Just a lurker comment:
I can't see the rest of the area, but it looks like it might be worthwhile to move red dot one tile directly west. Less overlap, still on river, and more forest vs. more jungle = win.

Got it.
Egypt needs some slapping. How about pulling a warrior or two against their settler pairs, then declaring peace when we see their troops coming?

EM6 played- my 2nd turn but playturn 4!

Preflight chekcs ok.

Turn 1: Wash warr-settler. Boston founded. I designate it as a military factory, having nothing else to build.

Turn 2: nada.
Turn 3: ditto.
Turn 4: NY worker-worker.
TUrn 5: Bug egypt about a tech trade. Nothing to be done.
Turn 6:nada.
Turn 7: Washington settler-worker. Haggle Wheel+BW for Alphabet, 6gpt and 59 gold, but I don't buy it.
Turn 8: nada.
Turn 9: nada.
TUrn 10: Egypt brings an undefended settler into view. I block it with a scout.

Several options availaible here. Destroy settler, block settler, leave settler alone.

Turn 11: Settler did not move. A warrior caught up with it.
Turn 12: nada.
Turn 13: Washington warrior-settler. NY worker-warrior. Phialdelphia founded, giving us an across-the-continent line.
Turn 14: Settler still blocked.
Turn 15: Settle moves onto mountain.
Turn 16: Enemy settle still moving east.
Turn 17: Nada.
Turn 18: Washington settler-settler. Our warrior wallops the Egyptian one, kills him, captures 2 free workers.
Turn 19: Not much.
Turn 20: Boston barracks-warrior.

Washington's borders will expand next turn. I saw an egyptian warrior east of Pi-Ramesses.
Make peace with Egypt when it feels useful, I.E. if their units are next to washington. Try to keep the war going as long as possible, we want them out of settler mode.
Our settler is to move 1 square NW. Found another city on the hill by our western scout, it has freshwater and coastal access.
Next player 20 turns, then drop to 10.
Edit:
Oh right, the save.

Got it.

Will play tonight after work(around 9-10 pm EST) to give everyone time to discuss the game plan with Egypt.

OK.... actually I'm just too tired to play right now.

Actually, I thinik Erik's got it right :)

Push Egypt for all it's worth (pointy stick research) - but don't kill them off until we've got another tech trading partner!

I have to make an adnouncement. I will be leaving for my Grandparent's 50th Wedding aniversery.

The dates that I will be away is listed here. I expect to return by Monday July 14th.

Hmmmm.

Due to this being my first SG I'm having some newbie problems finding the folder to save the game into. Grrr..

This will be resolved ASAP. If anyone spots this before I post my turns & can help me out I would greatly appreciate it:D

@ Genghis: The whole file upload process is explain in this thread:

Hope that is what you were looking for. :goodjob:

Whew!! K figured it out, I'm taking my turns now & will post as soon as I finish.

So far just the PT isn't looking great, we're at war with our neighbor with only 5 warriors & a couple more on the way:(

Let's pray the RNG gods bless our supersticious Civ.

In looking back things don't look good. The RNGods didn't bless our civ at all this half millinium:( Things started OK and quickly went downhill from there.

Well here's the damage report.

PT Move 2 Egyptian workers building road out in middle of nowhere back to our territory for much needed improvements.

IT 3 Warriors move outa Pi-Ramssese Washington: Warrior-War.

Turn 1(1450)-> Move scouts away from pursing Egyptians. Warrior out of NY, send war produced in Washington to NY.

T5 zzzzzzz

IT Wash W-Barracks, Bos W-W, Spot an Egyptian settler moving outa Memphis

T6(1325) Micro a bunch, not much else

T16 (1075) zzzzzzzzz

IT Another warrior in forest killed by chariot, another warrior aproaching Pi retreats char(both redlined)

T17 Kill retreated chariot.

IT Scout killed spying on troop movement:mad:. Redlined warrior killed. NY War-w, Bos W-W, Wash W-Settler

T18 More warrior movement, not much else.

IT Warrior dies to chariot(redlined)

T19 (1000)- I decide to leave it at this without doing anything this turn, due in part to the nice year to leave it on, and mostly to my HORRIBLE luck with the RNG.

Lit due in 37, Washington to produce a settler in 3 turns(this can be changed if needed), lux tax is up to 10%.

Good luck Zwingli!! Hopefully you'll have a better go at it then mine:aargh: :wallbash: :suicide: :wallbash:

And the save

Remember that Egyptian War Chariots have 2 attacks. If you knew this, sorry, it doesn't seem to show in your post.
You mentioned Lit due in 37, but what was researchd before that?
No tech shown on turn 17.

Hmm, who downloaded the save?

Erik, I downloaded the save, but did not post a "got it" because I started immediately.

---------------
1000 BC (0) We can build only warriors (lacking Warrior Code for archers) and are facing Egypt in its Golden Age with War Chariots. Egypt has 10 cities to our 5, and we are gaining nothing from this war, so it is time to make peace (at any cost).

This will make our tech deficit even worse, but I give Egypt Writing + 8g for peace. Egypt is now 6 techs ahead, but all we need is Ironworking to upgrade some of our veteran warriors, and we might be able to extort our way back to parity. Egypt is very powerful, and is going to take more than 1 war to take down.

It is less expensive to research techs than to buy them if you only know 1 opponent, so I switch research to Bronzeworking due in 5 turns to get to Ironworking.

(1) Start temple in New York so that it can work forests for shields instead of desert. Switch some warrior builds to workers.

(2) Move warriors away from Egypt to our cities for Police purposes.

(3) Boston is set up to be our troops factory and can produce a warrior every other turn for a future upgrade.

(4) Washington completes Settler->Temple (we are religious!). Whip the temple in New York.

(5) Bronzeworking learned, start Ironworking due in 12 turns.

(6) Egypt founded a city on the site I was sending the settler to, so I redirect the settler to a secondary site. Egypt looks like it may sneak attack as a War Chariot is approaching.

(7) No Egyptian attack yet.

(8) Boston is set to build a temple before it resumes warrior production.

(9) Washington completes temple->settler. Lux tax is lowered due to the temple. Egypt completes the Great Pyramids in Thebes .

(10) The Egyptian Chariot is still wandering around close to Atlanta, but try not to prevoke it (if it enters our territory, don't demand that it leave). A war with Egypt at this point would be difficult.

em6_weakness.jpg

The best chance for dealing with Egypt is a swordsman upgrade in 10-15 turns to trim back some of their holdings on the border. Ironworking is due in 5 turns, and we have about 500g in the treasury which is enough to upgrade 12-13 warriors to swordsmen. Hopefully we have iron nearby, but if not try to find some in the jungle mountains to the south.

If Egypt already has all of the iron, the situation is difficult but certainly not impossible. Probably in that case we would have to try to peacefully coexist with Egypt and build our way up to tech parity.

The Save (I believe TedJackson is up)

I think this sums it up.

Yes, TedJackson is up since CivG and SAAM are on skip for the moment.

OK, Egypt are strong, but we knocked them out of settler mode. We lined across the continent, and are in a much better position to expand south than them.

playing soon
