I've got it, but I'd like some dotmapping help. We could push #1 and #3 a tile NW.

em6map.JPG

Where does the southeastern settler go? Looks unsatisfactory to me...

With this, we would have more cities than Egypt, and we will want little overlap and no ICS, as we are heading for space race.

Lurking dotmap veterans, please comment.

Hi Erik,

My thinking was to use site 1 (on your map) as a hub and build more or less as you've marked.

I was going to plant at 10 because we're right up against our "free units" limt. We can always abandon it later as the SW gets developed.

Site 9 is pretty marginal but what else is there? :)

EM6 TUrnlog:

IHT: Make dotmap, discuss it.

Turn 1: Atlante temple-barracks.
Naughty naughty. You left gotos.
IHT: Egypt build great Wall.

Turn 2: San Francisco founded. I start a harbor prebuild. Whipped temple in Philadelphia.

TUrn 3: Washington spear-spear. Boston settler-spear. Phil temple-worker.
IHT: Egypt found Pithom on the red dot hill. Die.
Turn 4: Troops moved.

Turn 5: Nothing really.

Turn 6: washington spear-spear.

TUrn 7: Boston spear-spear

Turn 8: Miami founded on Incense dot #1.

Turn 9: Whip temple in CHicago.
IHT: Learn Mapmaking, start Literature. Chicago temple-

Turn 10: Our Iron dries up, and we cant buy the Wheel! ¤&"#!

In conclusion, we have problems. I say invade Egypt with the swords we have. We can take 3 cities or so. Then build the Great Library and wait for a contact. Washington can be switched to galley, if you like.

Got it.

Although with my last luck with the RNG, I don't know if you want me to go to war again;).................:(

I have to work a double tomarow but I'll play after that(11pm EST or so). What's the common verdict among the group?? I definatly agree we have some SERIOUS catching up in tech to do, everyone think war is the way to do it??

Lemme know & start praying

Remember that Egyptian War Chariots have 2 attacks. If you knew this, sorry, it doesn't seem to show in your post.
You mentioned Lit due in 37, but what was researchd before that?
No tech shown on turn 17.

I know chariots have a 2 attack, I was b****ing about getting the long end of the stick with no lube............ ouch. Warriors fortified in a forrest have roughly even chances against chariots, I didn't get close to even results. God bless the RNG! I honestly wanted to end the war at around turn 13 but everyone wanted to go to war so I tried to stick with it & make the most of it. I REALLY, REALLY wanted Pi-Ramsise & maybe that clouded my judgement.:(

My bad for not saying what tech was reserched on 17. It was writing, as I'm sure you've realized by now. I was going for GL, while at war which was probibly :smoke:. Don't know, I made a judgement call, & I knew we needed to catch up on tech quick & that would be the quickest way.

Please, keep in mind that I'm a relitive rook(in relation to most of you guys VERY much a newbie) who plays mostly Manarch, I'm here to learn. If you guys spot a mistake by me(no matter how miniscule) please point it out to me, I won't take it personally & it's the only way I'll learn to step up to the next level.

Personally, I'd attack all 3 border towns (Pithom, Pi-Rameses & Abydos). In fact, I'd probably raze them (others might see that differently).

If our casualties are low then I'd march on Memphis (making sure I pillaged all the Dyes).

This might be enough for Egypt to cough up a couple of techs.

The fly in the ointment is the Elite War Chariot. But even if it attacked and killed a spearman/swordsman it only has 1 defense against a sword counter-attack.

Nobody's going to get pissed at you if the RNG has an off-day. As long as you attack in force (3 to 4 swords should be OK) and accept that there will be casualties you'll be fine :)

Ted

p.s. forgot to say: remember Pithom is on a hill

EM6_350BCtact.jpg

Gengis Khan,
Before starting the war, you can move some of the 4 swordsmen fortified in Atlanta to reinforce the stacks outside of Pithom and Abydos. Probably to be safe, there should be 5 swordsmen in the Abydos group before the outbreak of war, and the Pithom group can be brought up to 5 swordsmen as well. Both Pithom and Abydos may be razed, and all surviving swordsmen can push on to Pi-Ramesses. You should expect heavy counterattacks from the Egyptians, but if possible make sure to attack Pi-Ramesses with at least 6 healthy swordsmen all at once (the same turn) to make sure of taking the city regardless of the RNG.

