European NES (My final attempt)

if they've been updated then why is mine the exaclty the same, as in still just a good econ and no mention of my wonder?

MY BAD!

I did the whole thing in a wordpad document but forgot to edit the actual post!

Finally...

Now that Erik had almost took all of norway the going was no longer tough...Or was it?

Erik set about making his land the once powerful country of Norway...He at first went about destroying the last faction...He sent a surrender note to the noble owning the land...Then if they didn't comply he swept threw with his whole army and then drafted and had an even stronger army.

Cerdick had asked Erik's help but could he father the english like his uncle had?The great Ragnar Savag had taught all against him a lesson in the arts of war...And Erik had learnt from his teachings as a boy...He was destined to become something of stature.

ORDERS

is northumberland really this weak?

well it would get much better if it actually had a ruler. Right now it's in a state of anarchy, which explains most of the statistics

hmm, so if i took northumberland, can you tell me how much the stats would improve?

Ok, hate to distract from the thread but would any of you be interested in joining the following?

UWNES

Mokambe, like most African nations, is a tiny agriculturally based wartorn hell on earth nation with a giant city that is in the middle of it all with various factions fighting for the control.

For various unknown reasons, Mokambe City has just spiraled downwards into another inner-city civil war with various factions fighting for control. The objective is clear. The first faction to control the majority of the city will probably gain the support of the U.N., who wearily looks to a quick end to the conflict.

U.N. Peacekeepers have arrived at the scene recently, mostly in the Eastern fringes of Mokambe City, occupying the Port facility and Mokambe City Power Plant. They have established a few refugee centres to which they hope to round up the cities 1.4 million inhabitants and cart them off to various 1st world countries willing to accept them.

As the world gathers it's popcorn and watches, Mokambe City looks to become a bloody mess that will hopefully be resolved in the usual few weeks.

--------------------

Faction: -faction name here-
Despot: -your name here-
Mokos: 100,000
Starting Location: - your starting location here (somewhere east of 9 row-
Forces: 10 gunmen

--------------------

Welcome to beutiful Mokambe City. Your mission? Take control of as much of the city as you can. In this NES, the role of diplomacy will be a bit less than in others, with war having a far greater impact.

This is essentially a Beta of sorts, and rules can be changed eventually, but mostly in the sense of adding weapons and things along those lines.

Here are some gerneral things you should know before you play.

--------------------

Logistics

Obviously, the biggest inspiration for this is Plexus's prohibition NES, but this NES is different in a few significant ways. For one, you can't build buildings for yourself. You have to capture what Mokambe City already has. The buildings that are on the map however, serve many various purposes which you can put to your advantage. For example, if you gain control of the Power Plant, you could temporarily black out all of your rivals and then hastily attack them during sundown.

Your only two real options are to buy troops, and to move them around. The emphasis is on strategy.

--------------------

The Troops

Gunmen: Your basic infantry. They're just rag-tag civilians with ak-47's running around killing people. They're not perticularly effective, but you can make hordes of them. They cost 1000 Mokos (Mokambe currency), considering that you have to buy the AK-47's.

RPG: Rocket propelled grenade's. Self explanatory. They cost 2000 Mokos and are generally more effective than the Gunmen.

Bomber: Terrorists basically. Gather explosives, try and destroy buildings and enemy positions. They cost 10,000, and can go up if you want big bang for your buck. They have a chance of failing, but if they succeed, the results can be great.

Truck: You may be wondering, "WTH?!?", but the thing is, the truck will be pretty usefull in carrying things around. They move 5-squares a turn, but only on roads. 20,000 Mokos.

--------------------

Buildings

Headquarters: Only building you need. If it's taken over, your whole group is destroyed and handed over to whoever took you out.

Power Plant: There's only one for the whole city. It's run by the U.N. and some of their specially trained technicians. However... if the peacekeepers were to withdraw, then perhaps you could put it to your use.

Port: This is part of the map as opposed to an actual building, but I guess I should put it here. The port will serve many purposes throughout the game. Mainly, some shipments that could interest you may come in.

