Experiment 626's Japanese Pre-Game Thread

Here it is! Everything that is in quotation marks is spoken by Pinky. All else is said by The Brain.

TRAINING DAY GAME 2, SAVE 2, Entry 1

4000 BC:

Our Settler moves NW.

Our Worker (dubbed ‘Yakko’) begins mining the Bonus Grassland.

IBT: "Narf!"

3950 BC:

Kyoto is founded! (Odd . . . I was unaware that it had been misplaced). The City’s Production Queue is set to Warrior, Warrior, Worker.

IBT:

I allocate 70% of all revenue to the Science Department. They inform me that at that level of funding, they will discover Pottery in 800 years!
"Egads, Brain! Brilliant!"

3900 BC: "Narf!"

IBT: "Narf!"

3850 BC: "Narf!"

IBT: "Narf!"

3800 BC: "Narf!" (Monotonous, isn’t it?)

IBT: "Narf!"

3750 BC: "Narf!" (Pinky, I swear that if you say that once more, I will hurt you!)

IBT:

Kyoto creates the first of many Warriors that will ultimately allow me to take over the WORLD!

"It’s just one Warrior, Brain. NARF!"

<WHAP!>

You were warned, Pinky.

(Pinky rolls on the floor, laughing.)

(Sighs) Our Warrior is dubbed Ooga.

-----

Yakko finishes the mine.

3700 BC:

Yakko begins building a road.

Ooga moves Due East in search of Knowledge and Horses. He sees mountains in the distance to the NE.

IBT: "Narf!" (Not again!)

3650 BC:

Ooga moves towards the mountains.

IBT: "Narf!" (Pinky!)

3600 BC:

Ooga climbs a mountain only to discover that it isn’t a mountain at all. It’s a VOLCANO! It doesn’t appear to be active at the moment so Ooga breathes a sigh of relief.

IBT:

Yakko finishes the road.

3550 BC:

Yakko moves to Irrigate the Wheat.

Ooga moves NW to the other Mountain. He sees naught but the northern coast.

"Perhaps he could try untying it, Brain."

What?

"When I see a knot, I just have to untie it!"

Pinky, that’s not what I meant.

"Why, sometimes, I’ll just spend all day trying to loosen a knot."

Pinky, be quiet!

"I’m always quiet when loosening a knot, Brain. I just don’t know what it is about knots, but the tighter the knot, the more I like it!"

Pinky!

"I just love spending a lazy summer’s day working on a knot. I just don’t know where the time goes when I’m working on a knot."

Like everything else, it probably goes in one ear and out the other. Now, BE QUIET!

IBT:

Kyoto builds another Warrior. (YES!) I shall name him ‘Booga’! Another mindless drone . . . er, I mean, loyal Worker is next.

3500 BC:

Yakko begins Irrigating the Wheat.

Booga follows the road to the mine and then turns South into the Forest.
Ooga heads due East to some Hills. In the distance, he sees a lot of Hills and Mountains.

IBT:

My Cultural Advisor informs me that our borders have expanded because of our Culture. I am one step closer to ruling the world!

3450 BC:

Booga continues South. He sees a Mountain.
Ooga climbs another Mountain. Sadly, we still haven’t seen any Horses.

IBT: "Narf!"

3400 BC:

Booga knows that if he climbs the Mountains to the Far East (pun intended), he could survey much of the landscape. He decides instead to follow his hunter’s instincts and continues South.
Ooga moves Southeast to the Hills.

IBT:

Kyoto builds another Worker whom I shall name ‘Wakko’. Kyoto will build another Warrior next.

3350 BC:

Wakko heads East to mine and then road a Bonus Grassland.

Booga goes West. He spots a Sugar field.
Ooga goes South to another Mountain. He still hasn’t seen any Horses, but he does see some Silks and a herd of Cattle.

IBT:

Yakko finishes the Irrigation of the Wheat.

3300 BC:

Yakko begins a Road.
Wakko begins a Mine.

Booga goes South.

