That will deal with the unhappiness problem right now! Iznik swapped to a marketplace from FP. The doubling of OCN won't help us on this little isle and we can use the gold. Change one taxman to a a scientist and put everybody back to work in the fields to avert starvation.
Our navy consists of three galleys and two curraghs. We have twenty-eight swords and spears and thirteen workers. There are no spears with the force in Scandanivia and the swords are a few turns away from hitting a Viking ville. The supporting galleys are nowhere they can be useful in the evacuation of wounded troops. Fortunately Ragnar is still in the AA and hasn't learned the enabling tech for his fearsome Berserker.
Spend a little time in the diplomatic reception rooms and discover that we control who knows whom, change the research path to Theology in hopes that we can get to Printing Press in time to trade our contact information.

Looks like Willie is one tech short of the MA. The rest of the gang is at least one, and more often two or three short. The Vikings have the Library in Trondheim and know both us and the Dutch, so are very close to the MA.
Bunch of workers produced and all towns on coast start galleys or harbors. the anarchy ends and we are now a Monarchy. The impact on our economy is negligible as we lacked the infrastructure and terrain improvements to really take advantage of it.

Our conversion rate of gold to science is only 85%. Leave science at 10% on Theology and turn down lux to 0 as the population drop solved the contentment problem for a while.
This island has a terrible lack of shield production, very few bonus grasslands and the mountain and hill areas are not acessible to the irrigatible areas for the most part. As a result the switch to Monarchy did nothing for us. Population growth is limited by the lack of rivers or other fresh water sources without acqueducts and we have only one town capable of growing past 6 without acqueducts.
Change Uskudar to a settler for landing on the Scandnavian coast.

Swords march through mountains towards little Scanda ville with the elephants. High ground is blocked by Scandanavian spear and settler pair, the stupid Vikings move off the high ground.

Ignore the Viking spear settler pair and seize the mountain above Birka. Spend 72g on settler out of Uskudar as galley is in place to pick him up.
England is wearing a gorgeous gorget of pearls and a new frock. She is in the MA but has no techs.

Single spear in garrison kills attacking sword, spear wounded but promotes. Second sword dies dealing hurt to single spear. Third sword finishes off spear, takes the city, keep it for now as it helps with unit support. Remainder of force remains on high ground moving toward Stavanger.

It takes three swords to dispatch Viking horseman at Stavanger. Two swords move into garrison at Denizli. One sword moves into forest ourside Birka.
Science rate now exceeds 1:1. What's hurting now is unit support at 18g per turn.
Alliance and RoP with Isabella have 19 turns to go. Don't do anything to break them.
Alliance against Ragnar runs out in 16 (460AD)
Next objective is Birka, then south to village I can't identify, then I would just go ahead and take out Trondheim. Might want some catapaults for that. As near as I can tell Ragnar doesn't know anybody other than us to help him to Invention. I would not research that tech, though, just in case. Once the Vikings have those Berserkers the island becomes a whole lot less secure.