Whether or not you are able to take Pi-Ramesses, we don't have the production to fight a long war with Egypt, so make peace as soon a possible. :)

Welcome back SaaM :)

Finished my turns...... Can barely keep eyes open......... Will post results tommarow....... Soooooooo tired.

Sorry for the holdup guys.

Here goes!!

PT Checked everything out. Lit due in 14, -1gpt, 41 gold. I think we're getting a pretty raw deal being expansionist and stuck on an island.:( I also notice Washington is set to produce a Swordman....... hmmm no iron in strat box, I make getting some my first priority!

IT Cleo shows her true colors, demands 40 gold & TM:rolleyes: Ha!! They declare war on us. Egypt’s greed & overconfidence will soon be punished!! *I’m not too happy about this one, I defiantly wanted to stack a few more swords before War was declared. This will make things more difficult. *
Swordman retreats Chariot
Washington produced Swordman switches to Spearman
Boston: Spear->Warrior
San Fran: Warrior->Warrior

Turn 1 (330) Form Iron colony above Chicago, sacrificing a captured Egyptian slave. Iron is worth all the Egyptian scum in the world to Abe. I then switch Wash & Bos to Swordmen.
Kill retreated Char with Sw(flawless)

IT Sword kills Egypt Sword, loses 1hp & promotes :D

Turn 2 (310) Iron Colony now defended by Vet Sp & Sw

IT Spear kills E Char, is redlined
Sw kills E Sw, -1hp
Philly: Worker->Sp
Turn 3 (290) Sw kills E Char leaving pit, -1hp
Sw kills E Sp- RAZING Pit!, the hero is barely alive afterwords and a statue is immediately erected in Washington to honor him.

IT The first wave of Egyptian troops move in, apparently Cleo wasn’t to happy about her cities burning;)
Forted Sw kills Sw, -2hp & promotes to Elite
Sw kills E Char, yellowed
Chicago’s culture rises making the colony obsolete, in my opinion the 3 extra swords were well worth the Egyptian dog we put into slave labor. Even if it was only 3 turns.
Seattle revolts………. Sorry guys
Turn 4 (270) Move Warrior produced in S.F. to Wash, then send the MP Sword there to reinforce attack on Abydos

IT Second wave moves into Abydoss, this one is serious. Abydoss might not be possible to take but I’ll try & beat them back anyways.
E Sw kills forted Sw, flawless
Sw kills E Sw, flawless. Haha paybacks a *****!!
Same Sw kills another E Sw, loses 1hp & promotes
Wash: Sw->Sw
Atl: Barracks->Sw
Order restored in Seattle

Turn 5 (250) I immediately whip a temple in Seattle, maybe :smoke:? I wait for reinforcements after their wave moved in, attacking now would be:suicide:.
Lit due in 7, -1 gpt & 41 in the bank.
IT E Archer kills Sw, flawless
Elite Sw kills E Sw
Warrior kills E War
Bos: Sw->Sw
Seattle: Temp->War
SF: War->Sp

Turn 6 (230) Sw kills E War trying to sneak past the front line. Spots many more Egyptians moving in, will their neverending reinforcements ever stop?? Oh well, it was expected but not hoped for.
Settler arrives at his pre-set location(??). Houston is founded, starts on worker.

IT E War kills Sw
Sw kills E Sw, -1hp
E Sw kills Sw, he’s redlined
E Sw kills Sw, flawless
This was the turn I knew was coming eventually. Well the rng can’t bless me forever. I knew the 3 vs 2 would catch up to me. At least only roughly half the troops they move in each turn are Swords

Turn 7 (210) Forced to bump entertainment up to 20%, -5 gpt(plan on leaving for 2-4 turns).
Sw kills E Sw, flawless
Sw kill E War, red
Sw kills E War, -1hp
*At this point we have 5 War, 6 Sp, & 10 Sw. Our military is still weak to them(of course), and there’s 8 enemy troops outside Abydoss compared to our 6. But the good news is Cleo starting to regret this war: She’ll pay WM+34g or 39g for peace. Declined!