IBT: "Narf!"

"Brain, why are you banging your head against the wall?"
To keep myself from hurting you, Pinky!

3250 BC:

Ooga goes Southwest to another Mountain. In the distance, he sees a village. He decides to investigate.
Booga goes South (as is my sanity at this point). He sees the Southern coast. He also sees another Sugar Field and a Forest that is plentiful with game.

"OO! OO! Brain! I love games! Pin the tail on the donkey, hopscotch, jump rope . . ." (Pinky begins jumping rope using his tail as the rope)
NOT THOSE KIND OF GAMES, YOU IDIOT! Game is another for food.
"Well, that’s just silly, Brain. Everyone knows that you can’t eat games! You might choke on the little pieces."
Pinky, if I were you, I wouldn’t use the word ‘choke’ right now. Let’s move on, shall we?
"But, Brain, I like it here. Do we really have to move on?"
(The Brain buries his face in his hands, and begins to weep).

IBT:

My Science Advisor informs me that we have learned Pottery. I tell them to research Bronze Working next. He begins to tell me how long it will take, but I glared at him until he left the room.

"See, Brain? That 800 years just flew by."
Pinky, I swear that I am going to throw you out of the tallest tower and see if you can fly.
"But, Brain, everyone knows that we can’t fly. If we were meant to fly, we would have been given those little bags of nuts!"
Pinky, you ARE a little bag of nuts!

3200 BC:

Ooga cautiously moves out of the Mountains and into the Hills overlooking the Village. He sees no activity in the huts, but it might be a trap.
Booga heads East towards some Mountains. He sees a Vineyard. He puzzles over this. He’s never even heard of a Vineyard before nor does he know what one looks like. As he ponders this conundrum, his feeble brain begins to hurt, so he stops thinking.

IBT:

Kyoto builds a Warrior whom I will dub ‘Ugga’. It is time to expand my empire! Kyoto will build a Settler next.

Yakko finishes the road.

3150 BC:

Yakko moves to help Wakko with his tasks.

Ugga heads Due East.
Ooga (after a quick prayer to the Gods) enters the Village . . . He has angered a Sakae tribe! Three Conscript Warriors surround him!
Booga steps into the Vineyard and tries some wine. He immediately becomes blotto, and slumps to the ground. What a lightweight.

IBT:

A Sakae Conscript attacks Ooga! Ooga achieves a Flawless Victory by killing his foe without suffering a wound himself. For his bravery, Ooga is promoted to Veteran!

The other two Sakae head Northwest.

3100 BC:

Ooga attacks a Sakae Conscript! It’s another Flawless Victory for Ooga, and he is promoted to Elite!
Ugga sees the remaining Sakae in the Mountains and moves to block his path.
Booga wakes up (with his head pounding) and goes East to a Mountain. He sees an Arid Desert.

Yakko helps Wakko dig the mine.

IBT:

The last Sakae Conscript attacks Ugga! Ugga achieves a Flawless Victory, but, sadly, is not promoted.

Yakko and Wakko finish the mine.

3050 BC:

Yakko and Wakko begin building a Road.

Ugga goes Southeast to a Mountain.
Ooga crosses a river to the Plains beyond, and sees some Hills in the distance.
Booga goes East to a Mountain and sees a Flood Plain with Wheat.

IBT: "Narf!"

3000 BC:

Booga also crosses the river.
Ooga goes East towards the Hills.
Ugga goes East to another Mountain.

End of Turnset: 29 Gold (+1 per turn); Bronze Working in 12 turns; Settler (Kyoto) in 7 turns.

For some reason, CivAssistII reset itself, and all the data was lost.

Come, Pinky, we must prepare for tomorrow night!
"Why? What are we doing tomorrow night, Brain?"
The same thing we do every night, Pinky! TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

Singing is heard, "They're Pinky . . . They're Pinky and The Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain!" (coda)

-----
On to Save #3: What thoughts do you have about Save #3?

