Fallout mod.

Anyone still on this project.. at least give us feedpack,.. what's the status and so..

It has not been abandoned, but After Flamand created his excellent interface for the mod, Real life kicked in and cut down my modding time drasticly. So Flamand and I put the Fallout mod on hold for a while so we could concentrate on his ST mod for a bit.:D Besides I needed a change of venue, too much sun and sand.:crazyeye: :nuke: But never fear we shall come back to it.

If you REALLY want to see this mod done, find the tech trees I posted and SUGGEST TECHS!!!!!!!! :D THAT is what is needed urgently and the main hold up.:crazyeye:

sorry I can't find the techtree...
It would also be quite a help if there would somewhere be an up to date list of buildings and wonders for each faction...
so some techs I could imagine:
scrap iron refining/purification
gecko leather tanning
water purification
electrical adapters (to use different energy sources/types of energy cells small/big)
radioactive storage glass
all kind of recycling
random genome mutation
artificial meat growing
optical communication systems
sub terra growing
soil renewal
radiation maps (on wich you can se the level of radioactivity)
industrial nanofibre production
positron brains
master//slave communication
just a few I now think of...
 
That's a nice looking list of Tech's Samez. I may have some graphics to match some of those tech's if you want Icons made out of them just let me know........;)
 
@Samez, Those are damn good suggestions, and I will try and get a list of the current buildings and wonders for you folks to look at.:)

@Storm Grunt, If you could make tech Icons for those proposed techs, That would be outstanding. I have an idea where I would place them already.:D

All right, I'm not sure if the labeling is appropriate(bear with me I don't Know much about fallout),But what do you think of these(style wise)? Will they work for you? I don't want to get too carried away in case your looking for a different style....;)

Where do you want me to upload the files as I finish Them? I can upload the Icons to the file database and post links here or would you rather they not be publicly released?

Samez, can you give me some background descriptions of those proposed tech's so I can find appropriate images to edit.....:D
 
So about
scrap iron refining/purification
Well i thought there beeing scrap iron all around in the world after a war recycling will be much more usefull cause of a lack of mines and trade.. (it will also get a higher quality steel)
ingame: reveals iron (?) requires generators/adapters (building or tech) and is prereq for techs and/or units that willr equire a lot of metal to be build
should be available to everyone without robots and perhaps mutants...
Here I could imagine some kind of electric arc furnace

gecko leather tanning
wellthe idea is simple.. you remember this gecko quests in fallout2? yeah to make a leather armour out of it you will ahve to tann the leather.
ingame: reveals geckos, makes leather units available..

perhaps it's possible to make the yellow background somehow more "falloutish"

water purification
hmmt his should be a kind of logic... you will need fresh water to stay alive in the wastelands... perhaps here we could use a pic of the waterchip? Not sure about it yet... perhaps an alternative solution would be a tech called well digging
ingame: hmm makes either fresh water suply building available (counts as grannary) or it is required to irrigate (but therefor I would use soil renewal) or allows growth beyound a pop of 6/12

radioactive storage glass
well i don'T know exactly what to do with this one but today nuclear waste is sometimes stored in glass..
e.g.:

sub terra growing
well this is something seen quite often in fallout (fo1 und la boneyard and fo2 the guys living under the earth next to the farm (modoc? uhh names are not my thing))
plants and mushrooms are grown under the earth to guarantee an minimum supply of food
ingame: hm not sure perhaps grannary or something like that...
as pic it would be perhaps possible to use a screenshot of one of the locations...

optical communication systems
well this can either be high or low tech.
low: a kind of chain of watchtowers with fire/smoke to communicate
ingame: watchtower (walls)
high: akind of laser communication via a ballon (or something like that) which is tap proof available only to the humans and perhaps to robots...
ingame: makes fast and strong explorers available (like Hummer(?))

master//slave communication
this would be a kind of optical com tech for robots or mutants master commands either the minor robots or the supermutants)
as picture I would here use something abtract so it could bbe used for both of them...

artificial meat growing
this was already available in ctp (2?)
I would this use as mutants tech to make new units available...
 
well i like the idea of a casino tech...
the (1,2) icon could be used as mercenary/ symbol for a caravans tech that allows to build roads...
the use of everything else should be obvious...
 
@Stormgrunt, Go ahead and post them here on CFC. I would not want anybody else to accuse me of not 'sharing my toys'.:D

I like them and can use them all. Maybe not for what is listed, but they WILL be used.:D

@Samez I like those ideas you have, and I am thinking since leathor armor was made from Brahmin hide, and Gecko pelts were more of a luxury item, that your excellent idea for Gecko leather tanning would instead reveal the luxury resource of Geckos.:D Which if you could get them into your civ would be a great boost in happiness (1 happy face) and if in an actual city range a great boost in money, 4 caps.

@ Samez - Thanks for those descriptions, they help a lot. I'm still a little lost on the artificial meat growing concept though.....