Reffugee Center: If refugees arise in your territories, they may offer you money to take them to the centers safely. You do so, you're rewarded. But it'll take some work.

--------------------

Questions?

Q: How do I get money?
A: Different opportunities will arise throughout the game. But the standard is, returning reffugees, drugs and such that may come into the country in various ways, and the obvious "money per block". Probably 5,000 per block, let's say.

Q: How will the U.N. act?
A: The U.N. will for the most part stay where they are, but in special situations they could intervene.

Q: Only 4 buildings?!?
A: Well as I said, this is sort of a test try for me. More will probably be added eventually.

King China had taken a nation from the depths of the deserts and made them one, a full empire with all the neccesities one needs. They could supply for the people. (the government) and the expansion was going at a great pace. The wonder was now on a roll as it was one third done. The only shaky thing about Tripoli is the economy. With the building of roads, the nation will increase commerce within itself and the building of fairs and festivals in Tripoli will bring in that extra added income that would help the economy out. Tripoli was a grand nation, and it would stay that way for the rest of time, through thick and thin, through loss and win, Tripoli would thrive forever.

GRAND TRIPOLI

-Increase the economy by building roads and fairs arcross the Empire.

-Expand greatly towards the South.

-Continue work on the Palace of Saints (2 of 6)

Estonia orders: (I don't remember if I've written orders yet, if I have then follow those and IGNORE these)

-Grow army
-Expand in Sweden with 500 men
-Expand towards Germany too with equal amount of men

Ok, update tonight :D

As for that NES, I don't know what I was thinking. I was half asleep. Screw originality. I'm just going to start a simple world map NES in a few days.

Ddi you get my PM aaminion? I would be happy to have you join. Go read the PM. Or just go to my NES, one page back, where your post about joining is on. And see my reply.

Europe, 600, A.D.

Welcome to the new century folks!!!

The change of all the numbers in the year is not an occurance of great importance to most Europeans, however. Besides the speech in the Vatcian, given by Pegalius, the new century seems very much like the old. Pegalius dies shortly afterward, replaced by a young pope by the name of Gregory. Gregory's first big accomlishment is stopping a small plague in Rome from becoming some sort of giant disaster.

In the land of the Visigoths, King Almarich II dies. He is replaced by his son, Almarich III, who looks to quietly continue his father's job of ruling all the Visigoths. His first act was to bring a stop to the unruly conduct of his own soldiers. The meeting took place in 594 A.D., and resulted in the loss of 50 men. However, new lands came more easily under Visigoth opression, the people no longer feraing the Almarich's quite as much.

In Germany, more roads appear. Apparently based on the old Roman roads, these "brick roads" cover a good deal of the kingdom, making the people fairly happy. Germany expands rapidly to the North and West, but to the East they meet a as of yet undiscovered Kingdom. Poland.

Poland is seemingly the latest of the Slavic kingdoms that are emerging. Throughout East Europe, the Slavic migrations appear to be coming to a halt, as the last of the tribes reach destinations that they're happy with. The Polish king, Boreslaw, asks for a permanent border. Heinrich's mood is raised slightly however, thanks to the birth of his son, Dietrich II.

In Finland, tales of Estonian expansion are greeted with Curiosity. King Matti builds up a navy of 100 ships and sets sail for "Swede-Land". They arrive by the end of the year, and establish a colony a bit North of the Estonian one.

War throughout Frankish lands. A few kilometers off the coast of Britian, 3 French boats were patrolling the waters when spotting a fleet of Nordic looking Vessels making course towards England. They bore no flag and held hundreds of fierce warriors. Before the French could do anything about this, the smaller quicker vessels outmanuevered them and escaped.

The French assault on London is all but over. The starved English finally fall victim to a french assault. Their weakened and malnourished soldiers couldn't put up a fight with the normal footmen, much less the superior Burgundian swordsmen. Cerdic is dragged out of his keep and executed. There is much celebration in London, on the part of the French soldiers. Guntmar leaves Northward to annex Northumberland, while Clotaire II stays behind to defend London. The English populace tries to stay quiet and out of sight.

