The Union of Co-operative Republics (Dutch: Unie van Coöperatieve Republieken; French: Union des républiques coopératives) is a federation of socialist republics, although political and economical power is highly centralized at the federal level. As of 2135 (prior to the Conference of Bombay), five co-operative republics make up the union: Barbados, Guiana-Cayenne, Guyana, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

A democratic system is officially in place but the UCR is essentially a one-party state as all political parties are banned except for the People's Revolutionary Front, a coalition of communist parties from all co-operative republics. Citizens directly elect communist approved candidates, who are either PRF members or independents affiliated to the PRF, to the union's legislative assembly, the Co-operative Council, whose members appoint the President of the UCR. This appointment is mostly a ceremonial power however as the real presidential appointment takes place when the PRF internally elects the coalition's Chairman, who becomes the only viable candidate for President in the council vote. Heleen van der Hout, a local Communist Party leader from Suriname, was recently elected Chairwoman of the PRF and subsequently appointed President of the UCR.

The Union of Co-operative Republics finds the imperialist agenda set out by the Conference of Bombay troubling as we believe in peoples' right to self-determination. We will however attend in order to protect the interests of our people and those of our socialist brethren.

Alric Loom was the descendant of many other Sole Survivors from New York. But he never feared the Reaper; indeed, if the Masters wanted to claim him, they would be welcome to. He was a veteran of the psychic wars, and he wasn't going to let go easily, as he was chosen to be redeemed into the Blue Oyster Cult.

A fire of unknown origin always burnt within the hearts of men; and those selected people have formed the Blue Oyster Cult, which had spread over the world. It was Loom's goal and mission to recover them, so that they could take revenge against the Masters, and end their career of Evil.

The stars will guide them, and Astronomy is the key to it all.

The Coalition will attend the Bombay convention, and expects its sovereignty over the Russias to be respected.
 
Greece will attend the convention in order to uphold Greek interests.
 
The Republic of China will attend.

(Although OOCly I can imagine nations refusing to attend at all, or people not respecting the results of the Conference. I'm not really sure how to roleplay a world in which these Conferences are accepted so unconditionally)
 
OOC: Yeah, I was a bit miffed that I wasn't asked first before my capital was made the site of the conference, but I decided it wasn't too important, and I can see IC reasons why the People's State of India might go along with this - this way they can get their claims to India recognized and it isn't likely other nations will dispute these claims.
 
OOC: Pretty sure the conference is pretty much entirely mechanical. Just a bit more fluffy than having us immediately claim 50~ provinces or wade through a dozen turns of slowly expanding.

I figured that even the self-determination crowd would see attending the conference as vital to their interests.
