue that we will be running into soon is happiness - we are out our cap of 5 so we should build a temple (if we had the tech) or head towards the globe theatre.

I checked back on the spainish just at the end of the turn to find this ...

Well, at least one AI has ventured out!

jarheads!

Why we don't have religion, yet? It helps with +1 happiness. Is the org. religion giving +25% prod. without religion? After the 2 important wonder I would go for some defense (land+naval) it's AW after all. Although Hatty seems to be frightened by our marines and doesn't even think about offense. But do the others feel the same?

Why we don't have religion, yet?
We do have the holy city for hindu - didn't check if we had adopted it yet.

Although Hatty seems to be frightened by our marines and doesn't even think about offense. But do the others feel the same?
We could only see into three capitals (others hidden in the fog) and Hatty was the worst. The others had build lots of units but not so much as Hatty.

Oh the humanity.....lol...I looked at the save and we havent even adopted our religion so we arent getting the hammer bonus.

Ruff, that was an excellent post. About Stonehenge. Since we should be settling any Great Engineers and Prophets, then polluting the pool at this point may be a nonissue. I think we should put the 4 turns into Stonehenge and grow....were in Representation now, so our happy cap is like 9. Maybe head to Oracle for COL. What path did you guys have in mind for Oracle? negyvenketto, youre up next, what are your thoughts? Did 15 turns seem too short...should we extend it to 15-20 turns...whatever the player feels like playing? Im thinking sticking with 20 until the napalm hits.

Roster
Cabledawg......gonna have a pillow fight with a one arm cat
VRA................wondering where the beef is
Greyfox...........Can he play after negyvenketto
ruff_hi.............just played
negyvenketto...needs to post a "got it"
Sansman.........Hopefully still playing a OCC and loving it

OK, I got it. I will convert to hindu, and build stonhenge. Research BW, Priesthood, than we should go for writing, math (for Hanging Gardens, another GE wonder +health). MC is more expensive than CoL, if we get Oracle.

I played 20 turns. Built Stonhenge in 5 turns (moved 1 citizen to clams).

Turn 96 (1120 BC)
Start granery, citizen back to mine to set next growth after completing it.
Start research BW

Turn 99 (1030 BC)
granary -> 2 archers, citizens to clams accelerating growth.

Turn 101 (985 BC)
We are not wealthy :mischief: (I had to reduce sci rate to 80% to get +1gpt)

Turn 105 (925 BC)
BW -> priesthood (switch to slavery)
Archer -> Parthenon (not to finish it just for the money if somebody builds it, since there is nothing else useful to build.)
We have copper, but quite far

Turn 110 (850 BC)
Important decisions to make
Pristhood -> Sailing? (for trireme) or IW (we need some metal for decent units)
Build Temple first (we are at happyness limit) or Oracle?

Border expanded, worker started to pasture horse, we can build chariots soon. Great Person in 6 turns. Our City

The save

As far as I can see, your best option is going to be a beeline to Mil Trad, then stack the Marines and do a take down while, if we hurry, they have longbows.

Good set negyvenketto (you got a nickname, can we call you negy). I think we should get Oracle and take COL or Theology with it. Every religion now is a 1 additional happy face (Temple) and more research (monastary). So maybe even bulbing a prophet on a religion isnt bad. 20 Turns seems about right so well stick with that. But dont feel obligated to play 20.

Cabledawg.......lost a pillow fight with a one arm cat
VRA................farts smell like roses
ruff_hi.............goes to Taco Bell just for the atmosphere
negyvenketto...just played
The Sansman...up and needs to post a "got it"
Greyfox...........On Deck unless he needs a skip till friday

How the hell did it become my turn so quickly. I was planning on play a 'quick' OCC game tonight. I want to try one so this is my got if you guys can wait for me to play tomorrow.
