European Diplomacy Three- True World War

In the last game izipo liked to hear what we were planning and what are aims were, if we send our aims in our orders and our orders are stolen by someone else, will you tell them our aims that were in our PM to you?

If they will I think I'll keep my plans to myself lol.

EDIT: Also, is there still the domination style victory? The same as in Izipo's?

I don't mean to gripe here, but it seems like Europe doesn't have a whole lot of territory to expand to compared to the rest of the world. I'd hate to be at a disadvantage because I can't expand as far as everyone else.
 
Europe has a great expansion opportunity if you do the right thing on your firt turn.

Balancing expansion opportunities was one of the most difficult things for this map. I had originally planned to include India and Ghana as nations (I may yet do so), but I was afraid of the limitations on Europe, Australia, and South African expansions. As it is, Europe has decent expansion into Eastern Europe, and may also expand into North Africa. If I deem that a country has a much weaker expansion, that country will receive a proportionately stronger special ability.

Yeah same here.

Are we waiting for Izipo's to finish before this one starts? TBH it is pretty much finished anyway, I doubt me and Italy will last too much longer lol.

EDIT: Also, I was thinking, an interesting variant to DE would be 'Ancient diplomacy' centered around the med' sea, Nations would be Rome, Greece, Egypt, Carthage, Gauls, Germanian barb tribe, etc. Also, if someone could design a map there could be a diplomacy FFH lol. You could use city names for the regions. Obviously for either of these ideas the rules would need to be reworked quite a bit but still, would be cool.
 
Chances are, I'm going to add a West African nation and an Asian nation before starting, because I want to give Izipo a spot. Might also tweak some starting area to encourage more even expansion.

As for specials, I still need to figure them out :crazyeye: . I'll send out the ability PMs as soon as I figure it all.

Glad to see the players are as excited about the game as I am! :)
 
Just curious, but why does W Au already have a naval base according to the map?

This is looking good, excellent map. I'll have a closer look at the rules, but I'm glad the franchise is living a life of its own :goodjob:

I spot a small problem : Paratroopers built in Florida, can airdrop in France... :eek: You might wan to add a limitation or something...

Seriously though, I'll confirm that reserve spot you've saved for me (thanks!) and hope for a similar unfolding of events as for Izipo's game. ;)

Also, Im, not quite sure if I like the espionage thing. I really get it and I dont know i people are going to be able to afford it as well as an army bigger then next door's. How much woyuld it actually help anyway.
 
Izipo, I've put you in as Mali. Niklas, if Frozen In Ice doesn't come for India, it's yours. If he does, you've got first reserve.

As for paratroopers- I could've sworn I put something in there... Mumblemumble edit rules. For the purposes of paratrooping, water areas act as two movement. So at best, you can paradrop across one body of water, coast->coast.

@Kol.7: I think Espionage will be quite useful when combined with good strategy. If you stop all infantry going into a key territory you're attacking, you can save much more cash in saved troops than you spend.

As it is, espionage is way more expensive than it's worth. However, 5-10 turns in, the much increased budgets could easily make Espionage worth it. I might change the espionage costs, perhaps make it based on average income? If you have suggestions, I'm willing to hear them.
 
I'm making a note right now that I've never played Diplomacy before (I don't count Switzerland, seriously guys :p) so I expect the almighty mod to help me with orders. I'll turn them in early and expect some critique or something. >:|
 
LightFang, you've played Diplomacy many times before, and even hosted a game of your own. Then again, this game isn't Diplomacy, even if it's based on it and called the same thing. :p

Regarding espionage, I think costs should be fixed. Either that or based on the economic value of the nation being spied on, not your own income.
 
I can see a version of this game based on Orson scott card's Shadow series (the bean quartet)

I can make a pretty big world map, if you are looking to fill more people in, because I see a bunch that wants to play :p