I think Marsden's miffed at me for not following his advice. :(

On save #3:

There are a couple of things to think about:
1) You can get 2 6 turn warrior/settler factories out of two deer, or you can get a 4 turn settler factory out of it. Which do you want?
2) You are in the north center of the world - very nice position!! You can take out the world easily from here.
3) There are many rivers, which means lots of commerce, which is good!!
It also means that settlers might have to cross rivers a lot, so planning the road network is important.
4) YOu are standing on a BG, and you'll need that extra shield if you want to do 2 factories.

So, what do you do?

Well, I would move - go either NE 1 to settle, or S 1. I would look for two factories and those would be my spots - the north factory would send settlers to the east of the river, the south factory to the west of the river.

What do you think, oh fearless leader?

Save 3 move SE and settle, start working the BG you're on.

Get you settlers going, I want to see plenty of towns building swords and Samurai. (Even though Samurai upgrade from horsemen, not swords :crazyeye: so don't forget the horses!)

Originally posted by AutomatedTeller:

how wierd is it, btw, that Samurai upgrade from horses, considering that horses aren't required for them?

No weirder than you or I! :crazyeye:

Here we go again! :D Once again, all of Pinky's lines are in quotes, the rest belong to The Brain.

TRAINING DAY GAME 2, SAVE 3, Entry 1

4000 BC:

Our Settler moves SE.

Our Worker (dubbed ‘Yakko’) begins a Road.

IBT: “Poit!”

3950 BC:

Kyoto is founded. Why do I have the eerie feeling that I’m repeating myself?

“Maybe it was the burrito you ate for lunch, Brain. NARF!”

(The Brain sighs wearily) Just beyond our borders, I can see a village to the SE and some Cattle to the NE.

“Brain, do people live in that village?”

I don’t know, Pinky. We’ll have to wait and see.

“I hope that there are, Brain.”

I dread asking this question, but why do you hope there are people living in the village, Pinky?

“Because I just love Village People! Y-M-C-A!”

Don’t make me hurt you, Pinky!

Back on subject, my loyal subject is currently working the Forest that has Deer in it.

IBT:

The Science Advisor wants some revenue for research as well as orders as to what to research. I allocate 80% of all revenue to the Science Department and tell them to research Pottery. He begins to tell me how long it will take, but stops and looks confused as if he’d already told me.

3900 BC:

(Pinky continues to hum Y-M-C-A)

Pinky, if you hum just one more note of that song, I will be forced to hurt you very badly!

IBT: Yakko finishes the Road.

3850 BC: Yakko begins a Mine.

IBT: “Poit!”

3800 BC: “Poit!”

IBT: Kyoto builds a Warrior! (YES!) I shall call him ‘Ooga’. Another Warrior is ordered as I ponder where I’ve heard that name.

3750 BC:

Ooga moves S towards a Mountain to the SE. I have ordered him not to enter the Village.

IBT: “Poit!”

3700 BC:

Ooga goes SE. He keeps an eye on the Village as he goes past. Good man!

IBT: “Poit!”

3650 BC:

Ooga climbs the mountains, and sees some Cattle and a herd of HORSES! (YES!)

IBT: “Poit!”

Pinky, why do you keep saying that?

“You told me not to say ‘NARF!’, and I’ve only said it once this whole time, so I’m saying ‘Poit!’ instead!”

When did I tell you that, Pinky?

“I don’t remember, Brain, but you did say it.”

Odd that I don’t recall saying that. Well, no matter.

3600 BC:

Ooga moves S to some Hills.

IBT:

Kyoto completes another Warrior whom I shall call ‘Booga’.

Yakko finishes the mine. Now that the mine is finished, I move my loyal subject to work the mine so I collect one more Gold per turn.

3550 BC:

Booga heads W.
Ooga moves SW to more Hills.

I order Yakko to begin building a Road towards the Horses. He moves SE to comply.

IBT: “Poit!”

Pinky, please! You’re giving me a headache.

“Sorry, Brain!”

