DWG01-Behind Enemy Lines, OCC, AW

Okay, I've stopped playing...why? I need advice.

Should we build the National Epic? Seeing how were building all these wonders, we might as well and stack the capital with GPs, get to Mil trad, and end this game.

lurker's comment: i would say for your capital build the globe theater , along with the NE, there so you whip like crazy

I would prefer keep the city in high pop and run specialists instead of whipping. Globe is a must have, of course.

i would say for your capital build the globe theater , along with the NE, there so you whip like crazy
Hmmm ... what does NE got anything to do with whipping?

Anyway, agree with negy, I don't think we would be whipping after the globe. Ironical, eh? We would whip before the globe, to get rid of angry persons.

Why do we not whip with globe? Because it is simply not worth it. Growth after size 10 will take more than the amount hammers gained.

well i meant that i agreed with your plan to build the Ne in the capital not that that has anything to do with whipping

Well. That was a busy turnset. (Not really)

I built the GL, the GL, Nat'l Epic and the Globe Theater.

And, I decided to build an Academy to add a boost to research.

- Now we've gotten every wonder. And the AI's have no infrastructure that I've seen...so yeah...Anyway, here's the save. I have a feeling no-one's goign to be getting past Archers but us.

I also dont see a need to whip anymore. We need those specialist in place. We also need to jump back, grab Meditation, build a Monastary and head for CS. There is something Im curious about. At what point do we stop growth because of unhealthiness. 3, 4, 5 unhealthiness...I dont know when it becomes nonproductive and we could have had specialist. We also could grab Engineering before getting to Cavalry to prebuild some trebs.

I guess you could call this the round of the growth. I maxed food ...

... that set the city to grow, grow, grow. Tech-wize, we set sail for civil service and then Mil Trad. We also got a border pop that brings some fish into our control. We have a fishing boat en-route - that means +1 health. We should think of getting guilds for the market and ... do we have a harbour yet?

By the end of my round, I had changed civics to Bureaucracy and Caste System after hitting our health limit. We should think about how far we want to go past this limit (if at all). We got an artist (settled) as well as a scientist (also settled). They would lightbulb monarchy which is not on our tech path.

We actually learnt a tech while in anarchy! A double swap was 2 turns of anarchy but we learnt Meditation between turns 1 and 2. I've shown the log but changed round the entries so that they are in the order that they actually occured.

Turn 204/0 (560 AD) [19-Feb-2007 07:42:45]
Tech learned: Civil Service

IBT:

Turn 205/0 (575 AD) [19-Feb-2007 07:44:05]
Research begun: Monarchy (479 Turns)
Civics Change: Marines(Marine) from 'Barbarism' to 'Bureaucracy'
Civics Change: Marines(Marine) from 'Slavery' to 'Caste System'
Tech learned: Meditation

Finally, I think our marines are really limiting the AIs ability to expand. Here is peter with 3 fishing boats sitting in his cities while at least 2 ocean resources are undeveloped.

I can play 3-5 hours from now.
Do we beeline Mil tradition now? Fine, but we also need gunpowder to build cavalry! I would go for Paper, Education (Oxford), Gunpowder. Even getting Mil. tradition from Liberalism makes sense since it's cheaper. Banking also useful 'cos Mercantilism means a free specialist (+bank=commerce=faster research).

Current research is philo so we can branch off to get the other required techs (gunpowder and rifling). Negyven... 's suggestion of education etc, makes good sense.

The save

I suggest we build units to go out and get some XP. We really are gonna want to be able to build units in 1 turn, so we need Heroic Epic. Maybe with enough skirmishes, we can get a Great General. My suggestion for him is for a warlord medic. If we do that, wont that open up West Point when we get Military Tradition? If we build a chariot, assign a warlord to him, promote him to Medic 3...is that enough for West Point or do we need Vassalage and/or Theocracy to push him over the threshhold. Can someone crunch those numbers. Before we get to Cavalry, shouldnt we get engineering and start building some trebs. Well at least have those out of the way.

Sorry for the delay in getting the report done.

Here is what happened; first we got a Great Artist which I merged with the city. I do not remember what he would have light bulbed for us, but I do remember that it was not really worth it.

When the University finished I decided that to build the Angkor Wat and I fired one of the scientists to reduce the number of turns that it would be completed (8 turns instead of 9). This did not reduce the number turns that the next Great Person would come in. I chose the Angkor Wat to help increase our productions a bit instead of the University of Sankore. Though, I think that this should be our next Wonder after Angkor Wat.

We learned Engineering (sorry I forgot to take a picture :hammer2:) in 1025AD. At this point I remembered that we are supposed to start harassing someone to gain some experience. So I sent some troops over to visit Hatshepsut in the hopes of battling some of her Archers. I also decided to go for Nationalism as the next tech. I also noticed that we still have not mined the copper or the other hill  so I sent the worker to first mine the copper. I do not know if there was a reason for not doing this,:dunno: I just thought that we may as well have access to the resource. The other hill I think we should mine in case we get lucky and something useful pops there.

An archer dies to a Greek Archer it was my mistake for not moving it into safe territory :wallbash:. The next turn did bring some good news:

I first set Berlin to build us a Maceman and then I merged the Great Merchant into the city. I decided to build two Maceman for some experience building to get the Heroic Epic. I also used a Crossbow to kill a Greek Archer. After the second Maceman I set Berlin to build the University of Sankore (8 turns). We also learned Nationalism so I set us on to Liberalism next so that we could pick up Military Tradition with the free tech (again, I forgot to take a picture :wallbash: :hammer2:).

I have sent both Macemen out to visit Egypt.

This is how I left Berlin.

As previously mentioned, we still need to get Horseback Riding and Gunpowder before we can get Calvary, but we are not that far away from either :D. Perhaps after we get the Calvary rolling we should look into improving Berlin's health.

Ruff_hi: I hope the pictures here better for you. Also I must say I am finding you Mod Pack is pretty good .
