I am playing the Road to Independence on hard difficulty for a challenge and found that it was far more challenging on 1 condition.
I cannot recruit new regiments, no matter how many regions I take from the British, I have all 8 original colonies, from Maine to Georgia, all taken with my starting army and now I cannot complete my required 15 lands to achieve victory because I cannot build a new army for some reason. My original army is now whittled down to 2 minutemen regiments, 1 dragoon, 1 Provincial Cavalry and 2 artillery batteries. Each of these regiments are extremely experienced and can whip any army in North America with ease as long as they are not numerically overwhelming.
I honestly have no idea how I even survived this long with only 1 army. A poor one at that, and 2 powerful British armies. In 10 years those two British armies were crushed at great cost to me and left the road south open.
Is there any reason why I cannot recruit any units? (I have the most advanced barracks available. My military tech tree is on even footing with most European nations. My only guess is that I do not have the people to fill up the armies.
(I will check my population and get back to you.) Also the year is 1808, I have until 1825 to get 7 more provinces before the deadline. So any advice is greatly appreciated.
Also, my treasury is at 18,000 I have a military alliance with France and Spain, managed to avoid war with the Cherokee by paying them 60,000 plus alot of agriculture techs. Thankfully, the British in Canada have left my northern regions alone, and France has done me an enormous favor by destroying the British fleet in North America and keeping my trade lanes open.
Here is a pic. My population is approaching 1 million.
