Map mostly. Freedom is fine with Mass media and landmark.
If I may be so bold, I would guess it is a lot to do with the player! You could give me any map you like and I'd never get near that.

I tried a futurism strat in a multiplayer game today. I feel like I'm missing something. I timed all 3 great people to come out right as I got Futurism. I had a garden in 2 of 3 and World Congress bonus. And a national epic. I got 3 of each Great Person after many turns. My opponent who had captured a few cities went to 15% influential. It bought me some time because getting that much sent him into -20 unhappiness, which he recouped by setting the world ideology to Freedom.Ideology is a tricky subject for CV. Assuming no futurism shenanigans, either you go for the best tree (Freedom) or you go for the tree most likely picked by the AI (Order).
Thanks for sharing, I am comtemplating between EDG5 and TSG 175 for my first CV. Both maps look really interesting. I will try to have a go on one of them when I have time over the weekends. Though for EDG5 I will most likely go Order.Map mostly. Freedom is fine with Mass media and landmark.

Ive tried futurism one other time. Both times I felt it is nowhere close to getting a victory. But I had forgotten you can purchase a ton of these if you have a great religion and pick Glory to God by going at least 4/6 piety. Maybe makes futurism kick more.
I've had bad luck using culture in general. Against AI I usually win Diplomatic before anything else.
Just a lurker, but I am diggin' the, what, clandestine? (maybe oblique is better?) references in this thread.

Thanks for these. I am trying this one for Dom, Liberty/Honor hybrid. Passed on OWN for Earth Mother. Waiting on UU to get started. It is time for EDG9. This is an unmodded Standard sized Pangaea map with Mongolia.

I missed founding, but I have tons of faith. I did a Liberty/Honor hybrid. Two caps pretty quick after the UU came online, but now my veteran Keshiks are dying to Rifles as I DOW'd the stronger of the two AI left in the game (each of which has killed one of their neighbors. T306, I am first to Ideologies, Autocracy of course. There were several good options for a nice religion.
Game took me another 200 turns, but none of the AI had SS parts much influence, so the game felt pretty smooth. I need to try more slower-pace games!T306, I am first to Ideologies, Autocracy of course.
I really did enjoy my EDG10 experience (edgE).Game took me another 200 turns, but none of the AI had SS parts much influence, so the game felt pretty smooth. I need to try more slower-pace games!
I am trying EDGE 11 next.
Another great map, thank you. Not a push-over, but quite nice. I build Monument first to get the Sri Pada tile asap. I filled out Liberty after Tradition, which was pretty unusual for me too.Now I present to you EDG11. We are back to a standard sized map, this time a Continents map, and standard speed. But the fun part is that the starting locations are distributed on three land masses and also otherwise I really liked the looks of this map. The civ to play is Carthage.
Thanks for that! And two more things: 1. The AIs were handpicked (roughly) either on the basis of historical or geographical connection.
Please give me the history lesson. Was that one ofUnfortunately Tyre is not one of the CS. It would have been fun to steal a worker from them as Carthage.

It took me forever to clear the continent, but no hate from that, even though that was after WC. Turtled to a Freedom SV on T335, I only bought one part, and even that saved me zero turns. One civ had 5 parts, so it was pretty close.
Thanks for that!
Please give me the history lesson. Was that one of Theodora’s husbands?
