Existing Buildings Discussion

They've gotta be kidding! Is it still one of the precisely two anti-disease buildings that exist? If so, that is 'sick' in more ways than one (and none of them good). :(

Remember that Healers/Medics/Apothecaries reduce disease in the city they are in. So you might want to invest in a few of those.

I think that's on purpose. You shouldn't be able to easily stay at full healthiness and low crime without effort - especially in the early game. It was possible in v28 and was now corrected.
Just really watch maintenance costs now. ;)

With Healers giving the same disease reduction for a fraction of the gold per turn, by the time you can afford a mausoleum, you might as well call it the Taj Mahal!

Is it deliberate that Metropolitan admin is enabled at Social Contract yet Capital Administration is at Representative Democracy? Seems odd that I can enable using the extra tile ring in all cities EXCEPT my capital!

I don't recall them being moved. So perhaps when Vokarya redid the tech tree it left them out of order.

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

I'd just put them on the same tech - probably move capital admin to where metro admin is I'd suggest.

There needs to be some work done on these two Metropolitan and Capital Administration seem to say they do the same thing. This is why your capital can only build the capital one while every other city can build the metropolitan one.

Personally I think they should be exactly the same except Capital Admin should
- replace Metropolitan Admin
- have no population requirements (or just the same as town/city admin) after all Washington DC in the USA and more to the point Canberra here in Australia are both smaller than the major cities.
- be able to be built in all "centre of government" cities (place, forbidden palace, versaille, edinburgh castle etc.)

The Leather Factory replaces the Tannery and both do not go obsolete. If you already have a Tannery in a city it is a very bad idea to build the Leather Factory as the Tannery has much more boni: Increased hammers and increased military production.

I would suggest to let the tannery go obsolete somewhere after Assembly Line (when the Leather Factory can be built) as the production bonus shouldn´t be relevant in industrial or modern times.

Two ideas:
-First: I think that the building, "Post Office", should, at the very least, go obsolete with teleportation. However, maybe the "teleportation booth" can give more bonuses than it currently does. Also, Skyroad Control Tower, which currently upgrades into Teleoprt Booth, gives 70% more trade route yield than the teleporation booth! This means the Teleportation booth is worse in every way! But guys, the ability to TELEPORT anywhere! This should give a huge amount of :culture:, :espionage:, :gold:! It should effectively replace Post office.

-Second: Once the Project "The Internet" has been built, it allows the construction of building "Computer Network" in all cities, worldwide.

The Dairy Barn, which I think is the only source of Milk, requires Glassware!!!
Glassware? Seriously guys. What part of a bucket needs to be made out of glass????? Surely milk ought to be available almost immediately when grazing animals get domesticated - if not sooner (ie. with a ready source of relatively docile wild animals).

Milk does not a dairy barn make.

I would like to see butter making in there somewhere, it had a huge affect on the healthiness of countries that made it because it requires a high level of general cleanliness to be able to make butter that tastes OK.

The community garden, chinapa and great chinapa, fountain, and golf course, are good candidates for minor pollution reduction effects. City park should probably have a larger reduction as well perhaps double it form -5 to -10.

Depends on if you are considering any level of pasteurizing the milk being needed to have a dairy farm. If no, then pottery should be enough.

That would be great but how is it relevant? Butter making doesn't require glassware either. The Dairy Barn gives one resource, Milk, and that should be available in very early ancient at the very latest. Preferably mid-late Prehistoric.

You do raise a good point regarding the buckets; perhaps Glassware OR Pottery would be better.

Thanks. I guess Pottery is the first tech that enables receptacles, in which case it's far too late too... But that's another issue (ie. you don't need your pot perfectly round - or round at all - so you don't need The Wheel to make it). :crazyeye:

What about containers made of animal skin or gut? They could come much earlier.

You're kidding right? No I am not considering the Industrial Era innovation of pasteurization. I'm sure you're aware that people were consuming dairy products millennia before that came along.

He is saying that Dairy barns are as of now the only way to make milk, which is incorrect. Dairy Barns are not the only Milk source.

However the Milk Resource should give +1 :health: at Modern Sanitation or something to show the effects of pasteurization.

Good points being made here. Just curious... was there a particular disease that pasteurization generally eliminated? All I really know about that is that pasteurization makes milk a bit safer but I'm not sure from what exactly.

Mostly E. Coli, although all sorts of nasties can live in milk that hasn't been sterilized somehow.

Can you please tell me what are the others? The pedia for Milk only mentions one.