3500 BC:

Ooga heads S.
Booga heads W.

Yakko begins a Road.

IBT:

The Cultural Advisor pops in, and gives me some good news and bad news.

S3WTF3000BC.jpg

“Oh, no, Brain! Yakko is surrounded! What’ll we do?!!”
Pray, Pinky! It’s all we can do!

(A quick player's comment here: I thought that if a Cultural Expansion triggered a Village that it couldn't be Barbarians coming out of it.)

3450 BC:

Ooga heads W to some more Hills.
Booga heads back to Kyoto, but I fear that he will be too late to save poor Yakko.

IBT:

Yakko is killed where he stands!

“Eww! That looked painful, Brain.”

Indeed, Pinky.

Kyoto builds a Warrior dubbed ‘Ugga’. Another Warrior is ordered. It’s dangerous out there!

3400 BC:

Ugga attacks the Ainu Conscript that butchered poor Yakko. He is victorious and is promoted to Veteran for his efforts, but he suffers a wound in the battle.
Ooga appears to be in a range of Hills. He heads S.

Kyoto’s production is switched from Warrior to Worker.

IBT:

(Pinky whispers) “Poit!”

Odd that the other Ainu are just sitting there. They’re not attacking or moving! They’re just sitting there.

“Maybe they have diarrhea, Brain. When I have diarrhea, all I want to do to sit!”

Pinky, that has to be beyond the shadow of any doubt the single most disgusting sentence that I have ever heard you utter! On a side note, I thank you for using the word ‘sit’ in that sentence.

“Why, Brain? What other word could I have used there?”

Never mind, Pinky.

3350 BC:

Ooga heads E.
Booga goes SE.
Ugga attacks an Ainu Conscript! He is victorious without suffering any further wounds. Sadly, he remains a Veteran.

IBT:

“Poit!”

“Umm, Brain?”

Yes, Pinky?

“I’ve been wracking my brain, but I still can’t figure out what other word that I could have used in that sentence!”

Pinky? Drop it! I beg of you!

“Can I keep thinking about it?”

(Sighs) Only if the hamster doesn’t fall off the hamster wheel in your mind, Pinky.

3300 BC:

Ooga goes E and finds the coastline.
Booga attacks the remaining Ainu barbarian, and achieves a Flawless Victory! He is promoted to Veteran status.
Ugga spends his time binding his wound.

IBT:

Kyoto creates a Worker. I shall call him ‘Yakko’ in honor of the one that went before him.

“Umm, Brain? Won’t that be a bit confusing?”

Perhaps you’re right, Pinky. I shall name him ‘Yakko II’. Will that suffice, Pinky?

“Oh yes, Brain! NARF!”

3250 BC:

Ooga goes SW following the coastline.
Booga (seeing no more danger) resumes his Westerly journey.
A completely healed Ugga heads E.

Yakko II moves SE.

IBT:

We have learned Pottery! With the soon-to-be-ours supply of Horses coming, I order the Science Advisor to research Horseback Riding. Humbly, he informs me that we’ll have to learn Warrior Code first and then we can learn Horseback Riding. Muttering under my breath, I order him to learn Horseback Riding as soon as possible. He bows and leaves.

“Umm, Brain?”

Pinky, I’m not going to tell you the word that you could have used in that sentence, and that’s final!

“It’s not that, Brain. How do you know the names of what you’re going to research before you research it?”

(The Brain slaps Pinky upside the head) <WHAP!>

Stop asking silly questions, Pinky!

3200 BC:

Ooga is in a desert. He goes S and is now standing in an Oasis.
Booga goes W.
Ugga moves E.

Yakko II begins a road.

IBT: “Poit!”

3150 BC:

Ooga moves SW and is standing in another Oasis.
Booga goes W.
Ugga moves N.

IBT: “Poit!”

3100 BC:

Ooga goes W following the coastline.
Booga goes W to a mountain.
Ugga goes S.

IBT:

Yakko II finishes the Road. Well, the first piece of road, that is.

3050 BC:

Ooga heads N to some Hills.
Booga continues W.
Ugga goes SW. He sees a Sugarcane field in the distance.

Kyoto will build a Settler in 4 turns, but Kyoto won’t have the necessary population for another 10 turns. Reluctantly, I order Kyoto to switch production from a Settler to a Granary.

“Oh, Brain, That’s precious!”

What is?

“It’ll be nice to have a granary, don’t you think? With his little yellow feathers and tweeting voice . . .”

NOT A CANARY, YOU IDIOT! A GRANARY! IT'S FOR STORING EXCESS FOOD!

“Sorry, Brain!”

Moving right along, Yakko II follows the road, moving NW and then W. He will begin building a road in the Forest with the Deer.

IBT: “Poit!”

3000 BC:

Ooga goes N to some more Hills. In the distance, he sees some Incense.
Booga goes N to some Hills. He sees Gold in the Hills to the N.
Ugga goes S.

Yakko II begins a Road.

End of Turnset: 30 Gold (+1 per turn);
Warrior Code in 11 turns; Granary (Kyoto) in 9 turns.

And the pics:

My . . . I mean, OUR Territory:

And here's Kyoto:

Come, Pinky, we must prepare for tomorrow night!
"Why? What are we doing tomorrow night, Brain?"
The same thing we do every night, Pinky! TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

Singing is heard, "They're Pinky . . . They're Pinky and The Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain!" (coda)

On to Save #4: What thoughts do you have about Save #4?

(A quick player's comment here: I thought that if a Cultural Expansion triggered a Village that it couldn't be Barbarians coming out of it.)

Not exactly. If you plant a new settler so that the Village is within the 9-tile radius, you won't get barbs, even later in the game.

In addition in the very early game, if you have zero military units yet, you won't get barbs. A couple of examples.....

1. Pop the huts with your settler before settling or worker before building a warrior. No barbs.

2. Build a granary or something that will take longer than 10 turns. With no warrior or spear built yet, the border expansion won't get barbs.

am curious - why did you not move yakko north, away from the barbs? The barbs would have pillaged kyoto, which would suck, but the worker woudl have been safe.

This might be the best start yet - horses, a lux, lots of food.

Does anybody have any thoughts on Save #4?

I've looked at the pic. There's an awful lot of Bonus Grasslands around. I might have to load the save, and check to see what type of terrain the Settler is standing on.

Or would that violate some  HoF rule? :mischief:

Edit: Man, I must have REALLY offended Marsden with that last remark! :mischief: Anyhoo, I checked the square that Our Settler is standing on. It's a 3F/1S/1G (Bonus Grassland?) with Cattle. Where should I move?

Start #4...

Well, you have 2 cows, which means, again, you can get a 4 turn settler factory or two 6 turners.

I would tend to move the worker to the other cow, to see if that water to the SE is fresh or not - if it is, I'd move the settler E 1 and settle there. If it's not, I might do that anyway.

I'd probably go warrior, warrior, settler and the 2nd settler going 1W of the start spot.

Normally, I would play the first 21 turns of Save #4 today as I have decided to make Friday my C3C day, but I am just too darn tired today.

I'll wait until next Friday to do Save #4. Soooooo, that gives everyone another week to give advice about Save #4. And could someone please wake up WarMaster Marsden? I ain't heard a peep out of him since October 25! ;)

I know that I said that I would play this on Friday, but I'm not sure when I'll be getting home from work tomorrow, so I did it today.

Here we go again! :D Once again, all of Pinky's lines are in quotes, the rest belong to The Brain.

TRAINING DAY GAME 2, SAVE 4, Entry 1

4000 BC:

Our Settler moves E.
Our Worker (dubbed “Yakko”) moves SE to the coast.

IBT: “Narf!”

3950 BC:

Yakko begins Mining.

Kyoto is settled! The Queue is set to Warrior –> Warrior –> Settler.

IBT: I allocate 70% to Science. Pottery is chosen.

