EOC2 - Ruling the Waves

Sorry I've been a been quiet, but my new comp when down and my friend has only just been able to sort it :(

Anyway good SG debutant turns from Butz and then Bede as thorough as ever :)

And I echo Kabuki - as long as it gets done within the 72 and you had a good time then no problems :D

EDIT: never mind. :)

Here it is guys, and of course I had fun or I would have come home.

@Bede – love the advisors, I dug them up in the C&C forum and dl’ed them myself.

Pre turn – We have wines and iron, but no horses. Take worker out of fields in Edrine in effort to build granary before growth. May have to MM Bursa for same effect when mine done. Drop sci to 50 for extra gold piece. That’s about it ….

1325 bc – (1) – drop sci to 30 for extra 5 gold. Move warriors into position for some barb bashing. Sailing.

1300 bc – (2) – choose philo next (10turns). Get 25 gold from harrapan encampment. MM Istanbul, settler and growth in 2. See orange borders with western curragh.

IBT – we put a new entrance on the royal cave.

1275 bc – (3) – We meet English. They have 35g and some gems they can’t trade. 35 seems a bit light for HBR, so I’ll make em wait a bit.

IBT – Istanbul settler -> settler

1250 bc – (4) – I can see a coast across from Hastings, but at four tiles, I’m not bold enough to try it.

IBT – Iznik curragh -> worker

1225 bc – (5) – MM Edrine, granary in 1, pop in 2.

IBT – Edrine granary -> worker.

1200 bc – (6) – See a lonely Dutch warrior 20 or so tiles up the coast from Utrecht. I expect to see another civ up this way soon …..

1175 bc – (7) – What are these barbs set to? I find two more encampments this turn. Vikes now have Map and 50g, English still 35g. Philo in 7.

IBT – Edrine worker -> temple. I want that iron.

1150 bc – (8) – Izmit founded, starts granary. Get 25g from Parthian camp, reg warr promotes.

IBT – Iznik worker -> granary.

1125 bc – (9) – see more red borders with western (now actually furthur east) curragh.

1100 bc – (10) – meet Byzantines. Trade writing + HBR for math + 35g.

IBT – Istanbul settler -> spear

1075 bc – (11) – nothing noteworthy.

IBT – Bursa granary -> spear.

1050 bc – (12) – THE DAMN VIKINGS HAVE PHILOSOPHY NOW!!!! Obviously a gamble that didn’t pay off. Not quite sure how they discovered it so quick tho. The most painful thing is that the English just got poly a couple turns ago. Trade English writing and HBR for Poly and 35g. Trade dutch math for map and 75 g. Trade Ragnar math for Philo and 50g. That leaves spain with 10g, everyone else broke, and we’re tech leader. Start research on lit.

1025 bc – (13) – more of the aforementioned nothing.

1000 bc – (14) - Our vet warrior gets redlined attacking a barb, now he has to heal before dispersing the camp.

975 bc – (15) – Aydin founded, start granary.

Not too much to report here. Our curragh is about two turns away from landfall to the NW. We probably want a couple more spears for defense, until the rest of the island is settled. We may want to consider sending a settler or two to claim the incense north of Dutch. Still pretty mad about my little Philosophy gambit.

Anyway, here’s the save:
Ragnar shall feel my wrath!!

And a screenie. On the minimap, western circle is England, Midddle in Incense, and Eastern is Byzantines.

We are becoming the mercantile Ottomans, for sure.

What is surprising me is that with all the seafarers out there we haven't run into any other boats.

Sail on!

Jeeezzzz... this sounds like a darn hectic time :( And not a situation we can get around with skips or swaps :(

Anyway I'm very sorry to lose you, and if your situation changes for some reason your more than welcome to drop back in. Best of luck with the move and exams.

