EA recalls illegal brass knuckles shipped ot video game press

What a free country we have.

Isn't there something about keeping and bearing arms in the highest law?

Metallic Coloured Plastic I can understand, however real brass knuckles? its more costly and illegal... EA should know more about cutting corners than anyone

Knuckles aren't arms :p

They're... paper weights. That so happen to bear a striking resemblance to an illegal weapon. ;)

EA recalls illegal brass knuckles shipped to video game press. Epic fail?

D'oh, those interns!!!! Epic fail if a fired employee of a gamer review website proceeds to go on a rampage with said brass knuckles.

But if you say they're paperweights, I'll say that about my auto Tommy gun that EA shipped me in with my pre-order of Godfather II. ;)

What I would like to know is how receiving brass knuckles is supposed to help game reviewers do their job. ;)

More seriously, it's always disturbing to see just how much influence publishers have over the review scores that the gaming media puts out. They give out so much free swag and literally pay the bills for these websites via advertising revenue - can you really get objective opinions under those conditions? I tend to doubt it. Especially ever since IGN awarded Master of Orion 3 a 9.1 score, while ad banners for the game were prominently displayed all over the website...

Most like this resulted from the legal department not having expertise in the relevant area of the law (or EA didn't bother to check with them). These companies and their lawyers are experts in copyright and contract law, not rules pertaining to weapons.