3900 BC: “Poit!”

IBT: “Narf!”

3850 BC: “Poit!”

IBT: “Narf!”

3800 BC: “Poit!”

IBT: “Narf!”

3750 BC: “Poit!”

IBT: Kyoto builds a Warrior (dubbed “Ooga”). Another Warrior is next.

3700 BC:

Ooga moves E.

IBT: Yakko finishes the mine.

3650 BC:

Yakko begins the road.
Ooga moves SE.

IBT:

Kyoto grows in population to 2.

“How’d that happen, Brain?”

Well, Pinky, it’s a simple matter of biology.

“What do you mean, Brain?”

(Not wanting to discuss this issue further, I’d best distract Pinky) PINKY! BEHIND YOU! YOUR SHADOW IS CREEPING UP ON YOU!

(Pinky turns his head, and sees his shadow, and begins shadow boxing) My money’s on the shadow!

3600 BC:

Ooga moves N.

IBT: Kyoto produces another Warrior (dubbed “Booga”). A Settler is next.

3550 BC:

Ooga moves NW.
Booga moves SW.

IBT: Yakko finishes the Road.

3500 BC:

Ooga goes NW following the coastline.
Booga goes S.

Checking Kyoto, I notice that our second citizen is working the other grassland with the herd of cattle on it. As I have plans for that herd of cattle, I move that citizen into the forest N of the city. The Settler will now be ready in 6 turns just as Kyoto grows the necessary Population point. My plans are flawless. They cannot fail!

Yakko follows the road into Kyoto, and goes N into said forest.

“Why is forest sad, Brain?”

WHAT?!!

“I wish the forest could be like that other forest. It was such a happy forest!”

(Barely keeping my composure) What other forest, Pinky?

“Didn’t we have another forest around here somewhere? You remember, Brain, every one kept wanting to work that forest, and there was always giggling in the forest!”

Pinky, I have absolutely no idea what you’re babbling about!

IBT: Our borders expand!

3450 BC:

Ooga goes W.
Booga goes SW.

Yakko begins to build a road.

IBT: “Narf!”

3400 BC:

Ooga goes NW.
Booga goes N.

IBT: “Poit!”

3350 BC:

Ooga goes W towards some Mountains. HE SEES HORSES! YES!
Booga goes NW.

IBT:

For some unfathomable reason, the citizen that I ordered to work the forest has relocated back to the grassland with the herd of Cattle.

“He was lonely, Brain, so I sent him back to the grassland.”

You did WHAT?!!

“He made some lovely friends in the herd, and it was cruel of you to take him away from his friends!”

YOU IDIOT! My flawless plans are ruined! You have no idea of what you’ve done!

(Pinky is sitting on the floor playing with his feet)

(Sighing) I don’t need an Idiot-Proof plan. I need a PINKY-Proof plan.

I order the citizen back to the forest, and hope that the damage to my plans isn’t too severe.

3300 BC:

Ooga goes W to the mountains. Before him, he sees some wide open plains.
Booga goes NW.

IBT:

The Domestic Advisor walks in, and informs me that Kyoto has grown to 3 pop. KYOTO RIOTS! I hurriedly reallocate funds. 30% to SCI (Pottery in 1), and 30% to LUX. That mollifies the angry mob. We now 2 Happy citizens and 1 Unhappy citizen.

3250 BC:

Ooga goes N towards some Hills.
Booga goes W.

IBT:

We have learned Pottery! Warrior Code is next.

The Domestic Advisor informs me that order has been restored in Kyoto.

3200 BC:

Ooga climbs a Hill.
Booga climbs a Hill.

IBT:

Kyoto builds a Settler. Allocation is reset to 80% SCI, 0% LUX. (Warrior Code in 18 turns).
Kyoto is now pop 1.

Yakko finishes the road.

3150 BC:

Ooga goes W.
Booga goes W.

Yakko takes the road into Kyoto and goes W from there.

The Settler goes W.

IBT: “Narf!”