Meanwhile if any lurkers are interested we're now looking for a new 5th player

I'll play it tomorrow.

awwww.... :( that sucks. Well I hope that I get to see you in another SG :wavey:

Take a look around at the situation and everything is looking pretty pleasing. The Vikings are certainly seem to be our closest rivals, not just geographically, but tech as well, only lacking Poly on us. (A check at embassy prices reveals that London must be a bit closer.)
I establish Embassies with those two Civs. London is size 4 and has 13 turns to go on the Colossus, making 7spt. The English are on 100% Science and have Gems.
Trondheim is size five with a clown, and has 57 turns to go on the Pyramid at only 5spt. They're also on 100% Science.

With that I press space.

(I) Bursa completes spear, starts another. Worker finishes forest chop allowing us to bring much needed irrigation to Anydin.

950 BC (1) One of our Curragh spots the edge of another land mass only two squares off our NW coast

(I) Istanbul finishes a spear, starts another. Uskadar completes it's Granary starts a settler for the Southern edge of our island which is very close to the Dutch.

925 BC (2) Any excitement about that land mass to north is quashed. (Bet it'll have a strategic resource on it now I've said that!) It's just a two tile plains island, although we may well fill it someday.

(I) The Dutch Complete the Colosuss in Amsterdam and start the Great Lighthouse in the same city. All four over Civs we know were building the former too so there is going to be a fair old Cascade

900 BC (3)

(I) The Spanish go to the Pyramids which the Vikings switch Copenhagen to. Trondheim is now working on the Oracle, as are the Byz. The English have switched to the ToA

875 BC (4)

(I) Bursa completes a spear, starts a Settler for the spot where the Barb camp currently is.

850 BC (5) The same barb camp which are Warrior successfully disperses. Our Curragh over by the Dutch moves a space only to be confronted by a barb Galley. With no where to explore if we turn back we fortify.

(I) The Barbs sink our Curragh without a hit :( Istanbul finishes a spear, starts another.

825 BC (6)

800 BC (7)

(I) Edrine's border expands connecting our iron. Uskadar finishes its settler, starts a Barracks

775 BC (8)

750 BC (9)

(I) The Dutch call with Code of Laws available. He wants Philo + 195 or Myst + 278 or both techs and he'll part with 54 of his own gold. I'll hold off for now.
Istanbul finishes its spearmen and starts another. The Spanish, who are lagging behind in the Histograph, start the Oracle in Seville.

730 BC (10) I find Antalya a tile NW of Kabuki's dot on our Southern Coast which was on a bonus grassland. I'd prefer the immediate bonus grassland rather than a whale on expansion.

I'm a bit tired so I'll leave it there, but it's up to 15 turns per player currently unless people feel that's too much.

Bursa completes its settler next turn which I would head for Kubiki's dot on the Plains Forest two tiles SE of the Wines hill.
The Dutch are still the only ones with Code of Law, while we are two turns away from Lit @ 80% (-1 gpt)

And the save

NB: I've always understood that it's best to zip saves rather than loading them purely as .SAVs to avoid any potential corruption. Please correct me if I'm wrong or behind the times but otherwise I'd be grateful if people could stick to that :)

Roster:

Butz <--- Skipped
Bede <---- Up

Butz has had plenty of time so I'm afraid he's skipped for this round. A reminder that it's 24 for "got it", 48 to play, but I'll happily grant some leeway if people post to let us know what's going on.

And again, we still have an open slot avaliable for any lurkers who would like to join in.

If you could get proceedings moving again please Bede.
:)

Will pick up tonight, play tomorrow if that's okay EoC.

If SesnofWthr want to swap that's might be more expedient.

...err sorry for not updating, my computer at home was having some internet problems:mad: and wasn't able to post. I'm still having some problems but its not as bad as it was before.

So where do we stand now? Is Butz gonna play or should I pick it up? I will be able to play tonight, FWIW.

SesnOfWthr,
Take it away. I'll pick up tomrrow first thing and have it back tomorrow evening

OK, got it.

Will play/post this evening.
