Introducing Abbasid! Unified by the new religion of Islam, the early Arab caliphates expanded rapidly across the Mediterranean and eastward into Persia. In this world, Baghdad, the capital of the Abbasid dynasty, thrived as a center of learning and culture. Arab scholars advanced astronomy and mathematics, philosophy and art - until, like the fall of night, the Mongols appeared on the eastern horizon.

Relics back! I love the references to mechanics we don't know about yet, great for the hype!

Congrats on beating Bite! :D

What is a Madinat? An older name for the Ulema?

> receive increased Combat Strength for every Urban Population in this Settlement

What's the logic behind this one?

"Can only be built in Cities with a Madīnat, and the specific Ālim received is random. Each Ālim can only be received once. Cost increases per Ālim built."

is this a typo? I don't see a ref to Madinat elsewhere
Could Madinat be a universal building?

I suspect the UQ name "Ulema" and the UA name "Medina" are somehow mistakenly switched, since to my knowledge "Ulema" never refers to a building or an establishment (it means Islamic scholars), while "Medina" literally means "city."

And to receive great persons (who are also Islamic scholars), you need to build up their UQ (which developed from religious and educational institutions), which seems logical.

I'll be curious to see more about religion, though it looks like it's just going to be the Civ5 Religion v3... :(

So the Mosque allows you to found a religion. Does that mean not every Exploration Age civ will be able to found one?

I think the others can found their religion from the other way - like common civic trees, wonders, or events.

Abbasid can found theirs from the first unique civic tree bonus. I consider they're faster than the others.

This is my interpretation as well. It's a variant of their Civ6 ability.

It’s probably a Abbasid-specific alternative to a generic Temple. The Temple allows for the founding of a Religion, while the Mosque does the same but with added benefits

I'd guess no. It's very specifically like an Arabian "fortified palace-city."

I assume it's the unique quarter, and Ulema is another name for Alim
Okay, another typo issue from the official revealing content. I'm not surprised... We've seen desert for Han before.

I still highly suspect that the Wang Yangming in the Han guide is very likely a Ming unique great person misplaced on that page.