IT E Sw kills Sp, -1hp
E archer kills redlined Sw, -2hp
Sw kills E Sw, flawless
Same Sw kills E Sw, -1hp & promotes to elite
And again… same Sw kills E Sw, flawless. Damn lets give this guy a meddle!! :die:
Miami grows to 2 pop

Turn 8 (190) Rush temp in Miami.
*Now its 4 of them(outside Abydoss) to 5 of ours. Dial up Mrs Cleo: She’s willing to caugh up WM+73g, but still no tech. Time to attack!! To bad 1/2 of our troops are seriously wounded.
Sw kills E Sp, yellowed
Sw kills E Archer, yellowed & promotes

IT E Arch kills Sw
Wash: Sw->Sw
NY: Granery->Settler
Miami: Temp->Worker

Turn 9 (170) Sw kills E Sw, -1

IT Sw kills E Sw, redlined & promotes to elite
E War kills War, redlined
Sw kills E Sw, yellow
E Sw kills newly elite Sw(I knew it was coming), -1hp
Sw kills E Sw, yellow

Turn 10 (150) Warrior from NY kills approaching E War threatening workers. Unfortunately I don’t have enough healthy troops to attack at all:(

* Notes *
Warrior next to NY needs to be pulled back because NY is nearly undefended: 1 War:rolleyes:
Lit in 1, -1gpt, 25 bank. 3.5.2
Only 1 Sp defending our only source of Iron. So far they havn’t made a move at it.
On Mtns between Pi-Ram & Avaris there are two forted Swords. All that was left from the Pit attack.
Cleo: WM+130g(all of it) or WM+8g+Warrior Code. FINALLY!! A tech, and the most useless one at that.
I left moves with almost everyone to give the next person flexibility with what to do next.

Now the tough part: We’ve almost no troops left to attack them with, but they’re starting to cave. End the War or continue?? Personally I think it would be best to keep beating them back as far as we possibly can, even if it means all our cities suffer for it.

ps. What's the record for worlds longest post?? We might have to call Guiness:king:

NOOOOOOOO!! That looked so much better before it was posted, all organized & everything!!

Oh well, good luck Zwingli!

Gengis Khan,

Looks like you had fun, but..............

Where's the save?

Ted

:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: I knew I forgot something:rolleyes:

Wow! I really need to get more sleep, here ya go. Good thing I checked back before going to bed.

Enjoy!!

(0) Progress so far: 1 Egyptian city razed and several troops destroyed. Plan: Try to raze Abydos, then take the best available deal as we are a bit short on troops. I see a grey border under the fog which might yield an extra trading opportunity, so I start a galley.

(1) Literature learned, turn off science hoping to leverage cash into a good trade deal with the unknown civ. 2 Egyptian units approach Atlanta.

(2) Whip the galley in Philadelphia to speed up contact with the grey civ. We attack and destroy Avaris and its 2 spearman defenders at no cost. We destroy an Egyptian swordsman at no cost.

IBT- We lose the redlined sword which destroyed Avaris in counterattack.

(3) Kill an Egyptian warrior and move a stack of 5 swordsmen up to Abydos (hopefully it will be enough).

IBT- Egypt destroys 4 of our swordsmen at a cost of 1 archer in counterattack, and they have at least 4 swordsmen ready to attack our forces next turn. I should have waited a few turns to advance on Avaris with a greater force, but now it is time to get a peace deal.

(4) Egypt has contacted the grey civ (Zululand) :(. We kill 2 Egyptian spearmen, then sue for peace. They are willing to give either contact with Zulu or a tech for peace, so I give them Peace + Literature + 68g + WM for Contact with Zulu + Philosophy.

Trade Literature + WM + 4gpt to Zululand for Code of Laws + WM + 1g.
We start minimum science on the Republic (due in 40 turns)

(5) Military builds are switched to workers and graneries. As our troops return to cities, the police effect allows lux tax to be lowered.

(6) Not much.

(7) Buy Masonry from the Zulu for WM + 3gpt + 28g.
Buy Math from Egypt for 8gpt + 30g.

(8) Buffalo is founded in place of a razed Egyptian city.

(9) Egypt completes the Colossus and starts Hanging Gardens (they are becoming a monster).

90 AD (10) Washington riots at size 7 :cringe: taxman hired until next turn. Trade around maps for a total of 1g. I will go an extra turn to even out the year.

110 AD (11) Whoops, I guess it didn't even out the year. Sell maps around for 1g.
em6_110ADtact.jpg

Make sure to use the galley to explore the unknown landmass to the south. If we are lucky there might be an unknown civ down there, and selling the contact could bring us up to date on tech. Even if there isn't a civ to the south, exploring the landmass will increase the value of our WorldMap.
The Save (SaaM is up)

Zwingli, what the *bleep* happened on your turn? GKhan ended 150BC, your turn 10 should have been at 50Ad by my reckoning.
