IIRC, didn't Raikkonen fail to finish the first two races due to technical problems?
I never saw them, but I seem to recall reading something along these lines somewhere...

Raikkonen finished 8th in Australia and a failed tyre put him out in Malaysia.

 That certainly shows how much time and interest I have for watching F1 these days... :crazyeye:

I'll go shut up and stand in the corner now. ;)

He started from the pitlane, fought his way through, then something broke off the car or someone else's car and got lodged under Raikkonen's i think so he had to make an unscheduled stop.

He started from the pitlane 'cos he stalled on the grid! Raikkonen did have to have some bodywork fixed but that was his own bodywork and during a regular pitstop. Fact is, Raikkonen was up to 2 seconds a lap slower than the Renaults on that day...ironically because he was stuck behind a slow moving Schumacher! However, he finished 8th 'cos he cocked up the start. He does have a lot of bad luck but half of it is caused by himself.

Agree. In Australia he went off the road TWO times in qualifing, at the grid he stalled the car, in the race he broke his deflector... Kimi is an unreliable driver IMO. Only his DNF in Imola was due to mechanical failure, in Germany it was his fault. And dont forget that his bad luck at Imola was payed back generously in Canada, where he won because Montoya, Fisi and Alonso DNFs. He has the fastest car (and not so unreliable since neither JPM, Wurz nor PDL had problems in nearly all the races) and he is 24 points behind Alonso. Even with a DNF for Alonso.

All drivers make mistakes.

Thorgalaeg your location clearly shows why you're so biased.

But kimi has made no mistakes in Grand Prix's. His qualifying in Australia was compromised by the downpour. ALonso so pathetically threw it into the wall in Canada. So no, Kimi's bad luck wasnt repaid at Canada because the points he lost at Imola were a technical glitch whereas Alonso bottled it under pressure in Canada. As i said earlier - Kimi would have won in Imola and Nurburgring and i don't think Alonso's points margin is a true reflection of the reality.

So i'll go on record now and stand trial for this in October - Kimi Raikkonen will win the World Championship. Best driver, best car.

What about the whole tyre explosion? Or did the tyre flat spot on it's own.

Alonso will win, best driver, equal car. :p

I don't regard that as a 'mistake'. He was pushing to the limits as any racing driver should do and certainly he needed to in that situation. Alonso's on the other hand comes into the 'unforced error' catergory.

After reading your posts It is obvious that you are muuuuuuuch more biased towards kimi that i am towards Alonso even being from Scotland. "kimi made no errors"

Lets see, Kimi qualifing in Australia was compromised by the downpour, like Alonso. But alonso didnt go offtrack and didnt stall the car, finishing in podium, starting since 13th. Some other kimi errors i remember this season: Barhein: went of track in first qualy and again in the race, he was very lucky to end the race with the car in one piece. In Nurbungring: he made his front tyre a cube after multiple driving errors. In Canada Kimi won not only because Alonso went out (Alonso fault, no doubt, but his only important mistake this season) but because Fisi had a mechanical failure and becuase Montoya race was totally screwed by McLaren team. when the SC went out they pitted kimi first when Juan Pablo was ahead of kimi. Ron Dennis excuse: "we forgot to call Monty".
I know kimi fans commonly need to forget these "details" and center too much in Alonso bashing. :mischief:

About Kimi winnig the WC leaving aside the boring wishful thinking and seeing point and Kimi/Macca vs Alonso/Renault reability and so, a Kimi victory would be almost a miracle, but everything is possible. Schumi (best driver right there dont forget :D ) could be more dangerous if Ferrari or Bridgestone wakes up once for all.

I'll admitt you had a point...untill you said Schumacher was still in with a shout.

Sadly Michael has had his day. However the German fans can take comfort from the fact that atleast the new champion will have German power.

So what if Mclaren screwed Montoya over? He's average at best...a rear gunner for Kimi. People can complain about that but they've no objections to the many times Barichello and Irvine were used as Schumacher's lackey.

A lot of people complained about that as well especially when Barrichello slowed down on the start finish straight to let Schumacher win. Fisichella has not had to slow down yet for Alonso.

We're all biased because of our location Chancellor. And you're included in this.

After all, you're Scottish, and Coulthard is also Scottish. Didn't Coulthard race several years in a McLaren. And I don't mention in here that McLaren is a British team... when Ferrari is Italian and Renault is French.

As you can see, according to your own location, the highest probability is the one you support McLaren. ;)

I think Kimi´s tire was damaged because he was going too fast just before a bend and he was forced to speed down using the brakes more than normally. When you brake that way, the wheel gets blocked for a while, and the part of the tire that is in contact with the asphalt is damaged.

I´m not an expert in F1, but I happened to see that GP in the TV and the experts were saying (before the tire blew out) that it was Kimi´s fault to have the tires in that conditions (he was going half a second or more slower than Alonso in the lasts rounds because of that).

Well, he is only 5 points behind Raikkonen. If Alonso suffers any sort of cataclismic disgrace, MS and KR would find themselves fighting for the championship. Having in mind that the F2005 has the most powerfull engine (and reliable btw), that it is a Ferrari after all and that bridgestone may resurrect any day... How i said referring to KR winning the championship, everything is possible. ;)

You are very right. However my biased opinion also concurs with truth and fact. :goodjob:
