Enemy Ace Asks: Why do you need religion...?

Actually, it is not well put at all.

Only a desperate religionist would rely on such a tommyrot analogy.

Gravity and and oxygen are tried and tested concepts that we deal with
every day. God is an unproven idea that does not (for all intentst) exist.

Using a lame understanding of science is no cover for your total lack of divine authentication!

Keep trying, guys!

.

It wasn't supposed to prove God's existence (you're mixing up your own threads ;) ). He was saying that a sustainer-god, the one believed in by Christians, is deserving of worship simply because he keeps the universe in place. That's why he has religion.

Don't be so quick on the "smite" button, man.

'Sustainer-god'?

Do you mean a god-concept that enables him to face day-to-day reality?

You holy chaps have the monopoly on that button, Pug!

1)
What is it in your life or situation that draws you to religion?
I was first drawn to religion by my parents who brought me up as a Christian. I'm still a Christian now for a variety of reasons. I think the Christian explanation of who Jesus was is the best around. The world seems too intelligently designed for there to not be an intelligent designer (I'm not a creationist or IDist though). I've also had personal experiences of God though I realise I was probably hallucinating.

2)
Explain why are you reliant on the idea of a god or deity?
I'm not at all. I could quite easily be an atheist except I believe in God so I can't be. Now I believe in God I realise I'm reliant on him though.

3)
How far are you willing to go to defend that belief?
How would I defend my own belief? Surely the only person who could change it is me? If what I believe is true it is vitally important to everyone though.
