European Diplomacy Three- True World War

Allright, just incase any of you guys wants a huge map for their game, heres a link.

GL to all the players! :D

thomas, I'd join if you got one going based on the bean series.

Okay, DE II has finished... Time to wrap up the fine points and start this one.

Alright, Niklas is playing as China, Frozen In Ice is first reserve. Leeksoup is currently second, but if he doesn't confirm before I start the game, Stuck In Pi gets second.

Now I'll run off and sort out the special abilities before y'all slaughter me. :hide:

You should just use mine so I know what they all are. >:D

Also: there should be some sort of espionage thing where you can divine other people's special abilities. Although that should cost a lot.

Tasslehoff: the map's down

edit: if there's espionage, maybe one fo the things in it should be counterespionage?

Leeksoup dives through the door, narrowly dodging an explosion

NOOOOO!

I wish I had known about this before it was too late to sign up! Ah well. I'm a reserve!

Sorry if this is in the rules, I might have missed it. How many units/turn does it take to capture a region? In Dip2 I think it was 2 infantry or a tank and it took 2 turns, I dont know, I just sent everything I had at it when I wanted some more land - and thats what led to my eventual crushing by Niklas so it would be helpful, thanks.

The number you are looking for is three...

Alright. Map has been updated for the very last time. As I write this, PMs are being sent, and we're ready to start. As soon as I send all the PMs, I'll write the first update.

And yes, it takes a strength factor of three (three infantry, one tank, three paras) to capture a neutral territory. It takes a single turn, unless you're capturing from an opponent, in which case it turns neutral after the first turn, and is yours the second.

World on Edge of Change, Say Analysts

According to analysts, the status of our world seems on the very edge of change, say historian analysts. Since the events of World War II in the 1930s and 40s, the once-superpowers in Europe and America have been weakened or destroyed.
"We now have several large nations, across the world, each with the potential to become the next superpower," an unnamed analyst reported.
With these nations, all roughly equal in military, it seems likely that a large-scale war will develop.
"The largest war of our times- World War II- occurred when several large nations of roughly equal strength vied for power, mostly in Europe. We now have a similar scenario, but with nations across the entire world. Barring a large, unforeseeable change, it is quite possible that a huge war will soon envelop the entire world, possible more bloody than any other." The analyst concluded.
Will this pessimistic prophecy come to pass? Will peace last, or will the entire world be plunged into war?

From El Presidente

To the respected leaders of Quebec and Chile:

In all of our new found world power status I believe that the three American powers should in an effort to keep the peace and to set an example to the world try to attempt to work together. My advisers would like a alliance but I don't think anyone is ready to trust each other but I believe we should at least coordinate expansion in order to prevent any debate over land. Please respond back with your response. I thank you for your time.

Sure.

I get Union, Midwest, and Florida. I also lay down claims to all of former Canada and Alaska, so if anyone plans on taking them, don't, eh?

PROCLAMATION!!!11one

The President of South Africa awoke, as if from a slumber. He had quietly run most of his years in office without incident. Now, though, the times were changing. He threw the newspaper down on his mahogany desk where it landed with a less than satisfactorily whap and grinned. His pearly white teeth glistened in the bright fluorescent light.

"I have an idea," he said, grinning. "Get me some parchment!"

"What if you make a mistake, Mr. President?"

"Good point, my dear secretary. In that case, get me a computer!"

"It's on your desk."

"Oh," he said, without batting an eyelash, and furiously typed.

To: Mali
From: South Africa

I have prepared a treaty of sorts. As fellow African people, we should stick together in these coming turbulent times. Let the world know that Africans take care of Africans.

The Treaty of Friendship

We, the nations of Mali and South Africa (hereinafter referred to as the undersigned) agree to the following:

1. No nation of the undersigned will declare war on another nation of the undersigned. Any attempt to unlawfully seize territory from another part of the undersigned will result in a state of war and is thus prohibited as part of this treaty.

2. Any attempt by any other nation to unlawfully seize territory or seaports belonging to a nation of the undersigned will automatically cause a state of war to exist between themselves and all of the undersigned.

3. In a spirit of friendship (from which the treaty gets its title), the two African nations will agree to work together to settle territorial disputes and shape the world to its liking.

Signed,
President "LightFang" of South Africa

Now, if you would care to sign this, we can happily be on our way to greatness in the future together.

The camera pans across a luxurious and lush landscape. The ocean can be seen in the distance when coming atop a hill the camera heads towards a magnificent white marble palace. Entering by a French window, we find ourselves staring at the impressive desk of the Malinese leader.
On his desk a sleek black computer is beeping 'you have received mail'.
Grabbing the rodent, the DERL of Mali stares at the screen for a few seconds...

Before hitting the send button, he makes sure to add a few lines.

Dear president,
We, the Diplomatically Elected Ruler for Life Izipo of Mali, welcome such friendly acts with joy. Let us state that the only true goal of Mali is the colonization of other planets. To do so, we will use our financial genius to our advantage. If you're ever in need of Gold, please do not hesitate to ask about our competitive rates of interest.
On a side note, we hope you will understand that the territories bordering Mali (namely Congo, CAR and Chad) are of utmost strategic importance to us.
Hoping we will reach a peaceful agreement;
Yours truly,
DERL Izipo.
