Exploration thread

Well, it's a toss-up I guess. By the time we have a curragh ready (ten turns?) Choi may have mapped most of the northern coastline and our turn 30 warrior will have spent a few turns moving south. We'll have a much better grasp on which direction to sail once the boat is made.

Based on the most recent view from Choi, I'd be inclined to go East, before going North again... just guessing by the curve of the coast so far.

I do not care too much whether N or E, but certainly NOT NE (unless there is the only mountain far wand wide)!

Slight preference (60%) for N to uncover coastline.

I would do that.

And the settler is safe unguarded? No barbs in the mist?

Agree with what donsig said.

I think we get barbs after we settle this city, though I'm not sure.

My understanding is that we get barbs after there is an average of 2 tgowns per civ, and I *think* the others each have 2, though it may be that someone else has not made a second town yet.

Looks like Choi should move south next turn. Theres not much more he can explore to the north.

Since Bum Kun is an MP I really think we should send our first curragh south. It may be worth another 15 shields to build another curragh to take a closer look at all those whales. What do you all think?

Agree on Choi going south. It looks very much like we're on an island. Also agree on two curraghs, not so much for the whale, but more for the land on the other side of it.

I took a screenshot after Chamsuri moved one time south. It looks like there is land nearby!

Ohh....Exciting!

Land ohoi!

Question is, when do we want to cross and meet up with the others?

Pros and cons?

A con would be crossing the treacherous ocean. We might have to sacrifice some curraghs to make the crossing.

Would tech trading be a pro or con? We're trying for philo and a free tech. Would tech deals hinder our race? Would it enhance the free tech we might get? I must defer to more experienced players here.

Do we want others to know where we are...yet...?

I guess, that is a yes, as the benefits of trading outweigh the negatives..as there is not much another civ could do to attack us yet.

contacts have only pros in our situation.

The contra of course is the chance to sink a curragh - but I don't want to wait for MM anyway.

So cross that ocean now.
