Europe, 640 A.D.
Many changes throughout the world. Most important of all is the end of the large crusading war that had plagued West Europe for several decades now. The Pope's offer rejected, most all of Europe agrees to France's stubborn proposals instead. England becomes part of Northumberland, and France retains Belgium. However, France never really owned Belgium that long, and the war weary populace there begins a revolt, establishing the republic of Wallonia.
Finnish troops withdraw from Norway, and on their way back gather much new land in Eastern Scandanavia. The Norwegians in France, meanwhile try to find their way back to their homeland. The French let them build transport vessels, and the Norwegians sail them towards their homeland under French escort. However, as soon as the Norwegians were too far away to swim to shore, the French warships attacked the transport vessels and sunk most of them. Much of Norway's forces are decimated, however a few managed to escape to Denmark. Back in Norway, the times are relatively good though. The population experiences a massive boom.
France is back on top again, the only smudge on it's record being no response from Andorra regarding their mediterranean possesions. The former lands of the Mediterranean kingdom are given back to them, and they even have the land surrounding the Vatican once the Byzantines leave.
Pope Gregory's efforts to make peace are finally explained, as he dies only months later. In the end he didn't want to be remembered as the Pope that scarred Catholocism for years.
In Germany, with the completion of their wonder, much of the Gothic lands are united under the German banner. Also carrying the German banner are German soldiers, which reached the Vatican thinking that the battle between the Byzantines and the Pope's forces wasn't over. Upon finding out that it indeed was, they overrun the tiny trading state of Venice and establish home there.
In Hungary, a new King takes the reins of the tiny nation and begins to develop it's economy. His troops discover that they're practically surrounded by Slavs.
Russia continues to grow. It is now probably the largest state in the world, with borders stretching far and wide. Contact with the Byzantines is almost completed, but the Byzantines have their own worries. The Muslims, under Abu Bakr have penetrated the Sinai and are on the verge of entering Egypt. Egypt, once one of the richest provinces in the old Roman Empire and among the most Christianized, was the target for the next wave of Byzantine expansions. With the Arabs blocking the way, the thoughts of the Byzantine people are mixed.
The Icelanders establish a large colony just North of Norway, and encounter the Norwegians to the South. The King's advisors strongly reccomend the building of more boats to ensure that the colony doesn't get cut off.

I haven't changed this in a while, so I've decided to be cheap and have every country gain some new rulers. They're not historically accurate for once, because I'm more worried about just putting up an update for one, so Feanor, don't give me another history lesson man

To France
We have had enough of foreign armies bickering over our lands. This time we are united and will repel any foreign troops on our land with weapons. We have no intention of expanding... just defending what we do have.

We might want to discuss further expansions on your part...
