Fall Further - The Original Thread

Any ETA on a 0.32g compatible version? Any chance that you'll update to the latest xienwolf xml modcomp and the latest marnok's explorable lairs (and maybe include UnitStats and FFHBUG) when you get the new version ready.

Going to be a slow one I'm afraid - 040 will be the 0.32g release and will include the Austrin, along with as many of the updated components as I can reasonably include in the time. Might be a few days yet though.

Sorry, I love explorable lairs, but the latest version seems to have issues with flooding the map with hundreds of barbarians and slowing the game to a crawl... I'm all for including the new tribal villiage and hero mechanics and everything, but do make sure to tweak the barbarian spawn rate so it isn't so insane?

I've been keeping track of that thread and Marnok is still working to get everything balanced nicely. I probably won't be updating that component until he's happy with how it's working.

I love how you've added the ability to toggle each FF civ on and off. Would it be possible to add the same functionality for other aspects of the modmod? (i.e. the worker mod, the alignment mod, and Mardok's mod)

Not easily - I can look into that, but it would be a fairly major design shift (if I'd thought about it in advance, I may have been tempted to do it that way though).
 
More importantly, is it a given that the new 3.17 and the patches you'll new to bring FfF and FF will break any save games? I mean can we wait for the new patch and just experiment with 3.17 or should we hold off and finish the games we have now and wait to install?
 
Given FFH32g, which is compatible with 3.17, breaks saved games, I imagine any update to Fall Further is going to break save games too.

Aye FF040 will take your save game, shred it into its component bits, put the bits in a blender and mash them up until all that's left is soup, then drink the soup and say "Failed to Uncompress Data".

Yes - the next version will not be compatible with any old save games. There's a lot been added.
 
Um, when I try to use fall Further, all I get is Beyond the Sword, without even the Fall Further features. What did I do wrong?
 
About manual progress - i have hard time with texts, i lack alot of information. I need help how i can locate all texts not using game itself (i am not similar with xml)

Assets/XML/Text has the vast majority of the game's text in .xml files readable as plain text files.

You'll see a bunch of this sort of thing:

In order for us to know what you did wrong, you need to tell us what you did in the first place. How did you go about installing Fall Further?
 
First, I copied my Fall from Heaven folder to another folder temporaraly. Then, I copied the Fall Further Assets over the Assets folder of my Fall from Heaven Copy. Then I then copied the Fall from Heaven Copy (renamed Fall Further) back into the Beyond the Sword Mods folder. As it copied, I saw it copy files for thing like "Lizardman Blowpiper". When it enter civ4 or my regular Fall from Heaven, and went to load a mod, Fall Further appeared in the list. When I selected it, it loaded and took me to a regular Fall from Heaven mod. As in, it was a regular verson of Fall from Heaven, with no Fall Further Features. I think I did all the install steps I can find.
 
That looks right to me... only thing I can think of is did you make sure to click "Yes to All" when it asked if you wanted to overwrite files?

Also, right now Fall Further isn't updated for the newest version of FfH. That may also be the problem. Not sure what would happen there.

Did you copy the FF Assets "over" (as in overwriting) or "into" (as in dropping the Assets folder onto another folder) the FfH Assets?

If you look in the FfH assets and find a second Assets folder, then you've dropped the new assets folder into the old folder. Cut/Copy that one and then Paste it into the folder the folder above (the Fall from Heaven folder, with the top Assets folder).

You should get a lot of prompts asking "Do you wish to overwrite this file?" - answer "Yes to All".

Also - as DuckandCower said - it's currently only compatible with FallfromHeaven 032e, so if you've already updated beyond that, the best thing to do is wait (the new installer makes it all a lot easier anyway). I don't think this is the issue here though, as the result there would be that FF would undo some of Kaels updates, and add some things that Kael's DLL isn't expecting. It wouldn't make it as far as the Main Menu.

If you do want to try it now, you can do a clean install of 032 and reapply Patch E (which is still available here).
 
I was thinking that the problem might have to do with the fact that FF is not yet compatible with the BtS 3.17 patch. If you have already installed that patch, you cannot easily go back to a mod made before its release. You might need to do a clean install of BtS before you go bak to the 0.32e patch.

No, they can build cottages etc in Deep Jungle freely - though most people would recommend creating/waiting for swamps to spread to at least some of them.
 
Okay, all I wanted to know. The Mazatl look great by the way, but I've only just started.
