Fallout mod.

One thing I tried for a post-apocalypse scenario that I never got around to finishing, I did a simple copy and paste to replace the goody hut with the city ruins. I wanted to create the feel of exploring a vast wasteland and entering ruins to discover ancient secrets (or perhaps disturbing raiders/creatures). It worked pretty well in my tests for the most part, though you'd have to change some of the goody hut text so it works better (i.e. instead of "XXX tribe gave us abc technology" it would be changed to "we discovered the secret of abc technology in these ruins", or something like that).

Another idea for city ruins, perhaps some of the talented artists at Civfanatics can tweak the city graphics to create the kind of ruined cities common in Fallout artwork, with blasted skeletal skyscrappers, etc. Imo it would look more "Fallout-ish" than the jumbled pile of stone blocks that are the standard Civ3 city ruins.

Well, just a couple of ideas for you to consider.
 
Almost done with city graphics :) , need some support though, can anyone supply me with screen shots of fallout 2 or tactics buildings with the roof (no see through), just PM me or post here, :goodjob:

Well i just did some ruins, here is a destroyed skyscraper, more will come, trying to fit the tiles correctly,

Yeah, those ruins look pretty good, though a couple more destroyed skyscrappers would be nice. If you end up not using them in the mod, would you mind posting them in the graphics section so I could use them (someday, hehe). :)

Hey Ed, you can use em when you dl Fallout. As they are gonna be in the mod.
Yeah i agree with Ed on this, the ruins would look better with destryoed bldgs, instead of piles of rubble.
Reddog the cities are looking outstanding! will get some screenies from the Fallout games.
Also here is what i was thinking, the Vault Dwellers civ ahs cities that look like the white Vault city bldgs.
The Ghouls would look like the rundown bldgs and wasteland tents.
the others would be like that also.
They are lookin DAMN good!!! :goodjob:

yeah i wanted to replace the goodie huts with destroyed cities, and the barb gfx with tents. I wanted the fort gfx to look like the junk wall at junktown or Mardin in Tactics. :)

Reddog, here is a screenie of the Junk type of wall for the fort gfx. :)
I have also been thinking, with the marsh for the wasteland we now have a reason for Enviromental armor, it will ignore the terrain costs of the wastes!
So now i will have to do the enviro armor also. :cool:

thanks guys,
I was planning on making the forts from that metal wall thing anyway so ill get started on it now. As for the buildings, i need screens of the enclave base (hangers etc., some buildings) ill redo the airport gfx, The cities are going well, need more screens of fallout tactics buildings as they have more than more floor, if anyone could get a screen shot of the large factory in the game. Here is a cuurent list of other things ill need in the future:
1. Screen of the vault city walls (for the walls around some of the more modern cites)
2. Various buildings ingame (never can have enough)
3. Military base enterance area (dont know if ill use it, but i wont hurt)
4. pictures of barrels in glowing radiation,

Ruins almsot done, just tweaking a bit, any suggestions?
Ill get to the cites next, I need an example of what the marsh will look like beofre i start, any suggestions will gladly be accepted.

here is my thought on the forts and walls.
Era1 is Post Apocalypse, Forts and Walls Green Goo
Era2 is Rebirth, Fort and Walls Mg nests on the corners with barbed wire running between them.
Era3 is Renewal, Forts and Walls, The Junk Walls
Era4 is Reawakening, Forts and Walls, the White Walls and Laser Towers of Vault City.
the different levels are to represent humanity pulling itself out of the slime, literally. :D

Seems you have given me a reason to play all my Fallout games again, if nothing else for the screenies! :lol:
Attached is a building that was made by Calculon00, and he has given permission for me to use. It might help, as it is a multi story bldg made with the fallout editor.

1st question, does anyone know how to use or have the fallout editor, if so it can be very helpfull, crazy if im not mistaken i could use the green colors as long as it is not the last 2 colors on the pallet (the last two no matter what color it is will be see-through), the marsh terrain will be based off of the last 2 screens, Thanks everyone,

Hi again, just finished half of the cities for the tribals/non-vault dwelers take a look:
What should the industrial and modern ages look like for the cities, im not using the vault city buildings for the tribals, any ideas?

Yes, i have created a couple of buildings for the mod.
I have some bldgs i will post to let you use for the renewal and reawakening eras. :)
The cities are looking good!
You could use that highrise for one of the Renewal mini bldgs for the city.
Also, you could use the tents as bldgs for the tribals.

Attached is an idea for the mine, just paste on some tin, and walla! a Fallout mine!

ok 1/3 done with marsh,
1/3 will be like what i posted below, another 1/3 will be the destroyed wilderness, the last bit will be radiated barrels,
keep the screens coming.

Reddog, it is looking very good. What do you think about the mine idea?

This is the water filtration plant that comes with toxic waste cleanup in the Renewal era, you might add it to the city gfx.

Working on the cities gfx, here are all the buildings that I have rescaled, more will come, The mines look good, ill be finished with the citiy gfx by monday at the latest.
