I've not done a poll this time because I don't believe there are many options for new areas of exploration at this time. Have a look at the maps and if there is call for a poll, then I shall post one.

After popping the hut, the chariot should head off towards the unexplored area to the north east, checking out those last couple of hidden squares on the way.

The chariot and northern legion should check out their respective peninsulas. The southern legion should continue exploring his section of the island, but you probably have your own opinions as to whether he follows the coast or heads north.

(Please note: the arrows represent general direction, not the exact route to be taken)

Sounds good. :goodjob:

The only thing is if we wanted to change the support of one of the chariots by taking back to Dellham.

Of course, the domestic or military advisors may have other ideas for the units. I'm just concerned with exploration. And this tread was initiated before the discussion of chariot support began.

If we don't turn back that northern chariot to rehome at Dellham, we probably never will. On the other hand, Dellham needs all the shields it can get, even at the expense of RC.

The southern chariot doesn't have many choices. Pop the hut, and drive through forest to reveal the three tiles, or pop the hut, and swing around the lake to reveal the three tiles. Either way takes the same number of turns.

We've uncovered enough land now to last us a while, founding cities. The northern legion should now probe singlemindedly for other civs. The western legion should continue along the coast, or perhaps a tile inland (see below).

I was thinking about triremes. That bit of land to the west may lead to something, and it's near enough that we really ought to settle it early, if it's part of a continent. A trireme from Thunderfalls could scout that, and ferry a settler if we like what we see. The trireme could then head north to chart our coastline and reveal points of land our hastily exploring western legion passed by (see above). A second trireme from Two Whales could explore eastward.

I think RC can handle the support in four more turns. If there is another hut that homes a unit there, it will become a problem, but I don't see any such hut on our horizon. Let's leave the home cities asis, and explore. I want to map our continent, or find an enemy, either would be closure for these first millenia.

On a minor point, I think that the chariot in the south should head around the east side of the small lake, and then double-back to explore the black squares. It will save a little bit of time rather than trying to power through the jungle and forest.

For the ones in the north, it looks like the peninsula that the chariot is on may come to an abrupt end - from the curve of the coast we can see. It may be worth having the chariot confirm this, then heading back down to take the north coast of the area that the "southern" legion is on. :)

Fair enough.

I think you're probably right. I think we're going to find we've found most of what there is to find on this island. I'd be surprised to find us on a peninsula of a larger continent.

Hopefully we will uncover some more terrain so that we have to have a poll to choose between our many options. I hope that there is more. We are on a good sized contintent.
We also have at least one observed landmass off of our coast to explore by boat.

Looking at the full map, we have three - possibly four sections of land which know/believe aren't attached to the mainland. One to the south west of the current SSC, one south and one east of RC and one north east of Dellham. As Foreign Advisor I would love to send an expedition of Triemes ASAP either through the discovery of Mapmaking or bribing a passing ship.

Triremes should definately be built in the future but it depends alot on what people want to research after monarchy.

Mr President - the Foreign Office has concluded from the discussions of the people that our units carry on exploring as they were before. The southern chariot will investigate the abandoned town they had recently discovered and they hope to find some friendly units to join our mighty army!:D

This continent looks suspiciously like the one in my recent game. It's likely that we're all alone on a medium sized continent. We may be able to develop our civ quickly with only the barbs to worry about. *Oh darn!* Sean's idea about triremes is well taken. If there are many small islands to settle, they will make good trade centers and produce much science and $ with a suitable investment in ships. :)

From another thread it has been reported that both our legions are closer to another civ's city than our own so there is still hope that we will have a nother civ on our continent.
