Fall Further - The Original Thread

I am pretty sure that the Pegasus is done by going to a completely new unit graphic, as such a lot of work has to be done for each Graphic that gains a Pegasus Riding version. If a kindly artist who was masterful at animations and bone work would rig it up so that the mount worked like a weapon it would be easier to do a universal rig which applies to everyone (like picking up Orthus's Axe), but it would look really wierd, as you cannot (to my knowledge) move the Unit higher in the air that way, so you'd need a small horse, or you'd only be able to see the rider from the chest up poking out of the horse's back.

Aye - there's unique art for each of the Melee, Archery and Arcane lines (for the standard units) and a fourth piece for Harmatt (as the Austrin hero). I'd love to be able to include mounted versions of other units, but don't have suitable art to do so at the moment (I pretty much hit the limit of what I can do art-wise making the Pegasus units that we already have).
 
In your intro, you have the Mapscripts that allow favorable terrain for different races. Okay, you download it...then what do you do? Where does it go?

I'm sorry, but my brain-pan isn't what it used to be after Afghanistan. I still can't get the airships mod nor the Scions to work since I'm sure I didn't put them in the right place!

In the Beyond the Sword directory, there's a folder named "PublicMaps" - all custom mapscripts go in there :)

There's a few different mods that aim to make the map favourable/flavourful for the individual civs and I believe Xien was looking at Jean Elcard's latest version with a view to integrating it into FF as a GameOption at a later date.
 
You can also put any Fall Further specific maps/scenarios in the mod folder:
...\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Fall Further 041\PublicMaps

This way Fall Further scenarios won't show up in vanilla BTS/Fall from Heaven. This will keep things nice and tidy. You will, however, have to create the PublicMaps folder in the Fall Further directory since it isn't automaticaly created.
 
Elephant is Animal who can get City Raider according to the civilopedia. That is why I wanted to get them before upgrading to War elephant.
Okay, I'm still on the previous version of FF, and while Bears and Tigers can get CR, in the older versions Elephants cannot. Also, War Elephants cannot get CR. I'm assuming in the current version Elephants are supposed to get CR, but has the War Elephant changed too? If not, then there's the problem.

Disciple units can get it too, but only CR1. Some animals can get CR1-3 just like Melee units. Mounted units do not get CR. To assist odalrick, are War Elephants supposed to be classed as an Animal unit or Mounted?
 
I was playing FF the ohter day in an mp game and our scores wouldnt come up on the right hand side. i tried toggling it but nothing happened. i restarted the game few times but it never came up
 
Decius' Pick Alignment event really needs to fixed to work better with Broader Alignments.

I ALWAYS get a neutral Malakim Decius. in my six complete and several more forgotten games since DEcius was added, I've seen Varn Gossam twice, and that's cause Decius was were Neutral Bannor and Neutral Calabim in those games.

Sure, this makes perfect sense. I just thought that for (non-Austrin) heroes, the closest fitting art would be picked (Melee for Bambur, or Archery for Arthendain for example). Again, this is really a minor issue. I thought the idea of getting the pegasus ability was wonderful!

I played so far all but one or two of the new races and very much enjoyed them. Keep up the good work! This is awesome. :goodjob:

Did you have Warfare? (prereq for City Raider)

Yes.

I compared the promotion list for Elephant and War Elephant to see if there was any I should pick up before upgrading, only City Raider stood out so I teched Warfare and fed my Elephant some barbarians.

I suspect it may be something like Blitz, promotions that only work on attack may be blocked from units that can't attack.
 
only to offer an alternative, some time ago i made a pegasus which is flying when runing and idle based on Refars roaming horses (iirc based on charlemagne scenario heavy cavalry), far away from being perfect (wing texture, animation), but it works

made some changes be able to add a rider without having to much errors (like feets in the wing, etc) and made a pegasus with Adept a s rider as demo. Exchanging the Rider in Nifscope shouldn´t be a problem, as long the models have the same bone structure.

btw there is also an evil version (flying nightmare) - which could be used as horse

Are you certain he started neutral, and did not simply appear neutral due to adopting a religion?

That looks very nice indeed. Could I tempt you to continue working on these? It's definitely a lot better than my version...

I'd always descover him before any rekigeons were founded. If he started, say good, then he must be so low on the chart that Fend for Themselves makes him neutral. If he started evil, I how he did it.

Dwarves should go the steampunk tech route, so they should have an ornithopter. If you visit the store on that site, they also sell swimming fish models. The Dwarves could use those instead of more conventional naval vessels.

This Leonardo da Vinci site has some of his ornithopter designs.

That should be fixed if you're using any Patch after 041A. We're currently on 041C.

For 041 in particular I'd recommend using the patches - the initial release had a few "quirks" that are straightened out now.

As a steampunk mavin, I heartily agree with this! Plus I still think that the War Machine should be a Luichirp machine.