3100 BC:

Ooga goes NW following the coastline.
Booga goes N.

And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen, all 4 saves have been played for 21 turns each.

Let the Debate begin! Which Save should I use?

Starts look good.

And now it can be told--my evil plan :mwaha:

I think I might have mentioned this before but this is what was planning for you. He he.

 • Save #1 win with a single city 20k cultural by 1884.
 • Save #2 win with a 100k cultural with any finish date.
 • Save #3 win with a conquest by 1740 (the original plan)
 • Save #4 win with a diplomatic with any finish date.

You wanted comments, didn't you, :mwaha:

Save 1: Get that settler finished, then start on either the colossus, oracle, or pyramids. Get that settler settled asap and start with 2 more workers and make sure you get Kyoto maxed out with shields and pop asap all the while founding more cities using the 2nd city as your settler factory and all later cities for units and workers and other things. Get to republic. 20k is a tricky beast, you need to build as many high culture wonders and cultural improvements as fast and early as possible. Research is important because every tech you get first gives you a chance for an sgl. Sgl = free wonder.

Save 2: Settler factories are key, you need to set up as many as possible. Your man goal is expansion and establishing as many cities as possible. Get to republic. Research is important but not as much, you are going to need to research into the middle ages, but you don't want to get Education, because that will cancel the Temple of Artimis, which you should aquire. You're going to want to have at least 150 towns, packed as close together as possible, all with temple(hopefully free), library, cathedral, and colluseum for 10 culture/turn each.

Save 3: Expansion is important to establish your core to build an army and take over the world! Get to republic. Go Kill!

Save 4: Expansion is important to establish your core to build an army and be nice to everyone. Just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it? Get to republic. Make sure you don't break any deals, so don't make any more than you need to. No attacking, only defending, but make sure you don't lose a city because retaking, taking a city will make them never vote for you. You can be at war and kill units, but taking a city is a no vote. Also, you will have at least one opponent, this is the one exception to the above, you can beat on them all you want, the trick is knowing who that will be. With 4 AI, you need 3 votes to win, but it's best to keep things favorable from the start. Personally, I'm betting Iroqouis will be your main opponent, but that just a feeling.

Why do I have this queasy feeling in my stomach?

You didn't mention it, btw.

I thought that the idea of my playing each save for 21 turns was to then have people vote on which save to use. AND you want me to play all 4?!!

You wanted comments, didn't you, :mwaha:

Well, yes . . . I did ask for it all right!

Not sure on what's happening on Friday, so here's a question to ponder:

If I were to play all 4 as Marsden (whom I believe needs his medication  ) suggests, which should I do first? Single City 20K Cultural, 100K Cultural, Conquest, or Diplomatic?

As always, your thoughts, suggestions, and advice are always appreciated. :worship:

I don't want to spoil Marsden's "evil plan" :p , but if it were me, I don't think I'd want to play 4 games in a row as the Japanese. I'd want a mix of 4 different civs.

As for which victory to play first, it would depend either on what I felt the greatest need to learn OR on what the Japanese civ would be best used for. I think I'd go 100K Culture as their Religious trait would help with the culture and their Military trait would help getting enough land to build that culture. You'd learn both fighting and micro-managing.

Oh, just do the conquest, already.

And I did allude to this before:

Plus this is a "training" game.

Also, as Crazy Marsden would say, if they are really good starts you could use one for a 20k and one for a diplomatic and maybe a domination. But that's just crazy!

I am a Mighty Engine of Civilization!

And once again GMaHarriet speaks with wisdom. Japan is not well suited for all of these, I don't think they're well suited for any, but that wasn't the point at this time I think, but boredom certainly can be and so if you'd just want to start 3 new games then sure, I don't have a slightest problem with that. Really. I just thought having those good starts would be good to play out. And the dates I gave you to beat, if any are not too bad to achieve. I wasn't expecting you to be grabbing number 1s all over, but certainly to chart. But....
Why not stick with #3 or another of your choosing and get your conquest up and running. Ok?
