Easy question...is buying a new verison or BTS going to work?

Hi, I have had no luck in fixing my constant crashing due to graphic memory. I've tried all the fixes in the fix it list and then some. Upgraded to 2GB of memory and am running on a Dell 1505E/6400 purchased last year with 256 video card so I feel I am above min. requirements. I've downloaded from omegadrivers.net and still no luck.

Does it make sense for me to purchase a new DVD for the PC? I bought an original version, or is upgrading to 1.74 the same? I've upgraded to 1.52 already, which according to 2k is the best for graphics problems. Should I just upgrade to 1.74.

Does BTS fix any of these problems, or just cause more (as it seems by some posts)?

So to sum up, does it make any sense to try and buy a newer version, or am I likely to run into the same problems?

You should only need to buy it once. Try the patch to 1.74. The note on 2k's site about 1.52 was posted when that was a new patch.
BtS and Warlords seemed to improve the game's performance on my old PC but, and I'm a cheap sucker, I wouldn't buy the expansions just for a barely perceptible performance boost.
The additions and balancing of BtS 3.13 Unofficial seem to be widely liked. If the 1.74 improves playability for you then you may want to pick up an expansion down the road.

I'm going to try upgrading to 1.74, with the 1.61 patch in between. Then I'll upgrade to the newest possible driver and see how it goes...