However the good times don't last. By next morning, a whole armada of ships appear right outside London, from which hordes of warriors land. A quick battle ensues, where the French lose some 200 men, inflicting losses of 300 on their new, lesser-trained enemy. Who are these people? A few captured enemy soldiers refuse to tell too much, even under torture. All that Clotaire II finds out, is that they're from a land called Norway.

Meanwhile, to the North, Guntmar reaches Northumberland, only to find that a new authority has taken it over. A King Azale, has pulled the legendary sword from the stone, and is now widely acknowledged as the King of Northumberland. Guntmar manages to take much of his land before Azale learns anything of this though. Joyous victory? Nope. Guntmar dies within a few days, control of his army given to a trusted general. Clotaire II was supposed to take over the whole country, but a tragedy occured. In London, the Norwegians offered to talk peace. Upon arriving at the Norwegian's camp, Clotaire II is ruthlessly murdered by Norwegians disguised as diplomats. France is now rulerless.

Back in France, the terrible news reaches Queen Marie, the new de facto monarch. She remarkably manages to regain control over France. However, England, though still in French control, has absolutely no rulers whatsoever (although it holds most of the French army). Nobody is sure what will happen. To make things worse, a relatively large army of Norwegians lands in the old Roman province of Gaulia-Belgium, straight on course towards France. Marie must act quickly if her kindom is to survive.

France is not alone however. The Pope, immediatly calls on every single Catholic country in the world to join a crusade against Norway.

Meanwhile, in a distant and far more peacful land, the Russian people are fairly happy. The new tzar, Ivan IV is young but gaining prominence. A road is built, increasing the economy, and expansions are mounted. The Novgorod expansion is continued, and a powerful Boyar establishes an outpost called "Kazan". Things are looking up for the Russians. The money from the trade route with Finland is finally starting to come in.

In Andorra, even better! The economy is grown to good, but it achieves the highest level possible with the completion of St. Guillem's cathedral. Yes indeed, Andorra's economy is so good that it can't even be increased. The people grow very happy. The most important bit of news however, comes from the pope's letter to Guillem III.

In Tripoli, the economy is increased by building roads, a relatively new invention in the lands. The Tripoli people are very happy about this new development. Great expansion is mounted Southward, and the palace of Libyan saints is one third done. The Mediterranean kingdom has recently established a city right next to Tripoli.

In Estonia, King Juhan dies. He is replaced by Konstantin, who continues expansion in Sweden. The note from the Pope reaches him later that year, and he quickly sets to consulting his advisors on what to do.

The Mediterranean kingdom further expands in all directions, and establishes the town of Leptis Marna near Tripoli. Hungary expands further West, and Venice to the East.

War in the near-east! Persia and the Byzantines finally come to blows. After giant expansions by both parties, a border was established at which place the two empires met. A huge battle ensued in which both sides lost many many men. Tensions are at an all time high, as Persia quickly begins to rebuild it's millitary to destroy their pesky neighbors to the East.

Diplomacy:

From Boreslaw of Poland

Greetings oh Heinrich, from Boreslaw of the Polish people. I have recently come to rule the country between the rivers, unaware of you to the West. We ask that the Western river be our dividing border for the rest of our history!

From Pope Gregory I
To Andorra, Germany, Hungary, Estonia, Finland

I call a crusade!!! It was bad enough that the Pagans controlled a large empire in Scandanavia, but now they're on the verge of conquering France! I plead with you to send immediate assistance to your Frankish brothers!

From Robert of Hungary
To Pope Gregory I

Your holiness, know that if it is your will, Hungary will aid our Catholic brothers, the Franks, in any way possible.

From Robert of Hungary
To Marie of France

Hold back the pagans! We're coming to help you the best we can. I pledge 1000 Footmen to your cause.

From King Karl of the Mediterranean Kingdom
To Tripoli

We're going to build up our economy till we can establish a trade route with you. Au revoir.
