Editor wish-list

Ok, If these are already up, just double the need for them...

1. Ability to do all buildings replaced by others with this box checked for more than just one time, be able to do that for four or 5 of them.

2. Ability to make my Provincial Government to work, improvements can have more than one capital.

3. make it obvious for vs government bonuses...... anyone who's tried to figure this out will understand, whether a positive number makes it harder or easier to switch, and from the government your editing to the one on the list or the other way around.

If you want a total rehaul, I have many ideas to make it more realistic and still do good for scoring purposes.

I would like to see added to the editor:
*ability to make vendettas, and friendships. Ala Civ2.

*Unique Civ Techs

*more control over the various files that need to be changed....i.e... if you add a new Unit, there is a place to put the info for the civilopidia, the pedicons, and so on and so forth.

*Like everyone else says make less stuff hardcoded, you don't have to support the features such as add civilizations and such, just let us work with them, if we break it, then we won't complain.

*allow an option to upgrade an army

*not sure if this would be possible, but be able to set that one certain unit could not damage another...i.e. a spearman should not be able to damage a modern armor at all.

*a way to set movement based on map size...i.e. the battle ship should have say 5 movement points on a tiny map, but on a huge map 15 movement points would better simulate ship movement, and allow a navy to be used in the huge world size

that's all for right now, I'll think of some more later
[pimp]

also a togle for gaining a tech when conquring another civ's city like in civ2

I never understood what vendetta was anyways.

Vendetta was a beautiful thing, basicly it ment that one civ hated the other with a passion. i.e. hitler and the allies in the WW2 senario in civ2, they both had had vendettas against eachother. how often did you see hitler and the allies make peace????

actually, all the time. Usually played the Russians and had to fight the Axis on my own.

Commenting on other stuff, if you'll make it so that you can grant autonomy, then I'll propose my idea...... have civilizations start at different times, some will have to come by breaking off of others, if corruption is too high, too much unhappiness, or whatnot. Then you can consolidate back in when corruption is more workable. Also barbarian groups can take over cities and create new civs, hopefully you can have up to 50 civs or so.

Also, corruption should be measured not by physical distance, but by movement distance. Decreased by connecting roads, decreased more by rail, non-existant by air travel. Decreased with the advent of the automobile too.

I'd also LOVE to see where you can actually edit the society's nature more than just it's government, should they be puritanical or heathenistic..... should they be racist or non-racist.... is there slavery, and how so? Is it matriarchal or patriarchal? I have a whole list. Seperate them into governmental, social and economic. similarities mean better conquering and better chance of consolidation. Also if they had originally broken off of you.

And there could also be, as opposed to wonders, just simply everyone gets gods...... as needed, and you can do different things by building temples to them, you lose the bonuses as you sway from religion to science, and gain them if you move oppositely.

And there should be city walls encountered before you can develop catapults, find horses before you can learn horseback riding... these would be nice additions, and the ability to add more... this would also allow a less linear development which makes more sense.

One more thing for now, 1 turn=1 year... slow down science in the beginning..... some of us like the ancient wars, let us have at them.. I'm sick of not being able to have good battles until the middle ages, and then just crushing my opponents outright.

Civ 3 was still the greatest game I've ever played, I'm just very big on constructive criticism.

What I would most like to see is terrain-specific movement for each unit and each terrain. For instance you could make a spearman only use three-quarters of the movement on grassland, and in fantasy scenarios you could amke everybody go slower than dwarves in mountains, elves in forests, hobbits in grasslands, etc... than every civ would really have an advantage in hteir native terrain types...

Another thing would be that you should be able to limit governments to not be valid until certain wonders are built, that'd help me out a lot.

Yeeargh!

PLEASE open all the "Wonder" options to both Great and Small Wonders. I really want to do things such as have Small Wonders be rendered obselete!

* How about a unit flag that determines when a unit becomes obsolete? Not upgradable, but removed from the build list.
That way Longbowmen, Frigates, Ironclads and Japanese horsemen disappear from the list at some point...

-destandardize EVERYTHING, meaning we can set x% increase on commerce/prod/etc, or make any improvement/unit buildable to ALL civs (hint: Manhattan Project), etc etc

-govt specific units

-ability to add worker actions

-'carries motorized units only' flag (tank, modern armor, mech infantry, etc). There would also have to be a 'motorized' flag for units as well.

-make different levels of laborers - ie. a laborer that produces one extra shield or food, or maybe doubles it.

-dont know how to implement this, but the ability to make it so each civ can research only one of several techs. ie. - I want to make it so a civ can only research Polytheism OR Monotheism, not both. It would kinda be like choosing a religion, and each would reap their own benefits.

Make an option that allows some units to bombard from a transport. I'm sure catapults and cannons have been placed on ships. I'm not sure about artillery though...

I think one common problem in the editor is that we can't really decide EXACTLY what units can load onto what transports. I want to be able to choose to make my AEGIS Cruiser carry tac nukes and cruise missiles ONLY. I don't want to start messing around with flags, cause that would cause other transport units to carry the wrong things. You see what I mean?

possiblity to add more terrain and resources would be great for scenarios. possibility add more than three resources required for a unit would also be great.

Some ideas that should be easy(ish) to implement:

* Allow units to require a particular building in the city (eg cannot build Battleship without a Harbour)

* Allow the "requires resources to be in city radius" flag to apply to Improvements as well as to Small Wonders.

* Allow different units to have different support cost (a Battleship costs more to maintain than a Worker)

* Separate flags for Governments indicating whether they have to pay support for: Non-military Units (0 attack, 0 bombard, not airbourne) and Military Units (anything else). For example, the Roman Empire might enslave its own people as unpaid workers, but still have to pay for its military.

* Allow Road Movement to change with techs. I'd like to modify Motorised Transport to double movement along roads!

* Allow Governments to change the maintenance costs of particular buildings

* Allow Governments to be made unavailable to particular civs

* Expose "base leader generation probability" in editor

cheers,
Bill Billingsley (whb)

I would like to see bigger maps, like 5X the large map

I would like to see tile improvement added:
Power powers
Canals
National Parks
Army/Navy/Airforce Bases
Dams
maybe even Funparks

I would like to see the game slow down, I have had to added dozens of advancements to slow the game down.

:nuke::nuke::nuke:

* Civilopedia editor
* Unit image/animation editor
* Compatible with all versions
* No bugs/crashes
* Minimap

There are a few things the editor lacks that it absolutely should have had the day the game was released.
Help me compile this list of absolute must-haves.
-Editor mini-map
-More support for fan created units

Hmm... I had a few more ideas... GTG to class now:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:
Help add to the list!

Make it possible for resources/improvements/units/etc. to be gained from future techs X(where X is a variable). This way it could be possible to have maybe a "cow dung" resource from future tech 10. You never know, man could find a very good use for cow dung just like it has found uses for many other things.
